@Cyberxion Lots of people take vitamins and supplements, though. They even have them in Flintstones form for children. There is absolutely nothing in meat that is not in any other foods. The ill-effects of meat far outweigh the protein... I mean most meat you buy at the store, literally, has feces in it. It also causes cancer. I don't think too many people care what they are eating, though. If you buy pre-made bread and pastry from the store, you are eating human hair and wood. Anyway, I've been vegetarian/vegan for ten years and I've never taken any supplements. I'm in great health (I get a check-up every year). I play sports. I think most people who make the choice are fully aware of how to eat properly. I mean I imagine there are some kids being trendy or hip and trying it out, but they usually don't stick with the diet. Again, I suggest checking out Forks Over Knives.

@TomBacon Actually, societies and cultures that consume meat and dairy are the unhealthiest people on the planet. There is a huge misconception that humans evolved by hunting and eating animals. Some cultures (like ours; and look at us now) did, but there are plenty who didn't.
If you want a good source, and you have Netflix, check out Forks Over Knives. There have been decades of PH.D.-level studies on this, and not not just interviews with vegetarians who take vitamin supplements.
