What's ironic is that none of these so-called true muslims ever try to take their "real" religion back from the hands of those who disgrace their peaceful religion. I have never seen a muslim group to actually stand up to the militant Islamist and teach them the "real" Islam.

What a horrible woman. Khomeini used the same kind of deception in the beginning of the revolution. He told women that Hejab is not going to be mandatory but when he killed all the progressive leaders and democratic oppositions, he quickly ordered Hejab was compulsory and women were arrested and jailed for not wearing their hejab correctly. Their faces and lips were cut by the likes of this woman in broad daylight....I wish Egyptian study what happened to Iranians before they give more power to these brutal beasts.
Couldn't agree more Dianna. Those who've never been free neither understand nor value freedom of choice and thinking for one-self. They are taught not to think for themselves nor decide their own destiny; hence, their abysmal state of oppression.

You also have to accept all the Abrahamic religions are violent and muslims need to go though the enlightenment period too. You can't change what was written in books but you can change people.

It wasn't until Science replaced Dogma and the Bible was perceived to be Metaphorical instead of Literal that women were allowed to be educated and considered equal ...a battle still being fought in some Western Cultures. MarcEdward -- a (1) The difference is not "they have Islam while we have Christianity", it's that we no longer take religion that seriously. Nobody believes that when they take communion, that wafer turns into Jesus-meat in their stomach. We are lucky that at some point our ancestors went through the enlightenment, the folks in Egypt the writer talks about have not. We're not "better", we're just lucky, and it's worth noting a huge swath of Americans would like to go back to pre-enlightenment ways (looking at YOU Southern Baptists!) (2) It's the difference between the modern world and the traditional world. In the USA, the traditional world is represented by the human-dinosaur hybrids who want kids taught creationism and scream about gay rights and want women to not have reproductive health care. If you removed Islam from history, the same primitive, traditional peoples would still be restricting women's equality for some other reason (perhaps by taking the bible literally)

They actually justify the evil misogynistic rules of Islam and say it is for the betterment of the Muslim women. Many Muslims claim that “Islam honors women,” just as they claim that Islam is a “Religion of Peace.” The truth however, is just the opposite. Islam does not honor women, but rather, holds their very lives in absolute bondage. There is no age limit for marriage of girls under Sharia. A man can pay a dowry and sign a marriage contract with the parents of a toddler girl and consummate the marriage at age 9 just because their and they think in doing that, they are just following the Sunnah. According to the Shariah, the adulterer will be stoned to death, but not many people are aware that this rule applies mostly for women, because men are allowed to have sex with their sex slaves and concubines. Even if a man and woman are caught having sex and four witnesses are also present, the punishment for women is digging up a hole and inserting her in up to her chest and then stoning her to death, whereas a man is just stoned while he is standing. And if he manages to escape, he is lucky, but a woman is not even allowed a chance to escape.
