I have been considering it too.  I haven't been on it in quite some time.  Also, the "french cuffs" were the worst (or at least one of the worst) fashion trends ever!

I would also add admitting that they are always learning. This is an ever-changing medium and I get concerned that there are some that feel they have it mastered. Mastered today doesn't necessarily mean mastered next week. Algorithms get changed. A new platform is released. Platforms are upgraded/changed in some way. In the loop not only in sharing information with clients, but in discussing the platforms with other "experts" is key.

I use an Android phone because I can get replacement batteries. I have a wall charger to charge the batteries separate and never leave home without my 6 spares. Of course, I have the car charger too. There are times I want to switch to an iPhone, but I need to have the ability to change batteries.

Beautifully written from the heart as always! I have a nephew going through this right now. Many attempts have been made and he has received a lot of professional help, but it is a constant struggle for him. Depression is a deep hole to climb out of and hopefully this tragedy will open some eyes to the importance of the cause!

I am going to go out on a limb and say there is no way that the average Joe would have received that type of service. With that said it is still good customer service. I have seen Peter tweet/Facebook many times about Morton's. However, the PR in this case exceeds the customer service. They did it because he tweets it AND because he has a huge following. Period. I love that you will always call it like you see it Danny!

Thank you for sharing this reminder! Social media in general is a great medium for business and personal use, but I think too many people get complacent with their safety on it by thinking everyone has the same honest intentions that they do. As a stalking victim advocate (@jodisvocie) I teach people to use social media safely. Basically it is follow the rules we give our teens on social media! Somehow we forget to do it ourselves.

@danielnewmanUV Too many people forget (on social media and in real life) that the promotion comes from the connections! The old sales training comes to mind...they "buy you" not your product.

It amazes me that so many companies are doing this yet not a one of them would ever dream of putting an intern in the position to be the company spokesperson for traditional media! It's crazy!

@kamkansas Yes, Jodi's killer had stalked many other women. I am not even certain we ever knew exactly how many. That is what encouraged me to start the law change...her murder never should had happened! Had Jodi's Law been in effect in 2006 she would still be here. Her killer would have been arrested for stalking before that day in January.

@TheJackB I have heard multiple stories of that being the solution in the eyes of responding law enforcement. Their hands are tied and they get frustrated too, but it is still no excuse. Officers told me to make sure I emptied my gun before calling them. I relocated to another state before it got to that point. Kind of strange though to have an police officer make that statement.

Great title and photo!

Over the last few months I have dealt with many publicist (many from the top companies). I have ranted on some and raved on others. I think the defining factor for a good/bad PR rep is like anything else. If they remember what they are doing is not about them rather about their client they are usually grounded and good. That being said. Over the last few months I have dealt with large egos, non-responsive to follow-up after they have initiated contacts and worse. Bottom line, who you represent (company or individual) does not make you a great rep it simply gives you the opportunity to be a great rep. Your responses (or lack there of) to anyone reaching out to you represent yourself, your company and the company/individual you represent. Golden Rule: Treat them as you would want to be treated! It stands true to anything.
