@aepxc You said Dissenters would tend to be branded as traitors and foreign agents
I am a dissenter, and I know my mail is being read. I just haven't done anything yet that they can hang me for, but the day is coming when they will try to silence people like me, and die trying, and vice versa.
You have seen emigration in reverse. Some Mexicans have gone back because of the economy. Open your eyes and take off your rose-colored glasses. Educated ones are leaving because the wages in their own countries like Germany and India are starting to surpass ours. Africa's Middle Class is alive and growing. You ask why I don't emigrate? Because I lost family in more than one war who died defending and building the America that used to be, and this is just another one that all of us face... taking back our country from those who trashed it to the ground and serving justice to those that did. I will not be happy until The Fed and the banking system that rule the world's economy are overhauled, and the rampant corporate American militarism comes to an end. Sorry to disappoint you but there are many like me who do not like the global aspirations of my predatory nation and are determined to undo it even if we have to give our lives doing so.
@aepxc The part that riles me is the foreign military intervention part. Why hasn't a War Crimes Tribunal arrested Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld, not only for "rigging" an election, but for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, which had nothing to do with WMDs for the former and terrorists for the latter. I don't wish to go into all that this group is responsible for, but wish to point out that Obama himself feared a military coup if he prosecuted the three stooges, and yet continued their rampant war policies until the economic factor more than public opinion became a deciding cause for a reversal. If we cannot effectively govern ourselves we have no business asserting our influence on any other country. American democracy is not what I would like to see spread throughout the rest of the world for the very reason that it has failed here. Anyone who denies that has turned a blind eye to the class disparity produced since the Reagan years by both parties. I do not believe that the democratic process can be reasonably defined because the charts and figures do not tell the whole story. Just because a country is not a "full democracy" doesn't mean that most of it's citizens aren't happy and provided for, though I cannot give you an example right off the top of my head. But I can give you an example of a country that is considered to be a "full democracy" and is failing miserably at it, becoming more and more Fascist everyday.
Set up a system of government EXACTLY IDENTICAL to that of any country with a rating above 7.5 by this index https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Index , and you will be absolutely guaranteed to hear no complaints.
That's a joke son, get it?
@Cocopen @1913Intel I can't wait to see what Goldman Sachs does to Europe. They laid off 2,000 here, and went overseas because there was no money to be made here. They took it all.
@Cocopen @1913Intel Your views are laughable. We have the highest crime rate, the largest prison population, the worst healthcare, and you think everybody comes here for that? They come here because they get paid more because the American companies who went overseas pay scab wages. They come out of desperation, because the lying Americans over there are as bad as or worse than their own government.
@aepxc @Rodrian_Roadeye You say that identifying corrupt elections is pretty simple? Like Bush stealing Gore's? Or Hubert Humphrey having the popular vote but not the electoral college? Or how about the disparity between America's poor without ID's not voting Democratic and the vote swinging to the wingnuts? It all depends on who has fixed the election regardless of how fair you think UN principles may be unbiased.The election machine is as easily hacked as a banks credit card numbers.
Oh yeah, I have read Castro's speeches and he was a btrilliant educated man. He had us pegged for the kind of nation we really are, and I have listened to more than my fair share iof other leaders speeches and have found a lot of truth about my country's corporate raiders, unlike most Americans who have NO IDEA how the other side feels about Amertican diplomacy.
You would never see that here in the US would you? My uncle was wrongly convicted of rape, imprisoned, and when the real rapist was caught, released. He sued and won a judgement for wrongful imprisonment. Texas is full of blacks that are fried in their electric chair, and bratty Bush as governor said they never executed an innocent man. A banker embezzled millions and got three years, a hungry, homeless black man robbed $100 from a bank, brought it back the next day because of a guilty conscience, and got life. My country is filled with worse examples of hatred and bigotry than Iran. The only difference is the punishment is non-existant for the rich.
