I've got AZ and SF lined up for road trips, tickets and lodging all set. Gotta see those new stadiums. I honestly think I like road games better. If I'm gonna be a visitor, it's better to actually be on the road rather than at your home stadium. Such is the life a Charger fan living in SD with all the Goddamn transplants who retain their allegiances to their hometown teams.

I gotta say - watching those dirty, cheatin' donkeys go down like that never gets old. How'd ya like that trip by Beadles - right out of the Steve Herndon School of Dirty Bronco O-Lineman play. You all remember that dude, Right? I know Ross remembers him. He hit Jaamal Williams in the back of his knee AFTER a play. Those arrogant fucking donkeys got everything they deserved yesterday. I loved the shot of that pouty little bitch Eli. I wish they had shown Archie to, that would've been even better. Now we don't have to watch any Peyton commercials for awhile but make no mistake - the Manning ball-washing by the media will recommence as the 2014 season approaches.
However, along with the pleasure of watching such a thorough corn-holing of the mules comes the hard reality that right now there are no teams in the AFC that can challenge the big dogs of the NFC - the 'Hawks and 49ers, unless something changes drastically this offseason. The real Super Bowl was played 2 weeks - the NFC CG. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the AFC West goes up against the NFC West this year. Top to bottom that division is murder - maybe the 4 most physical teams in the league. Should be interesting.

Fuck all that historical shit about how the Chargers blew it gain, they weren't even supposed to be in this game. Fuck all that. And while I'm at it, FUCK the donkeys, fuck their fans, and fuck the NFL. You got what you wanted assholes, Manning vs Brady. One of those fuckers is going to the SB, AGAIN! Fuck, I wish both those fuckers would just get the fuck out. Anyway, too little to late. I'm not gonna get into plays that weren't made the best team won. It just pisses me off that it looked like this whole thing was orchestrated to get those asshats together again. Manning drop dead. Brady drop dead. I can only hope that the NFC SB representative just beats the shit outta whichever asshat takes the field for the AFC.
We still need help on the OL, and hope that DA or M80 come back strong next season. That was a decidedly substandard showing by the offense. Defense, please for God's sake get somebody who can consistently pressure the QB. We're still waiting.
I'm so hot I need another beer or 2, or 3.

There's so much to talk about going into this game, so many questions. I could fill several paragraphs. Usually going into a huge game like this I start feeling the butterflies in my stomach on Thursday and the tension just increases as the game gets closer. But not this week. And it's not because I'm sure the Chargers are going to win. I think they have a decent chance but I don't expect them to win. At the beginning of the season I swore to myself that I wasn't going to get pulled into another emotional meat grinder and I've done a pretty good job of that. I was very happy with the win last week but not to the point where I was out running in the streets screaming or driving my car around waving my Charger flag, which I have done in the past after games like that. I've been much more even-keeled this season, even when games were being frittered away, because I figured it's just the same old Chargers. And when it got to 5-7 I resigned myself to it being just another lost season and pretty much checked out emotionally. Maybe I haven't completely checked back in yet. Maybe I never will. Maybe I've come to realize that it's just not that important anymore. But knocking Peyton and the Donkeys out of the playoffs in Denver would be so sweet it's almost too much to hope for.
All the emotional BS aside there are some questions to deal with and facts to face going into this game. Fact: Getting Welker back is going to help Denver's offense. There's no denying that. Can a healthy, energized Charger defense do enough to offset his return? Fact: Denver's defense, without Von Miller and some other starters, appears vulnerable right now. Can the the Charger offense with a banged up line and a gimpy Ryan Mathews take advantage of it? Can they hold the ball and limit Denver's posessions the way they did in the two regular season games? Doubly important to do so since Denver will be more potent with Welker back. Fact: The Chargers must score TOUCHDOWNS every time they get in the redzone. You can bet that Denver will be thinking TD every time they get the ball. Field goals will not win this game, unless it's a walk-off scenario. And one more fact: Trindon Hoilliday remains a very dangerous weapon in the return game. It seems like he's been forgotten, at least by the media. He can't be overlooked.
I think that's enough for now. GO BOLTS!!!
I think it's worth noting that the Chargers' best, most dominant games this season have come on the road. They just seem to play with more focus and intensity than they do at home.

HOLY SHIT! What has gotten into the D? I know, facing Andy Dalton helps but that was awesome. All of this is so completely unexpected. Great to see Ronnie Brown put it away. The Donkeys are next. Peyton, fucking Peyton. Lets keep this ride going!!!
Well, I'm not sure I know what to say except that was one of the most bizarre football games I've ever seen. UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE. I think the football gods were smiling on the Chargers today. No other explanation.

