drop dead gorgeous!
Thank you Lisa LaFontaine, because of your open heart and mind, 2500 saved, WOW!!!!!!
Excellent article and thought provoking. It's so easy to form an opinion without knowing all the facts, with people as well as animals.
As said many times, you did the best you could, with what you had. The dearest gift I've ever been given, loaned actually, showed up at my back door as a puppy and was taken from me just 4 years, too short a time, later. She literally dropped dead at my feet, no warning, no symptoms, just gone. (This little angel had brought my cold damaged heart back from a very dark place and then was just gone) My loss, my pain in losing Gracie was not getting to say goodbye. I've also made the decision to end the pain, as many others, and know the guilt and second-quessing of my decision. I think it's all part of sharing your heart. You'll find that time does heal, or softens, the pain that goes with loss. You just do the best you can at the moment.....
Diana, you're among so many of us, who have opened our hearts to these dogs despite the negative press, who know these animals are soooo special and do not deserve the sterotype. As long as we continue to fight against discrimination, some day BSL against pits will go away and they will be just another "dog". Your Che is a gorgeous girl and the pictures are great! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome story! Awesome example of love! Awesome community! I love Koda's lovely baby face!
I was told that I would have to "crate and rotate". I'm pleased to say that I've never had to do that.
I find the personality differences in my two pits so interesting! So different, both raised from about 4 months old in the same household, yet still sharing some of the traits, silly-sweetness, of others whose stories are told here on StubbyDog. Great article! Thanks for sharing your perspective!
What a grand elder-lady! Thanks Erin for opening your heart and home, providing Jema a wonderful rest of her life!
Yep, just because someone is a "trainer", doesn't mean they're a dog behaviorist expert...seen it time and again. Yay for Kahlua! Yay for Virginia's first experience in the wonderful world of bullies!
I totally agree with Mina. While I don't dwell on Vick, everytime there is something in the news regarding him wanting dogs again, the emotion surges to the surface. After reading The Lost Dogs, I doubt his name will ever not create an emotional response. I empathize too much with the dogs he hurt, tortured and killed.
When she leaves this world, she will leave having had a wonderful life, if only for a little while, with a wonderful pittie-mom. Thanks for opening your heart for this sweet soul.
Vick only quit because he got caught. What he did was done for pure pleasure. That kind of evil cannot be "fixed" with a few months in prison, where he was probably treated like a king. That kind of evil cannot be fixed.....
Great news! Thanks for sharing and being involved!
Where do I get my Jonnie Justice plush pet!! What a handsome dude!!
KUDOS to Cris Cohen, BADRAP, and everyone else involved in the rescue of Vick's victims.
I can think of another appropriate use of the ConVick dolls....melt them into those life-like piles of poop sold as gag gifts. Gag is right!!
Pinky's destiny! This lucky girl was destined to be with you two. Amazing...she ended up in the shelter you volunteered at, she was adopted more than once and brought back to the same shelter each time, which is amazing in itself, and yet again after the trainer lost his place, you broke leasing rules for months, then when you and your boyfriend split you remained friends so she continues to receive love from both of you. Awesome story and great pitty smile in that last picture!
And this is exactly how change comes about! AWESOME GROUP!!
You know Tristan, just because the majority of the responders do not support PETA, does not mean that they do not support the ethical, humane, treatment of all animals. This organization, PETA, has defined what "they" believe to be "ethical", which includes killing pets turned over to them. I am always thinking about the big picture, it breaks my heart to think of how humans treat animals. Every email, every petition, every senate hearing, I sign, read, or attend reminds of how the culture really is. I just cannot, will not, support any entity that would kill my dogs, whether it be PETA, BSL legislation, law enforcement, etc.
I think that everyone can agree that it is important to find out as much as one can about an organization who represents itself as an animal advocate, when supported financially or otherwise.
Insightful article.....thanks for printing it Laura, thanks for sharing it Mina
"how so many of us feel" Which is why I love this website! thank you Stubbydog!
