maybe this year they will have  a legitimate contest for the starting position.  give McCoy a fair shot,  line and some weapons, and i believe he will prove to be the better QB between he & Weeden.

@jack sprat (a) is the only possible answer. sane people don't shoot people just because they "wind them up"... he wasn't a tiger.  he was a very troubled man.

do what you will Cleveland FO, but call it what it is....you want to crush any chance of Colt having the decent career of which he's entirely  capable with a decent team.

Weeden could be the second coming of Johnny U and i wouldn't matter.  they'll just get him damn-near decapitated and then chuck him just like they did their last QB. 2 years from now he will be taking second team reps behind the next QB Cleveland takes (and destroys)  with that top ten pick...

As a Titans fan, I'm at a loss as to why they didn't sign any of those free agents.  Amano has been the weak link in the O-line.

pretty much dead on here.  McCoy is far more talented and would be more successful by now if he had been on a team with decent WRs and a consistent running game.

no way to truly evaluate McCoy until he gets better protection and someone tot hrow to.  a good RB in the backfield with him is one improvement the Browns needed....but they need more. i'm not entirely convinced a 29-year old rookie is the best use of their draft picks to that end...

@rockinkuwait  @Mikaela  @sherylSnow who's on drugs?  what ""huge flaws" did he have out of college?  he had more wins than any other NCAA QB in history and missed a chance at a championship due to injury.  yes, there were questions about his size and mobility, but "huge flaws" is utter hyperbole.  i may not be a better judge of QB than Holmgren, but i won't make the same concession to you. Green Bay sure seemed to see something in the kid.  bottom line is, he has not been given a real chance to succeed in Cleveland. the whole teams blows...how much good can a rookie QB do--ANY rookie QB--with no weapons and mediocre protection.  it's hard to improve when you are running for your  life.

@Mikaela  @rockinkuwait Terry Bradshaw...Troy Aikman...John Elway...Peyton Manning...  Colt McCoy cannot be judged by what he did or did not accomplish starting for that raggedy organization in Cleveland.  if that so-called "decent line" hadn't almost got him killed we wouldn't even be having a discussion about McCoy Sr.  assessment of the team's handling of his son's injury.

@rockinkuwait you won't do much good hunting with a rusty gun and no bullets. Browns had no running game, crap WRs and a subpar Oline. Hard to excel as a rookie QB in that scenario...

exactly.  notice how the trade rumblings abruptly stopped when the Packers showed interest in Colt?

a a rule i don't like parents commenting on their NFL sons, but when the comment is so abundantly true, and the team had done so little in the way of providing adequate protection or offensive weapons to give the kid even half a chance of avoiding injury (forget actually succeeding), i have to agree with McCoy's right to speak up.  good luck Wheeden.  i hope your 29 yr old body (and head...) can take punishment.

when was the last time you saw or even heard of God striking someone down for lying, hmmm?  i will not apologize for having a distaste for religious kooks who want to rewrite history.  people believe those blatant falsehoods told in the name of religion. call me the education police if you like...i don't care about religion until they start changing the facts of history to their liking.

so tell me....what are "the moral roots of this country"...?  equality?  freedom?  pursuit of happiness?  why is a mythical diety of ANY kind required for a sense of right and wrong?

.   @sherylS yes.  thank you for clarifying.  i am aware of that.  my point was the nation was founded on democratic principles, not religious ones...  and i wasn't arguing Federal law...i was arguing Tim Tebow's erroneous version of American history.

@Skye820 God, yes.  organized religion, no.  and "not far from their thoughts" is not the same as "what the country was based on."  it was "based on" democracy, not Christianity...

this country was NOT based on "one nation under God."  i wanted to believe Tebow was one of the "real" Christians who were about acts and not crazy talk like so many of them--especially in the political realm--but this is just more of the willful ignorance of the basic truths about history of this country and its founders than radical religious types would like to rewrite.  "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance in the 1950's. the founders were for the most part  Diests, NOT Christians, and they were in no way basing the establishment of the US of A in ANY form of religious context. freedom FROM religion is as Constitutionally protected as freedom OF religion.  this saddens me about Tebow...more mission work dude...less crazy talk.