So reminiscent of the 2005 win over the Colts. Let's hope we're 2-0 in the last two instead of 0-2 as we were back then, and see what happens. Great night to be a Bolts fan. Fight on Bolts.

Nice to see them hang on for the win. Those 24-0 halftime leads make me nervous. Can't say I like the matchup this Thursday. Oh well, there's always next year right?
7 months, 2 weeks ago on Is There Anything To Be Excited About At This Point? (Part II)
Well I've just returned from the Q, where Dean Spanos has a firm grip on the $79 I just wasted to watch his team. Yes I broke my own vow not to attend a home game this season, but now that my curiosity has been satisfied I don't need to bother with it anymore this season. On a day when the defense actually played a decent game (except for those instances when they HAD to have a stop with the game on the line), the offense laid a great big fucking egg. The team was as listless as the crowd, as if they had been out in the lot before the game partying up. I've come to the conclusion that by and large Charger fans just don't give a crap about the outcome, that's it's just a few who get upset enough to actually express their displeasure at sites like this. Same with the ownership (but they don't express their displeasure because they got our money). It was a beautiful day and everyone had a great time in the lot and the sense was that the game didn't matter too much. But it's alright Chargers at least you tried (and failed again), and that winning thing is overrated anyway, just ask Spanos. Enjoy your offseason boys.

Here I am to eat my helping of crow. Hmmm yummy. Hats off to the offense for overcoming the Chiefs, the crowd, the refs, and their own shitty defense. It was good to see Pagano tearing into them on the sideline though it didn't help much. Poor dude. Nothing to work with. Anyway, we'll see what happens next, though if it's serious for Fluker I'm not sure I want to see.
8 months ago on Fiat Justitia Ruat Caelum
Lets see, 2 more red-zone field goals, a roughing-the-passer penalty that took a turnover away from the defense and handed a TD to the opposition (way to go Liuget), a taunting penalty that basically took way a 20 yard gain (thank you for your contribution KA). Throw in a whole bunch of crappy tackling and you get another frustrating loss. A an opponent left for dead is suddenly alive and well. And to top it all off they are in last place behind the Raiders! Congratulations you fucking clowns you really did your selves proud today!
Derek Cox please go away.
Marcus Gilchrist you looked like an animal caught under a steam roller.
4-7 coming up, bank it. Their chances of winning in KC are roughly equal to the speed of light times a negative number.
December will be black out month in San Diego, all 4 games. Keep your Goddamn tickets you fucking losers.
This will be the first season since 1967 that I don't attend a single home game.

I hate this Dolphin game. They have the defense to give Rivers and the offense a real bad time. While their O-Line is in shambles right now, I have serious doubts that this Charger defense can take advantage of this opportunity. I don't feel good about this game at all, but I guess most of that stems from having watched this script play out the wrong way too many times. I predict Sunday evening we'll be hearing the same old tired lines from the coaches and players about not being able to score TD's in the red zone, too many turnovers, not forcing enough turnovers and blah blah blah. Hope I'm wrong but I've been right about this stuff a lot lately. Hey look, I got though an entire post without using any bad words!
@Lucab12 Ross yeah I know I guess I was just glad they didn't get up by 20 and then fuck it away at the end again. I knew the D was going to get shredded and they did but gave up "only" 28. I think the game was won by the donkey's D. I guess my one bitch would be VB's continued crappy play featuring a dropped TD. Other than that it was pretty much what I expected. Sure sucked seeing the Q looking like Mile High Stadium West. Anyway my expectations were very low for the season but of course there are those 3 games they fucked away to pull the rug out from under us again. It's a next-year team always has been I have my doubts that it will ever change.
8 months, 1 week ago on Walk Tall Or Don't Walk At All
Hey, I got no complaints. The missed fg-td at the end of the 1st half-td at the start of the 2nd half killed them. Fuck Manning, fuck the Donkies, and fuck all their shit-ass fans. Manning - I hope it's serious and I hope the Chiefs finish your ass next week. Can't wait for you to get your over-valued ass out of the league.
8 months, 2 weeks ago on Walk Tall Or Don't Walk At All
@boltrunner First of all credit to the team for making a nice comeback. Not many teams in the league can pull off that sort of thing. Down 10 with 6:30 to go in the game I didn't think they had a chance. Therein lies the problem with so many people being upset with the outcome. Personally I went from thinking "no chance" to thinking "they're actually going to win this thing, what a huge win this is" and then had the rug pulled out from under me - again. Makes me wish it had just stayed 24-14. The last 3 plays in regulation - yeah the play calls were questionable but like the players said, it's up to them to execute whatever's called and they fucked it up - again. Honestly I think the coaches are doing all they can with this bunch but there's still too many fuckups on this team, especially on defense. I've gone from thinking Pagano doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground to thinking the guy just doesn't have enough quality players, which he clearly doesn't. Oh well, I didn't think they'ed win more than 4 games this year and they're already there but I don't think there's more than a couple winnable games left. KC and Den twice plus @Miami and home to the Bengals. At this point I don't think any of those are winnable. Fuck it, this is nothing but a next-year team, always has been, always will be.

