Poe has the best shot of the list but I'd be stunned if any of our rookies made the pro bowl this year, I think this is a more developmental class.
@sidibeke Yeah Patrick pointed this out in his post, but he just said the Mock was based on the reverse power rankings and nothing else
So shocking, wish Junior could have found help before it was too late. Prayers to the family, RIP Junior
Interesting, they project us to make the playoffs but still get rid of Cassel. I like Jones' upside especially at that pick
Chargers had a great draft but their line still has question marks and they don't have Vincent Jackson anymore I think that causes them to struggle.
Denver has Peyton Manning that's scary but what else?Oakland, yeah spot on.Chiefs have the best defense in the AFC West and an up and coming offense, along with many returning players. I think KC is the division favorite to win it all in my book.
Wylie was definitely drafted to have more competition at the slot where we're certainly lacking depth/talent. As some here will know the guy I really really wanted was T.Y. Hilton.
I'd love for Wylie to succeed, and it's fun to go on youtube and see clips of the guy and get excited, but I have my concerns. Having seen the guy play in person he's quick but also tends to disappear for periods of a time. I hate the argument that "oh he went against the WAC so his stats don't count" but I do think that in the case where a player has a pretty impressive stat sheet and then still get's criticized. Mr. Wylie did not have said production, I think he went over 100 yards twice and he caught 1 touchdown all year...... ONE..
He's a exciting and fantastic returner, I remember watching my team kick to him and cringing each time, I hope he can help the chiefs there. And certainly if his talents are coached up maybe he can contribute but he has legitimate injury concerns, average hands, and questionable ball security, he's quick and agile which may help develop his route running and I certainly wish him the best.
But it seems like most people never heard of the guy on here, went on youtube and then said "wow" and I can't blame them, that's pretty much how I was when Dexter got drafted. But having seen Wylie for a few years I'm more on the cautiously optimistic side.
@kc01 So you're basically talking about when it comes time to resign a player that the chiefs don't want to pay big money?
3 Safeties, no surprise there
@Ehud @OhioChief I wish too, I really hope Moore get's a shot, he's one of the smartest most impressive QBs I've ever watched, shame the knock he gets for height, etc
Here's my grades since other's are posting theirs as well.Poe - B: He's grown on me a little, I know Pioli has been searching for his NT for a while now and it seems obvious they are hard to come by. Similar to QB it seems like sometimes you have to take a risk on a guy. The biggest saving grace is he doesn't have character concerns, if he had that AND no tape I'd be very worried. Very boom/bust worthy but RAC should know what he's looking for in the position.Allen - B+: Pioli and RAC seem to love the guy, he's versatile, proven starter in college, I like the pick a lot and I think he'll help us. There were some other options and a ton of value in the second but I'm excited about this guy.
Stephenson - D+: Honestly, watching the press conference, you kind of see how they light up over the first two picks and are kind of moot about Stephenson. Seems like a lot of tackles were graded higher but to each his own, on the bright side he has some experience, played against good competition and fits the zone blocking scheme, I would have liked for us to go elsewhere I think we could have got a tackle in the fourth.
Wylie - D: I quickly realize the addicts love this pick, it's probably my least favorite, but I hope I'm wrong. The positive is this guy is a sick returner often times when I'd watch him play we'd punt away from him. The negative is beyond that he kind of disappeared. Scored one TD all year, yeah he's agile and quick but so is Dexter, and Dexter has better hands, I would have liked Eric Page here for the same WR role based on what I've seen. Character wise doesn't seem to have any problems and I really hope he does well I just see him as being one of those guys we look at 3 years from now and he's not doing anything except maybe special teams.
Menzie - A: Agree with Ehud here, what a fantastic pick as a 5th rounder. Starting experience, played under saban, and should be able to fit in nicely as a complimentary DB and not a #1 or #2 guy, good size for the position, I think Menzie was a fantastic value at this point.
Gray - B: Good Pick this low, ironically the guy I wanted, Winston Guy was taken one selection earlier. I liked Polk better as a runner but he went undrafted
Long - B: It's the 7th, low risk all reward here, haven't seen him play honestly but seems to be a guy with coachable upside.
Hemmingway - C+: Again the 7th so not bad, competitive guy, finds a way to make plays, not super productive but flashed. Opposite of Wylie, not super quick but good hands, pretty much him and Wylie rolled into one would make a solid WR.
Overall Grade: B-Think this draft has potential to be good. I'm feeling pretty safe about Allen and Menzie beyond that I'm not sure. Obviously Poe is going to impact how this draft is viewed. If he's a boom rather than bust, that will make up for a ton of picks even if those don't pan out. The bright side is our offensive line has some good depth now, if Wylie can be coached up not to go "casper mode" in games we could use someone with hill skill set, hoping we get some good undrafted guys signed, really disappointed we didn't address Safety with one of the picks.
@Arowhead_Addict @merlin_AA it is indeed, and good point, there's still some guess left though especailly in the 6th/7th
@Ehud @merlin_AA Can't see our next pick being offense, could see a variety of D options
@merlin_AA I agree, nice pick
@TerrellTyrance Having seen him in person twice, and on television a bunch, I will say this he has some fantastic return skills but as a wideout he disappears a lot and his speed will be less of a factor at the next level than it was in the WAC
@Ehud @LyleGraversen Hearing a ton of rumors that Taylor was KC's pick if SD didn't jump ahead
@merlin_AA Carson Palmer and Leinart USC reunion ha
Woah anyone else see this, Leinart to the Raiders?....http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7865952/matt-leinart-visit-oakland-raiders-sources-say-signing-likely
Here was my endorsement after Ty Hilton in the slothttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmDWJW0wmVIHow many of you really like Wylie over Page?
@laddiemorse In his defense Fresno wasn't too good last year so he didn't have much around him
