I know it won't happen, but we all know Memphis has its bruisers down low. If they become too much to handle for Timmy & Splitter, I hope Pop would try Baynes for at least a little while to see how he matches up with them. The dude has the size to bang with them while Timmy & Splitter may get pushed around a bit. GSG!

Maybe our second round pick and rights to Denmon. I don't know that I would give up too much for him.

I've liked Tiago, but he seems to be bumbling around with Bogut this series. I don't know if it's the playoffs in general or just a bad matchup with a bigger post player. I can't recall one good Splitter play of the series off the top of my head, but sure can recall some bad ones. Maybe that selective memory...

I expect to see more Hack-A-Bogut in this game.

Like ajd21 said, the Spurs were rusty to start. The commentators kept giving GS props on their defense, but honestly the Spurs were playing like crap, they couldn't get anything to fall. I think GS is going into a downward spiral in this series. The amount of minutes Curry logged has to cause problems down the line in this series. I know he's young, but you can't ride him the whole time. When Splitter comes back and we are back to normal again I think games will be more balanced from the beginning.

I don't know that it would be a huge hit immediately, but he was being groomed to replace Pop. I respect his decision to take a head coach position, but I really wish other teams would leave our talent alone!

We need a servicable backup for Kawhi. It seems we have the backup PG position covered, but we could use someone who can provide some coverage for Leonard.

Splitts out for 7-8 days... we need to sweep the flakers so we can all rest for round 2! GSG!

I was thinking Spurs in 5, but I wouldn't be surprised by a sweep. However, knowing (well, not knowing) Pop, he may throw a game just so we don't get jinxed by a winning streak again this year lol. We looked better against the Lakers than we have in a while, I just hope it gets better from here!

I really don't get it. Why didn't we keep him another month or so until we have gone as far as we will go? What do we have to gain by cutting him now? We didn't have to resign him next season, but he could provide some reliability during the playoffs when we have had injuries and have not played our best basketball thus far. I guess I'm just left shaking my head...

You know, I can't blame the guy, but I sure hope he resigns with us. He is finally clicking in the system and I would hate for that effort of training and learning to be wasted as he walks away. Quality big men are hard to come by so I expect we will pay to keep him. As a rookie contract do we have Bird Rights on him?

@Emicris  @spursfan80 I could get behind that. But I still think Manu has become the 4th leg...

There is no doubt that Kawhi is going to be awesome! I would even concede that he may have taken Manu's spot in the Big 3, blasphemous I know. He seems like the loyal type, but I sure hope he resigns when his contract expires because he is going to be glitzed by many teams when that time comes... Now when can I get my Leonard jersey?

@Chris32 and has a decent possibility of getting a ring!

Sure he's a Homer, but he played for this team for many years and has loyalties to them. That is partly why he got the job as an announcer anyway. If you tune into a local broadcast then what do you expect. Maybe he should preface every game to let fans of other teams know that he once played for the spurs and will be their official Homer for the evening. Or they can just give a quick shot of his retired jersey hanging from the rafters... I think he's earned the right to be a Homer!

I don't want to see them because if they got it together enough to make the playoffs that means they are starting to mesh. This lakers team firing on all cylinders could be problematic. I still think we can win but it will be difficult. Plus I like the possibility that they may not even make the post season...

2 months, 3 weeks ago on Do the Spurs want the Lakers in the playoffs?

Reply

@WOWWOWBAD I'm sure someone will pick him up this summer. His stock is low, but I think if he had regular minutes the guy could be pretty decent. Not a starter, but he could be 2nd off the bench for some teams. I still think the Spurs are in it for this season and anything less than a 1st round pick is wasted. He can give a break to Duncan/Splitter as the regular season closes. He knows the system and can be a spark off the bench when we are slumping. A late 2nd round won't help us during the playoffs this year (or for several years probably). The Spurs are in a time crunch and racing against Duncan's retirement to get another banner. Even in a limited roll Blair is more useful to them now than a late pick later...

I'm glad we kept blair rather than get a late 2nd rounder for him. Unless we were getting a good pick for him or packaging him in a larger deal his contract wasnt worth much. He will be good for the spurs when we want to sit duncan before the playoffs. How many teams wanted to give up a good pick for a guy who's contract runs out in a few months. They can keep their pick and get him in free agency...