@Osaka17 This is not a shot a people who support the team but don't live in SD. You can't appreciate the relationship between the hometown fans and the team unless you live here, which I do. I can't believe people still don't get the animosity of the fans towards the team. Mostly all they've done is just piss everybody off by continually ripping their hearts out. I'm telling you if they had just won one goddamn Super Bowl there would already be a new stadium and we wouldn't be talking about this. I'm not gonna get into the whole stadium issue, I'm just gonna limit my post to the fans and the team. The fans are just mentally beaten down here. No team has disappointed it's fans like the Chargers. Many have just given up and understandably so. The prices are high and aren't coming down, the team sucks and has for most of its existence, and the present seems no different than the past. It's very gloomy here.

10 months ago on In The End It Was Something More I Guess That Tore Us Apart And Made Us Weep
I'd like to amend my stance on Pagano. I've been unfair to him. I'm not necessarily saying he's the guy for the job but I don't know of a DC out there that could do much with this crew. My gosh what a bunch o' nothing. All you can do is try to get guys in position to make plays but they either can't get there or if they do they still fuck it up somehow. I'm still having a hard time with how certain players on that defense were oversold to the fans during the offseason but said players have disappeared to this point. Besides Weddle and Donald Butler I don't think there's another guy over there that could start for another team. Telesco god bless you you've got your work cut out for you I hope you're up to it.
@Lucab12 No team can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory like the Chargers. No even close. And no team comes close to making heretofore struggling QB's look like the second coming of Brady/Peyton than the Charger defense. That defense is like an elixir for guys like Locker. It's uncanny. I bet Weeden is sittin' there thinking "If only I could play against that defense, it might save my otherwise hopeless career". I wonder how many QB careers have been saved by the Chargers. Blaine Gabbert may get his chance. But worst of all is the way the organization seems so nonchalant about the whole thing, as well as the SD media. I can't believe no one has asked Pagano what he's going to do to fix the problem. It's Cotrell all over again, only there are no candidates on the staff to replace him like there was when Rivera took over. Ah but again it doesn't matter b/c this season was in the shitter before it even began.
You knew when Marcus Fucking Gilchrist dropped that pick that the Titans were going to take it. Goddamn defense, can't make a fucking play to save themselves. No pressure, no turnovers, just another painful L. Oh well, we all know this is a throw away season anyway.
I hope that win over a mediocre-at-best Eagles team doesn't get everybody too excited. Yes it was encouraging to see the team fight through all the adversity and gut it out, but this fan base tends to go overboard when the team wins a game like the one last Sunday. Games like that tend to raise expectations to an unrealistic level. My expectations are the same going forward as they were before the first game. The Chargers are very flawed, especially on defense, which as you all know was touted by the organization as a strength going into the season. Strength my ass, it has regressed as evidenced by the statistics - 480 yards per game, 1 turnover forced, sacks not sure but not many. The numbers don't lie. It's still the same old bend-but-don't-break shit we've seen through so many seasons. I'm with you Ross - I can't stand the sight of Mathews, who had the gall to say that the fumble wasn't his fault. With an attitude like that there's no hope for him. Oh well, he'll be outta here after the season, and none too soon.
This is a tough matchup coming up on Sunday. They're not going to be able to move the ball and score against the Titans like they did against the Eagles. Hope I'm wrong. So it's going to come down to how well their very suspect defense holds up against a so-so offense. Those so-so offenses can look pretty good against a defense like the Chargers', especially when said offense is playing at home. We'll see.
I meant "shift" not "shit" though I'm not sure which is more appropriate in this instance.
10 months, 1 week ago on Is There Anything To Be Excited About At This Point?
To answer the question in the lead-line - NO. Besides the obvious, why am I so negative? Because the defense that this team touted all fucking offseason is mediocre at best. And Pagano has already started with the excuses - this player and that player are new to the system and they were out of position on that 3rd and 18 play (the play where you could feel abrupt shit in momentum, just like last year in NO after the pick six was called back that would've made it 31-14) and blah blah blah. Despite all the personnel changes it looks the same and it sounds the same - "We've got to learn how to finish games" - sound familiar? And btw how do you teach a team to finish games? What a fucking mess.
Well, everyone ready for the next bed-shitting episode? Cuz here it comes.

