Drew Davis enrolling at UNC says more about his character than words that can be spoken. His father coaching at UNC should have nothing to do with him as a player. If he rises through the ranks great, and if he doesn't he better challenge the defense every day from the scout team.
He did play in a spread offense under Bill Renner and is probably more suited for that offense than the one ran in Miami.
@coltsguy510 That is good stuff, but I think athlete in this regard may be explosion off the drill getting their own shot. Rivers has been better in that phase, but Kendall explodes off the drill to create shots for teammates.
@TarHeelsFanRenn First thanks for commenting. I think Rivers has potential to be very good. I did not think another year would really tell much more about Marshall. If Rivers makes it through the rocky waters no pun intended then his career could be fantastic, but some guys go in the league not ready and never make it to the second contract regardless of who their daddy is.
I guess the only solace in Jordans pick is that he wanted Phil Jackson to take over the Bulls.

@maddog73 You are right. Renner looked crisper than I thought he would. He will put up big numbers this fall. this offense requires quick decision making as well as athleticism. A piece that gets overlooked more often than not by the experts who were shouting for Williams prior to the spring game.
I am not going to say never, but realistically each year there are about 10 teams that can win it all. They usually reside in historical powerhouse football universities. Having 85 scholarships has increased that field a little, but even with that the big boys still rule. Think about some of the schools that have committed to football for years who have not won a title in the past 30 years.
Never say never but competing for a conference title should be priority number 1. Wait beating NC State is one.
Thomas Robinson is a good player, but I want you to remember he did not even start until his junior season. Is he truly someone you are ready to roll the dice on with the second pick in the draft? I cannot say that about anybody after Anthony Davis with confidence. Whoever they select better not be a bust.

Haley has more opinions on this and the impact of paying athletes goes beyond his disgust for some of the actions by former Tar heels. There are ways some of the players receive more money than I ever dreamed while i was in college.
Debbie Keller who unfortunately later sued Coach Dorrance was the National Player of the Year for womens soccer, and told me she was not on a full ride her senior year because she gave some money bak in her scholarship to help land another top recruit. This was routinely done in womens soccer the winning est program in the nation.
Steve Spurrier, college football and the rest of men's basketball say these things, but my example of above is what should never happen before anyone gets paid. The baseball team that has been to how many CWS??? Receives 11 full scholarships to split amongst the team?
Football and Basketball players should be grateful for what they receive, and the degree they get from their University. That is if they graduate. Look at the number of big time football and basketball programs that do not graduate kids.
I am all for assisting kids in need for family issues, but a slippery slope is being tossed out there and as a person becoming more jaded with sports each day this is an issue I will never support.
