@jennalanger @CherylSmithem Yes, getting a fully custom site at the start saves time, helps set your brand from the get go, rather than having to rebrand later.
Self-hosted WordPress as a CMS is more flexible and easier to customize. And there are more web designers and developers capable of helping you maintain it or customize it. We find that it is the best choice for our clients. Though if you are just going to get your thoughts out and need a simple platform, Tumblr is certainly easy to begin using. Fewer controls mean fewer screw-ups. However, for a fully customized experience, we prefer self-hosted WordPress.