@AntonioGrilloNeto @sdjeff @Osaka17 And that was Matt Freaking Schaub and the Texans, not Brady and Patriots or Peyton and Broncos. I had no idea their offense was such a juggernaut.
10 months, 2 weeks ago on This Will Bring Me Ruin Though I Suppose It's Pleasing
@Osaka17 It was McCoy's 1st game but not Pagano's. Another one like that against the Eagles and direct, intense heat should be applied to his ass. He's a holdover from the last regime, not necessarily McCoy's choice. It looked exactly the same as previous years. Dwight Freeney did not just forget how to get to the QB. Learn how to use your players correctly Pagano or get the fuck outta here. 3 TD lead in the 3rd - game should have been over.
@WW Yep, 3 or 4 years from now TT and MM will be shown the door along with Rivers (maybe sooner for him) and they'll be starting over again, maybe from LA. The whole thing is so utterly hopeless and depressing that I wish I had never started following this team. I'd like to just go cold turkey on them but that would be very difficult. Anyway, 0-2 coming up followed by 0-?.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - fuck this team, fuck it to fucking hell.
Good read once again. Sorry to say but I feel another throw away year coming but TT and MM are gonna need some time to clean up the horrendous mess left by AJ and Norv so I guess to the extent possible I'm OK with it. It is what it is (oops did I say that?). I'm not sold on Pagano as DC and if this defense doesn't make further progress this season I think there's a decent chance he'll be gone he's not necessarily MM's guy. Also Mathews better stay healthy and hang on to the ball or this could be it for him as well as Acee pointed out is recent column. Don't underestimate the value of a good LT especially when you have a QB who is basically a statue. That's it for now good luck with book.

Ross, belated birthday wishes. 42? Shit, you're a kid. Enjoy it. Anyway, excellent read. I've had many of the same thoughts lately. TT & MM are in a really tough spot. I have no problem with what they've done or haven't done so far. The Legion has to understand that moves like letting Vasquez walk are actually steps towards making the team better. How? Maybe he wasn't the type of player they need to do the things McCoy wants to do. It's going to take 2 or 3 years to get those players. I know that sounds like a long time and I'm not real happy about it myself, especially in light of all the shit we've been through the last few seasons, but it's reality. But I have to think that the message has been received loud and clear by the remaining players. The fucking country club has been closed. Who knows, maybe they'll surprise us this coming season or in 2014 with a season like, as you said, 2004 (hopefully with a better ending). And I'm with you - this time of year absolutely sucks if you're a football junkie. March Madness - it's nice. Baseball? The fucking Padres don't even exist as far as I'm concerned. At least you've got the Yankees out there. The NBA? WTF is that? Anyway hang in there. I'm looking forward to the next installment.
Let's see what happens when a close game is on the line. That will be very telling. Will there be anymore 4 & 29 disasters? Anymore double-digit leads blown in the second half of games? Will there be effective in-game adjustments? When these types of problems are corrected is when we'll know things have truly changed. Also, more accountability please. No more of this encounter group bullshit. These are MEN, not boys, getting paid a lot of money to do a job. I'm very curious to see how this unfolds. Fuck, this is going to be one long, long off-season.

This is just another example of how out of touch this team is with it's fan base. Mr Johnston seems to have forgotten what transpired in the previous 2 years beginning with the loss to the Jets in the playoffs. I could go back decades to cover all the other disappointments this franchise has laid on it's fans but it would take too long. The affect is cumulative. This anger and frustration have been building for a long time. The players don't understand b/c their perspective is derived only from their time here. Bill should try working for a team in a market like New York or Philadelphia before he accuses the fans of over-reacting. Such bullshit. OK Bill, we'll take our chill pill but the effect it's going to have this time is flat out apathy. But at least it'll be quiet at the stadium.

