Beautifully said Ric! May I add that thought leadership isn't only about sharing information, but inspiring change and motivating others, which is the "leadership" part of the equation that many marketers miss. Those who share information for the sole purpose of getting something back, aren't practicing leadership!

So gald you are addressing this because I have been seeing this on a daily basis by one particular person. Also, because I was going to write about it and hesitated, but your post gives me motivation to write and address the problem. Hopefully the person who I see copying will read the post!
Great article Ray! Recognizing threats really stands out for me, cause that could break a business if they are not predicted and prepared for. The world is so competitive that you almost have to think two to three years ahead and start planning, and that takes time, and vision, not easy to do.

Great article, and I am glad you are advocating the important role education must play in 21st century marketing.
My company is not a big brand, but education is the main venue through which I have promoted my business. What I am doing recently is weekly educational workshops delivered live via Google Plus On Air, and each week I cover a different topic. As you suggested in your blog post, I aim for ever-green content. Also, my main motivation for having an education-centered strategy is to help my potential and future clients understand my industry and what it takes to deliver value to them.

Oh Man, I love this post Ray, and I love you for who you are! I totally agree with you. Personally, I will not compromise my principles just to make a sale. Maybe that is the reason I am not swimming in money as a business owner, but that's my way and I am sticking to it.
