so glad I didn't give in and get Dishonored last week. Thanks for the heads up!

I, for one, never disliked her so I'm fine with her being in another Nolan movie. She was also amazing in Les Mis and I though did Catwoman pretty well. This is the first I've heard of Interstellar, and it sounds kind of awesome. McConaughey not so much though…

I haven't read the book in awhile, but apart from the name, this seems to have very little to do with the novel. Also not sure how I feel about the horde-zombies. Though I guess 28 Days Later opened it up a little for fast moving zombies.

I just hope they don't screw up the console server stuff that's been going on that put me off of BF3. Also kind of concerned that this looks like a very iterative update from BF3. The jump from BFBC2 to BF3 was huge, though a lot of it was not for the better.

Was really hoping Lucas would have very little to do with these new films. I also hope the story lines fit with the ages of the actors.

GOTY contender? wow. Excited to play this. Just hope my Amazon shipment arrives sooner than the expected delivery date. Was the multiplayer similar to Uncharted's? I think I played that multiplayer for like half an hour.

Super excited about this! Can't wait to see what Rockstar does, especially with all the work they've done since GTA IV.

On a side note, I presume it's not by chance that the image chosen for this story looks an awful lot like Kate Upton? :P

I'm a fulltime Rdio subscriber ($10/month with the mobile). One of the things I like about it is though is you can follow other people and see what they are listening to in real time, and have a series of recommendations based on those you follow. You can also collaborate with other on playlists and search and subscribe to other people's playlists. Every once in awhile I get a notification that someone has subscribed to my RockBand tracks playlist I made.

The other big thing is 'New Music Tuesdays' when they get in all the new releases each week. Do you know if the music unlimited has any similar release schedule for additional music? Since I'm not a PS+ user and deep into Rdio, I probably wouldn't switch but it's interesting to see them offer it for a dollar a month.

To be fair, RockBand is still releasing DLC every single week and quite frankly, they probably don't need to release a new version of their game as 3 covered almost all of the problems with previous versions. I still play it every week, though it's just the drums, though I have a Roland kit hooked into it, so I'm not playing the stock 4 pad kit.

I got RockSmith awhile ago on PS3 and played it for a few weeks. It was mostly great, though I'm not super keen on the gems rotating just as they reach the 'strum this' area. I also had some difficulty reading chords, but I'm sure if I spent more time with it I'd have an easier time. Sadly the tutorials on chords for each song were not very helpful and take forever to load.

Another cool feature that I don't think you mentioned was that they apply amp/effects for your guitar for each song so your guitar songs just like it would for that song which is a really great touch.

$3 a song is a bit steep, but Dance Central has similar pricing. Not the same genre of game, but there is a fair amount of work involved for each. RockBand requires an extra dollar maybe for the Pro-guitar upgrades so in the end if would be similar to this. Though you get to play as the whole band.

I tried using the RockBand mustang but the lack of feedback and the weirdness of 154 buttons didn't work very well for me. Also all the strings in the strummable area are all the same thickness and nylon which often meant I was strumming completely the wrong string. However, RockSmith is a game I'd like to spend more time with and like actually playing guitar, requires frequent practicing.

This kind of sounds exactly the same as Day Z

Though it seems like Day Z is going for more super realism than videogame action.I guess the Walking Dead must have had some influence on all these newer zombie games.

Nice guide, though my mac mini is probably too old to run any games on it. I actually use a FragFx on my PS3 for FPS which is kind of the reverse of this.

There is however something to be said about console launches and the holiday season as it is a significant chunk of change to spend at one time instead of say a new day on the release day.

But speaking of the ps3, remember how different the launch console was from what they are offering now? It was $500-600 at launch, came with 4 USB ports and a card reader and the promise of backwards compatibility (and 20–60 GB of storage). Launching anything that expensive in light of the $299 and cheaper current gen consoles would seem like suicide.

Speaking personally, something Sony needs to do is figure out a way to let users change their country. I originally created my account in Canada but have since moved to the States. However I can't use a US credit card on that account as it won't actually let me change the country. Why I can't just agree to a localized terms of service is beyond me. I mention this mainly because the PSN store is now a chore for me as I've had to create a whole new user so I have to log out, login with that one, purchase something then move over to the original account.

I also wonder if that XBOX for $100 with 2-year contract has served MS well. I'm not advocating contract terms for consoles, just wondering if they found it to be a viable solution for some.

Users appetites for DLC content, smaller indie releases and even mobile games makes me wonder if they'll start making these smaller purchases more of the focus and easier for both the users and developers. Do they really need to be released on a weekly schedule?

A beta in the Fall 2013 seems like there really isn't even any point in announcing the game now. I mean logistically they could not have even started on it yet other than getting the green light.