1 year, 9 months ago on Monday | Articles
We've been over this so many times. If the Chargers got to the AFCCG and lost, would that make everybody happy? Not me. But that would allow Norv to keep his job and this circus would be allowed to continue for God know's how long. He should have been gone already. To use Ross' phrase, I "throw up a little bit in my mouth" at the sight of him. As for this game, once again it's a top shelf QB against our over-matched secondary, which is never a good thing for them, and if Gaither can't go it''s gonna be real long night for lead foot if they can't run the ball. And if there's adjustments to be made, count on them not being made. I'm sorry but I don't like our chances. Hope I'm wrong, sort of.
I'm sure no one is surprised about the result. This was a very winnable game. This is the kind of loss that comes back to haunt a team late in the season, when you're in a tight race and you think it sure would be nice to have not let that game get away. And Rivers with his "we can learn from this" bullshit. Hey Philip, it's not like it hasn't happened before. Aren't you supposed to have learned by now? That's just the thing - Norv's teams never learn their lessons. I'll refrain from making any predictions about the Bronco game since usually I wind up looking like an idiot. But my faith is ever waning.
1 year, 9 months ago on Week 5 | Articles
Well, time for me to man up and admit I was wrong about the 2-4 thing at the bye. Glad of it to. Now having said that I'm not real confident about our overmatched secondary going up against Drew and his boys. But then again I'm not playing. But if the Chargers plan on being in their base defense a lot of the time it's going to be a long long night. No less than 5 db's every play. Screw the run. The Saints aren't going to beat you that way. They rip off a couple nice runs who gives fuck. Sooner or later they'll get bored with it. You need speed to handle that offense - in the secondary and rushing the passer. Get your fastest rushers in there and get after him. They need to play Brees in a manner similar to the way they've played Peyton in the past. So there's my 2 cents worth. I will be at the game, unless I pass out on Bourbon Street before.
1 year, 9 months ago on No More, No More | Articles
@Lucab12 @sdjeff Just to clarify, I was at the game. I was just trying to say that it's easier to analyze a game when watching on tv. But after seeing an effort like that, who are they going to beat? KC there? That's always been a house of horrors for the Chargers and the Chiefs and their fans are going to be pumped up. At NOLA (I'll be there)? Drew Brees lives to beat the Chargers. Denver at the Q? OK, that's a maybe but still I don't think today's debacle will inspire confidence in any coach, player, or fan as to what happens for the remainder of the season.
1 year, 10 months ago on It's Time To Matter | Articles
Well that was a complete shit sandwich. The cupcakes are out of the way. Today the Chargers went up against a real NFL team, and it showed. Without the benefit of TV I'll have to provide my "observations" based only on being at the game (what a waste of money that was). So here they are.
1) The o-line is absolutely pathetic, and unless Gaither gets back soon then there will be many more performances like today's
2) I'm sorry but I see no improvement in the defense. Remember who the defense went up against in first two games. Pagano is just like all the other failed d-coordinators we've had in the past. Seemingly no idea how to get to the QB. Third down remains a nightmare. If it's not the scheme it's the players and that points back to AJ.
3) Every fucking week I hear Norv talk about how much this work this team has to do. It seems like none of it ever gets done. They just go out and make the same stupid mistakes which has been a hallmark of his career as a HC. However, not to contradict myself, he's not the one fumbling the ball on the 2 and throwing stupid interceptions.
4) Ryan Mathews is not suited to carry LT's jock strap. I'm so sick of that dude. He has the body of a god but he's fragile and fumble prone which sucks if you're a RB
5) While I've already called out the o-line, Rivers has to shoulder some of the blame for some really rookie-like mistakes, notably the horrible interception just before half to set Falcons up for a score. I know he's under terrible pressure but there was no excuse for that throw. He is CLEARLY regressing.
6) And finally, 2-1 on the way to 2-4 at the bye, on the way to another season without playoffs, on the way to Norv and AJ finally getting canned, and on the way to Mr. John Gruden being introduced as the new Chargers head coach in January of 2013.
Well what do ya know, I don't have a single thing to bitch about after today's game. Hard to complain when you're team whens by 28 no matter who the opponent is. But if I could make just one "observation", I'd say that the Chargers need to work on their running game. When the blocks are there the backs aren't getting to the hole in time. Sometime there's just no where to go. In any case it looks like we need Mathews back real bad. I know Battle did some good things but by then the Titans had given up the ghost. And things are going to get much tougher starting next week with the Falcons. That's it for now . Cheers.

@Lucab12 Ross, it's conspiracy theory time. I say that Mathews was hurt BEFORE that play, that he actually got the injury in the accident and they're trying to to cover it up. Think about it, that tackle didn't look particularly violent, and after it happened we didn't hear about it until after the game. The ESPN guys never mentioned Mathews after that, he was never shown on the sideline, and no one wondered about his absence from the game. It's such an easy out for them, to say it's a legitimate football injury, when in fact they're trying to cover up the fact that this guy is an idiot who doesn't take his job seriously. Oh well, they weren't going to be successful with him healthy anyway. They can suck just as well without him as with him.

