Look into Live improve electronic if you really want to give this scene a chance.  The Disco Biscuits, STS9, Conspirator, Lotus, Umphrey's McGee.  This is the type of stuff that blends electronic and rock together.  Rock doesn't need to be dead.  It just has some new flare.
