frontrow,

The Bears don't have a NEW coaching staff, they have a new OC who was on the staff. He will be using the same terminology in the offense. The difference is the design of the plays and how/what plays are called.....big difference.

I will say this about the O Line. Most of the problems were the protection schemes and the slow developing 7 step drop plays that Martz had in his offense. All that hs changed with Tice as OC. You will see quicker developing plays as well as backs and or/tight ends used to chip in pass protection...something that was seldom used the last 2 years. The difference in protection schemes and the offense will make a huge difference. If you look at all the teams Martz has coached, they all gave up a lot of pressures and sacks...it's the nature of the offense. Webb and Williams are far better players than you think. Last year before WIlliams got hurt he was probably the most consistent Bear offensive lineman. That;s nt me saying that...it's Tice! But I agree.

Quick answer....yes, but the bar changes all the time....with Cam Newton and Andy Dalton having such strong seasons last year much will be expected from many of the young QB's this year. Doesn't mean their teams have to make playoffs, but the players have to perform and show steady improvement.

Valid point, but Sanchez still has to improve his consistency as does Flacco.

I think you will find MANY people who thought Russell would bust. All you had to do was your homework? Oakland didn't!

I understand what you are saying and it's a good point. Temas take chances on defensive linemen and thats why they bust. Just think...what are you asking a defensive linemen to be?....A thug for 60-70 plays per game. He has a different mentality. Personally I find D - Linemen easy to do.

Sgt Swag,

Just to put it in simple terms.....think of a zone defense. Zone schemes block an area not a particular person. NOt as much man to man per say. You don't need as athletic guys.

The first round players are the best of the best each year and not that difficult to figure out, after that it gets harder.....My post wasn't about busts and those who make it, rather the difficulty in scouting the position. Some other may find the position easier to scout but I haev always found it rather hard....and also found it hard to get a consensus opinion

No, I'm saying that the "experts" said Elliott couldn't play left tackle and he had an All Pro career at that position. We will see if Glenn can play the position. I know one thing, Glenns workout numbers are far better than Elliot's...and I worked Elliott out before we drafted him....so on paper he is a better athlete.

He played left tackle at Georgia and that is where the Bills are playing him. Don't forget, all those evaluations you read were by amatuers! When I was with the Giants, we drafted a player who all the "experts" said would never be able to play left tackle...his name was Jumbo Elliott...went on to have a long All Pro career with the Giants....at Left Tackle!!!!! Doesn't matter what the experts said before the draft....the Bills are playing him on the left side.

SgtSwag,

There is nothing wrong with those programs. I played at Dean down in Franklin my first two years in college ( a long time ago!). WHile Dean is a 4 year school it is classified as a JC for sports. We used to scrimmage Stonehill.