I know this thread is about the loss of Junior, oh my aching soul, and I'm sorry to take away from that, but I can't help commenting on the Norv references by Ross and Jenn. Though I still think they're going to miss VJ, I also felt the Chargers addressed just about everything they needed to in free agency and the draft. I even allowed myself to be briefly optimistic about the upcoming season, but the realization that Norv is still the coach slammed me back into that sense of futility. I can only take comfort in the knowledge that this will be it for him.

Let your best receiver walk. Didn't even try to keep him. Fuck you. Say goodbye to your entire fan base you fucking losers. Meanwhile Spineless Spanos stands idly by watching it all fall apart, afraid of his asshole GM, while the idiot Turner remains mum. Shame on you Mr. Spanos. There's no fixing this. It's beyond repair and you created it. You get everything you deserve. If it wasn't for your daddy you'd probably be on the street.

I've been watching this team long enough to remember that Dan Fouts, great and gritty as he was, played some of his worst football come playoff time. Who can forget the day he threw 5 picks against Houston at home when the Oilers were down Dan Pastorini and Earl Campbell. I was so pissed off I tried to cut down a tree with an ax and ended up going to the hospital. That was a terrific Charger team. It had everything, and believe it or not that team had a better defense than offense, and it showed on that day. Then there was the debacle against Miami in the 1982 playoffs where he threw another 4 picks. Cincinnati - can't really hold that one against him and them. But there were other bad ones. Granted he certainly had his playoff moments - Miami in 1981, Pittsburgh in 1982. But as with recent teams they could never finish. And you're right, the current regime is hopeless. Spanos has set the franchise back another year by not doing what was called for. He will certainly face the same problem come next January. Better not blow it again Deano. God I wish that guy would sell the team.

More as to why Spanos - not AJ or Norv - is the problem with this team.
I love the part where AJ says that life in the NFL is tough. Right, but not as long as your boss is Dean Spanos. And the part where he says that two consecutive non-playoff seasons is unacceptable. Maybe to you AJ, but not to your big fat cream puff of a boss. I've said this before - hate Archie Manning all you want, but he was very wise to steer his boy Eli away from this trainwreck of a franchise.
Spanos - spineless, gutless, nutless.
P.S. IMO Darren Smith is by far the best interviewer at 1090 and probably at many other stations as well.
2 years, 6 months ago on Hope Is Dead | Articles
With this announcement the future of the Chargers has been made clear, for 2012 and beyond. Be retaining Norv and AJ, Dean Spanos has shown his blatant disregard for Charger fans everywhere. Further, he obviously is not concerned with the impact this "move" will have on season ticket sales. Why? Roughly 1/3 of season tickets belong to LA and Orange County residents anyway, so...lets connect the dots. With this announcement, Dean Spanos has basically told the City of San Diego that the Chargers are eventually heading to LA, and by keeping the Three Stooges intact (yes, Dean is one of them), he obviously is not concerned about a stadium referendum being shot down, which it now will certainly be.
@LightningJenn@Osaka17 This whole thing is fucking hopeless. That's all the words I can muster at this point, because I'm tired of repeating myself.

@Lucab12 My choice would be Gruden or Cowher, but since they've taken themselves out of the picture...Fisher would not be OK with me. What's he ever done? He's just another guy who can't quite get over the hump, and he had a lot of time with the Titans. Shit, it looks like Dean's gonna find a reason not to can Norv. That's what all the talking heads seem to be saying, that he bought himself another chance by going 4-1 down the stretch.
@boltrunner Watching what little I could of tonight's game reminded me of how far the Chargers are behind the Packers in terms of players, coaching, organization, tradition, and above all else - winning Superbowls. Seeing those fans enjoying themselves not just for what they have but also for what they've had and will continue to have, you can't help but feel envious. The other feeling I have is extreme bitterness and disgust towards the team I chose to support starting in 1968. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it starts with leadership at the top and that means ownership. The Spanos family, while they do some great things for the community of San Diego, have come up woefully short when it comes to leading this team, and before them Gene Klein, who seemed to know more about football but made way to many bad decisions when shedding star players who he deemed too expensive. I think John Spanos may as well take over for Dean right now. Can he do much worse? In any event, I can't shake the feeling that once again Dean is going to fuck this up. There are a lot of people around here that have had just about enough and these next couple of decisions Dean makes will determine if they continue to support the team or give in completely to apathy.