A reasonably defined Democratic process? Defined by American or NATO interests? Oh yeah, that sounds about par forn the course. The golf course of those who seek to exploit and take advantage of any and all resources. NJo more American puppets. Violence is the onbly recourse once a country lose self-determination.
The whole Middle East is vulnerable to attack by Israel, so why is it that anyone not in bed with the US is denied the right to resist American attempts at domination? Either you bow to American selfish interests or you are blacklisted. I have seen pictures of Iran even and rebuilt Lebanon and they put our cities to shame. They treat their own citizens better than we do, and yes, there are Jews living there and they are well integrated into the population. You are naive if you believe everything our state department feeds you. I have talked to Pakistanis who say that the picture painted by our government is full of propaganda and lies. NOBODY wants war, except our War Hawks. War is money, big profits for American industry. Once started it is too profitable for us to stop.
@JohnNew @Sibir @1913Intel @Nikolay Ru
That was 2007, before we passed laws saying we could kill American citizens without a trial, imprison anyone deemed "dangerous" by Homeland Security, made corporations "people" and gave them more rights than stockholders or citizens, restricted voters without ID from voting for their Party, flew drones and opened email tom spy on our citizens, cut unemployment, education, and now try to dismantle the only safety nets disabled and jobless Americans have. Not to mention screwing our vets. Yeah, all the while building more bases and funding more war, weapons research, arms shipments, CIA dirty tricks, funding terrorists. What a great country. Next they'll throw me in prison for protesting too loudly, but I'm armed and ready.
@Sibir @JohnNew @1913Intel @Nikolay Ru
They better not take my gun away from me Sibir. I will need it when the breakdown of our government brings about the Fascist American Police State, which I will fight tooth and nail. We think Socialism is the problem, we should be so lucky.
The coward is the person in either side who believes in his country right or wrong. Having faith in your leaders gets you nothing but "killed". Real heros stand up to tyrants even in their own country and pay the price for freedom in patriot blood.
You heard about the Kuwaiti children having their incubator plugs pulled by the Iraqi soldiers, but nothing about yellowcake causing birth defects worldwide wherever we waged war. It's all propaganda and it wins over the populace to your killing side.
We have been more than bellicose in projecting the nuclear threat since Hiroshima and Nagasaki, every time we wanted something. As the bully on the block, having shown the world that we were crazy enough to unleash the bomb, we played that card over and over and over again. Infantile Bush was crazy enough to say that we could win a limited nuclear engagement, though I don't see how. Any first use of nukes would bring swift retaliation by Russia, China, India, Pakistan, and even Israel, who would bear the consequences of fallout depending on how close the target was. She didn't hesitate to try to sink the USS Liberty. Don't worry about confronting Russia, worry about our own trigger-happy bomb squad.
Yes, but they weren't commiting genocide... History says they were "clearing the land for settlers". You know, like we are doing in The Middle East where every casualty is "collateral damage" and we are protecting "our interests" by making the world "safe for democracy" ...to pillage resources and exploit cheap labor. It's all in how you word your principles, but a pig with lipstick is still a pig.
And one more thing, I no longer believe everything I see and hear like I fell for the aluminum tubes being used as WMDs by the Bush mob. Or his telling Cherac that he was annointed by God to fulfill revalation and bring about the return of Christ. Bunch of conservative Christian psychos.
<< I would say Putin is doing an excellent job of turning many Americans into enemies.>> Speak for yourself. Putin warned that if missiles were put in Poland it would start another Arms race, and it did. The Russians have a right to fear oppression, read their history. If anyone is creating fear it's us and our puppet NATO. Have we ever installed a new dictator in any country that wanted one cxhosen by us? Are we going to mess up the Syrian people's right to eminent domain? How many forces will the CIA train who will turn against us when their own people are tired of colonialism and they then turn to Civil War or Nationalism? Isn't it time that we took care of our own people at home instead of creating a rich corporate empire for the weallthy 1%?
