@Abdul Ameer Because you're manipulative, you've made sharia into the exact opposite of what it is in reality. The people who cause violence, and have hatred, and persecute do so in CONTRADICTION to sharia. In accordance with your deceitful character, you're exacerbating the misconception that Westerners have with sharia.

@DoctorChris For you to think that Arab men hate their women is to justify the criticism of this piece by many outraged people on the internet. If we're going to involve the UN, it should be for ALL types of women's mistreatment...physical and that which happens in the West...cultural.

He married a girl because it was an acceptable practice at that time just like it was in many other parts of the world, including Europe. 790 Muslim were killed according to the Indian government. That's how you know that it's grossly underreported. The true number is in the thousands. And that doesnt even take into consideration the number of people that were hacked and maimed. Not to mention all of the rapes.
When you say that Hinduism, Christianity, and Judaism have "successfully" responded to modernity, what you mean is that they're dying and have been altered to the point of disfigurement. What's the point of even calling them religions if they're just modern Western pop culture under different names? Islam has adapted to modern life better than any religion. It's why it is Islam that is still around, still taken seriously by more people than any other religion, and is the destination of the highest number of converts. Precisely because Islam is so well integrated into modern times.
Because you don't know what Islam is, you don't know that the dynamic nature of sharia has been the reason for the rich cultural heritage in every Muslim society. In every time, at every place. Because you're a typical Whitewashed darkie, it didn't occur to you that some 7th century solutions are still relevant today. Human beings are exactly the same. What would rapists do today if everytime they struck, they were lashed? But no, we can't look beyond Western pop culture to explain human instincts.
Islam is not like the other religions where women are discriminated against and treated like second class citizens (except maybe Buddhism). If you disagree with that, then you don't know Islam. Islam doesn't need to modernize because it is ALREADY modernized and at the same time, antiquated. That is the nature of a balanced prophetic message. The only thing you're right about is that reactionary, crude, and irrational people cannot be given credibility.
And no, India is nowhere near solving the discrimination problem. Take a ride outside the cities and you'll see how subhuman it is to be an Untouchable.