To Norv and AJ:
G O O D - F U C K I N G - B Y E
What a putrid, heartless, gutless, prideless "effort" that was. But of course it had to happen and it was not surprising. Scarey to think that Spanos would even consider keeping these clowns around. Big changes hopefully are coming. There should be a lot of new faces on this team next season.
@Lucab12 For one night this looked like the team we all thought it could be way back in September. The offense had all the answers and the defense actually made a couple plays to put the game away. I'm not sure how to react because as far as the big picture goes I still don't think this regime can get it done. But as you said - yeah, it was as fun as it was unexpected.
2 years, 7 months ago on Norv's Gotta Go No Matter What | Articles
@Osaka17@Lucab12 Yep, bottom line is that when it mattered the plays weren't being made, and now that it doesn't matter the are being made. The Ravens will end the playoff talk once and for all.
2 years, 7 months ago on There's Nothing Wrong With Being Wrong Unless You're Too Proud To Admit It | Articles
@Lucab12 It never ceases to amaze me how players like Barber go brain dead at the most critical times. Everybody in that stadium and watching on TV knew that all the Bears had to do to win that game was keep the clock running, so what's the guy do? Goes out of bounds on that 3rd down play to give Tebow an extra 40 seconds, which was the difference in the game. Idiot. Never mind the fumble, should have never come to that. So here I am bitching about another teams' failures against one of our rivals because, as Ross said, they've put themselves in this situation. I have to admit, it would've been pretty interesting had the Bears won. One down with 3 to go. But alas, not to be. Anyway, I think we have to stay the course and hope for Norv and AJs' dismissals, because ultimately we know they're not going to get it done.
@boltrunner Nice win and all but sorry - that was like watching a preseason game.
2 years, 7 months ago on Straight From The Heart, Why Can't This Be Done? | Articles
@boltrunner You have to understand that Canepa is one of AJ's lap dogs, so he keeps kissing his ass just in case AJ stays around, otherwise Big Bad AJ might get mad and say something mean to poor wittle Nicky. Nicky's just covering all his bases.
2 years, 7 months ago on A Muppet-Themed Ode To The 2011 Chargers | Articles
So, who do we blame today? Closest I can come is Novak. Can't say they weren't prepared, can't say there was a single play besides the missed FGs that decided it. Having said that - bye bye Norv and rightfully AJ, though I think Spanos is so enamored of the latter he'll avoid the ax, which is really too bad because he'll get the chance to pick another coach who surely will turn out to to be an idiot, and we'll be sitting hear 3 or 4 years from now saying the same thing, meanwhile Rivers, Gates, and any other decent players we have will be approaching the end of their careers, without rings of course. The point is, Spanos has to get his head out of his fucking ass and clean house at the end of the season. If he doesn't he's part of the problem. Like I said - 4-7, likely heading to 4-12. At this point I hope so because that it'll make it less likely that AJ survives the cut.
4-7 comin' up. How long before the words "lowly", "woeful", "inept", "hapless", and "dismal" appear before "Chargers" in print, just like the bad old days? My guess is another loss or two. God I can't wait for those two clowns to vacate.

Here's to hoping that AJ and Norv are shed at season's end.
As I stated earlier, an NFL team should be lead by the head coach, not the GM. Get Gruden in here. Let him pick the guy HE wants to work with as far as acquiring players. At least the article gives hope that Spanos is not in denial and is paying attention.
Oh well, at least they can't fuck up my Sunday of watching football.
I'm back. Yes, it was a gutsy performance, but in the end just another loss. When it got to be 38-24 and with the deafening chants of "Go Pack Go" ringing in my ears I had to leave. I don't care if there's still a chance for the division or not - you should all be hoping that they don't make it so we can get a real leader in this organization. boltrunner, don't forget about AJ, he's a step closer as well, or should be. A pro football team should be lead by the head coach, not the GM. Rivers - my God I can't believe how far he's regressed, along with the rest of the team (that part is no surprise). At the end of the season it'll be time for changes, and if Spanos doesn't pull the trigger then he's part of the problem, not the solution.

Well, as luck would have it, a ticket to the game fell into my lap, and free no less. So...I'm off. Pray for me.
@Lucab12 Yeah, it's hard to watch your Pro Bowl QB continually crap his pants at the most critical juncture of a game. Oh well, look at this way - the fumble saved us from having to watch the FG attempt get blocked and returned for a TD, ala Denver in '85.

