Not sure how I feel about this. I also feel the concern that it will reduce the quality of content on Quora. I don't use the platform that often, but whenever I do, I'm always impressed with the caliber.
@jennalanger @nickcicero As a major Ke$ha fan, I would have been satisfied with just 3. Sounds like you guys had a blast!
This is amazing. And a really great post, too.
Just noticed Jenna has a beer. My caption could have been more detailed.
Jenna: You said this was just orange juice!
Hannah; DRINK THE ORANGE JUICE IN THE KITCHEN BEFORE I THROW IT AWAY!!!!!!!
@meghan_krane @jenna_langer @labellehannah
@jennalanger Well if the world ends in December, you won't get to SXSW :P
Anyway, good luck, Livefyre!
@AustenjAllred You're right - what happens next (and after that) with Facebook will have a huge impact on the industry as a whole. It's time companies take these large number of users and actually do something with them, and Facebook ads are not enough.
Twitter being down was a big issue for me, too, but luckily I was still able to comment on Livefyre, as you pointed out. This summer has been rough on Twitter - I hope whatever has been causing these outages gets fixed because my mental state can't handle it.
I by no means know too much about the professional modeling world, but I've worked with a few models through various jobs and I watch enough America's Next Top Model to know that this is very insightful. I have a few friends who are aspiring models, and they could use a lesson or two on being a little more professional.
By the way, welcome to Livefyre! Please feel free to let us know if you ever have any questions or feedback.
Good post, David. Sometimes Community Managers can be all too hungry to have anyone in their community, and they forget that quality trumps quantity. We can be picky in our communities, and you provide good tips on doing that.
Definitely good tips - once I finish grad school and move into a more routine of work, I plan on volunteering so that I can keep meeting new people, all the while helping my community.
I think number 1 is extremely important. Many people (and even many SM managers) are too quick to jump into the latest tool. Learning HOW to use them is important so that when a need comes up where that tool will help, you have an advantage - but being there just to be there is pointless.
@JMattHicks @ColleenMc @Jeremy Hicks I seriously want to try this now.
Really, the only use I've found for Google+ is hangouts. I have the network a solid try for a couple months, but I didn't have a compelling enough, distinct reason to use it. I did like the hangouts function, but that's about it.
@tonia_ries My thoughts too - I'd guess a majority of them just have their standard commercials tacked on there.
I just can't see enough of my friends using something like this to make it worthwhile. Definitely something I would use, but barely any of my friends use location-based services, so getting them to sign up for something like this would be a difficult task.
Ouch. I was a little relieved to see that I've never been on any of these rides, but those definitely sound like terrible accidents. I kind of like being stuck on a ride, but being stuck upside down for three hours would not be fun.
Some really good tips here, Kathryn. I've always thought about starting my own company a few years down the line, and at the moment I'm working for a startup - so I think this experience will pay off. Really good advice about scheduling doctors appointments while you still have decent coverage. Not something incredibly obvious, but very helpful and practical.
I'm actually surprised that many have made it on to YouTube.
Margie, I am a fan of your blog, but I completely understand the mentality here. There are some social media "experts" I know of who I see participate in at least 3 Twitter chats a day, always seem to be at the parties & events, and you have to wonder if they actually do any work for their clients. I'll miss your posts here, but I'll follow you on your company blog. Best of luck in the transition!
