@GoDawgs90 @AthensHomerDawg3 The area around Butts-Mehre is a shrinking footprint. They need a new baseball field/complex and an indoor practice facility.
Solution: move the baseball complex to the South Milledge property, near the Softball stadium. Make it state-of-the-art. Take the Foley Field property and create an IPF for football. Please include PARKING for Butts-Mehre visitors. Provide additional scooter parking for players in the existing B-M parking lot.
@highcotton @Bulldawg Bob2 sounds like BRB may need to consult High Cotton before he does these profiles. I'm not from Augusta, but have nothing but glowing reviews of BD. Whether he's a RB or a FB is really irrelevant at this point. The kid has yet to set foot on campus. It would appear he's a kid with tremendous athletic ability and HEART. What can possibly be wrong with that.
Keep the reviews coming BRB.
@TuckerDawg08 Do we need a cheater?
@dunwoodydawg @JaxDawg @CaliVisionz Don't think that's accurate.
@66DAWGnNC @RxDawg 66- I believe you're referring to former HC, Jeff Bower. Bower was a former Roswell High School standout QB. Came to UGA (I believe with another QB- Decatur High's Alan Chadwick -now 300-game winner as HC of Marist School) only to get little playing time. Transferred to So Miss and was a standout performer at QB there. He had a good run, and then they pushed him out.
Always wondered why Bower never sought out another HC job after So Miss. Believe Bower coached Brett Farve.
@ChevyDawg82 @jddawg36 Guthrie's is great. Try Peachtree Corners location in Atlanta.
I just got off one of the UGA pay sites and am amazed by the idiots trying to blame CMR and the UGA staff for the actions of players. The IC situation was totally avoidable if he had adhered to guidance handed down to him (and every player) when they arrive in Athens. FACT- Each player is read the riot act about weapons before they are handed a key to the ECV dorm room. Everything from steak knives to guns is discussed, as is the zero-tolerance policy should these rules be broken.
I hope these young freshmen coming in remember what their coaches tell them and listen to their team mates that are "in the know." The old adage of choosing your friends carefully, is always important.
Give the coaching staff credit for running an efficient "ship." The players are the ones who must be responsible citizens and realize the microscope they fall under as a UGA player.
Gotta love those abs!
@KershDawg @MichaelBooker @Deverauxdawg It was a fat paycheck that factored into the ProCombat unis also.
@Ricky "El Gringo" McDurden @mcgill @Ricky Go Guthrie's for the chicken tenders!
I could be totally "off," but IMO the Dawgs will display the running game against Buffalo. Probably a base set of plays that will come as no surprise to Missouri scouts. Look for two-TE sets and conservative play-calling from CMB. Malcome, Crowell probably get the lion's share of the snaps- keeping Marshall and hopefully Gurley under wraps until the world sees what a stable of hosses we have against Missouri. I think we'll see an improved running game.
@Coondawg I think you're right, Coondawg. Lynch, Rome, and now they've moved former OL, Hugh Williams to TE. Williams (Marist -255lb) has had difficulty gaining weight and getting heavy enough to stick in an OL rotation of 280-315 pounders. Look for his blocking skills to be a bonus there...
@Socrates @BPoin34 As posted earlier- Jenkins and Geathers have wreaked havoc throughout the spring. When on the field together, they make a formidable defensive front. ben jones couldn't stop them. Look for our OL to continue to gel between now and August. They'll be getting bigger and stronger before the team (and incoming freshman class-read Theus) reports. The Oline will be better IMO if for no other reason than they are going against an experienced and talented D Line every day at practice.
@dwillsdawg @Coach P That's a crock! Norman's got the talent or he wouldn't be back there. We need more players with his desire and intelligence.
@GoodJobDaveMan @ajdawg you can worry, but it won't help matters. See how the spring plays out...
AxlrodesSwabbyDawg Searels didn't forget how to coach the OL when he arrived at UGA. He saw the need for changes in the S&C program and wasn't around once the changes occurred...Can't blame a man for taking a huge pay raise. As great place as the Classic City is, he has a family to think of.
You can blame him for spotty recruiting, but his reputation there is satisfactory; or bad luck with injured OL guys... Tough call. Hopefully Friend can get the job done!
J.H.D=Chubb=DAWGUGA83 Glad to chime in. I am a big fan of LHB, and you all shake out most of the nonsense being put out on the internet sites. The recent OL issues are more complex. Injuries, transfers, academic casualties took their toll. This spring should be a good indicator of how much the OL improves. I hear they are working hard this off season. G Day may be a great preview of things that can get better if J. Theus arrives ready and able to contribute in June.
J.H.D=Chubb=DAWGUGA83 The jury may be out on taking the bigger guys and trying to pare down their weight versus taking a smaller, more athletic player and trying to put weight on them. As an example, some of the "heavy weights" come in with existing knee problems, where as a "lighter" OL, with the right frame- can be "custom built" into a blocking machine via S&C, and nutrition.
Look at our guys earmarked as OTs- Sturdivant, Benedict, and Ward, all had issues with knee injuries. Is that a fluke?