@Lucab12 Ross, lets just say the language was extremely colorful.
I lost it the other night. That post was inexcusable. It has been removed. I'm very sorry.
This is more ammo as to why AJ has to go.
There is not one player on that defense that an OC has account for on every play, like a Polamalu (who AJ had a chance to draft) or a Ray Lewis type player. Never mind who the DC is, Manusky, Rivera, Cotrell, makes no difference if you don't give the guy some players to work with. He's had 8 years to put a defense together, and what does he have? Just a bunch of guys. The reign of error is nigh.
2 years, 8 months ago on Monday Morning Rants | Articles
@Lucab12 There comes a time in any organization where the same message keeps getting sent over and over, but if the message doesn't produce any positive results then eventually those in the organization tune it out, and nothing gets fixed. Morale goes down and the organization stagnates and stops progressing towards its goal, perhaps even regressing some. The Chargers have reached that point. Norv drones on and on about having to get better, but it never happens. He's been droning on and on for years about the same shit. He did the same thing in Washington and Oakland. We all know the results. People say that AJ is watching the situation and will make an appropriate decision. That's wrong. Dean Spanos should be watching AJ, and he should make the decision to part ways at the end of the season. This is all AJ's fault. His idiotic choice of a head coach. His idiotic high-round draft choices. The overall crappy roster he's assembled. All on him. Norv is there because of AJ. Norv's just doing what he does - being totally in over his head. Cowher, Gruden, whoever at this point. If such a coach were to be hired then AJ would have to go - mark it. Place just isn't big enough for AJs' ego and that of the sort of coach I just mentioned. Will such a change get them where they want to go? Maybe not, but I do know that they've gone as far as they're going to with the way things are now, and in order to at some point go forward again they have to end the current arrangement.

@Lucab12@LightningJenn Even when it was 21-10 I was positive they were going to lose. Isn't that sad? Rivers looks awfully tentative. They way it happened didn't surprise me a bit because that is an encapsulation of what Charger football has become.
2 years, 9 months ago on Week 6 Ramblings And Rants | Articles
Echoing the previous, Norv won't be fired during the season, but he's got 10 games left. Mark it. I can't stand the site of him. 4-2 - who gives a FUCK! He's taken this team as as he can and it peaked in 2007 when by some miracle he got that team to the AFCCG. Since then they've regressed. Why the trigger wasn't pulled after last season - ask AJ. He hired Norv and he's going down with him. Antoine Cason - another major bust. And did anyone even see English on the field today? Castillo, Davis, the others I just mentioned. It's your players AJ, it's your coach. And lets talk about the next 4 games - does anyone see a win in there? What, KC? Did anyone see what they did to the Raiders today? In Arrowhead, on Monday night, and on Halloween no less. Put a big fat L next to that one. More of what you saw today. Green Bay - loss, Oakland - loss, at Chicago - loss. That'll make 4-6. After that who gives a shit? It's not going to get any better, because Norv is the coach. AJ, you fucking idiot. Meanwhile Dean Spanos stands idly by, seeming not to care. Guess he's saving his next big hire for LA.
@Lucab12 I'm afraid you're right, but at least we here in SD won't have to see it.

Ms. Caswell appears to have quite a rack. The game, shit, who the fuck knows?
@boltrunner Yes, if there is such a thing this was it. How do you hold a team to 0 first downs in the first half and allow that team to remain in the game? Rivers - I'm shocked, I don't know what his problem is. Weddle, of all people, saved the day but of course that was a very bad throw by Cassle. And then there was the sequence just before the INT where Chargers could have let another 20 seconds run off the clock before running the 4th down play. If a fan like me, sitting on his couch and having consumed a considerable amount of malt beverage can see that, why can't the coach? Oh that's right, because the coach is a complete dumbass. At worst they could have let the play clock run down, let Scifres drop one inside the 10 and take their chances. Yes I know, they were trying to ice the game and all that.
Having seen what I could of the Raiders -Jets, Oak is clearly the best team in the division right now, way way more physical than the Chargers. I can easily see Miami, who plays their best on the road, coming in here and laying a big fat L on the Chargers. I can easily see Orton and the Broncos doing the ambush job in Denver.

For all those fans out there who are taking the next 3 for granted, think again. This is exactly the same scenario as last season when they were ambushed by the Seahawks and Rams. Improvement? Where? Look every bit as snake-bit as ever. Mark my words, they will lose at least one of the next 3. And then...oh, it'll be beautiful when the cry for Norv's head gets so loud that Deano can't ignore it anymore. And I have just the guy to replace him - John Gruden. He wears his proof as a validated HC on one of his fingers. But of course that means that AJ will have to go to, because he couldn't possibly be expected to coexist with someone of Grudens' stature. I think we can all live with that.
