My deepest condoleances Lori, I can't even come close to understanding the pain you feel right now.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, and your family. Rest in peace Alex.

@Ileane  Good point, I personally like the word tribe because I lived among real life ones for many years. Of course we can play semantics all day but your point about a tribe vs. community is a good one.

I think tribes split often also, because of geography, age, income or other factors. Each one of these sub-tribes usually has a leader.

I think tribe is mostly a mindset, there can be tribal communities and non tribal ones.

For me a tribe is really a community on steroids, it takes the idea of solidarity between members to another level.

Thanks for the kind words :)

@AdrienneKnight Because we are :) What happens is that most of us don't bother finding out what our gift is and believe the crap they are told about being bad at this and that.

Yes, finding out what our true gift isn't easy, and making a living out of that gift is even tougher but that's being an entrepreneur is all about.

One of my business mentors owned and operated more than 50 outlets of a famous QSR franchise.

He was very wise when it came to marketing.

Some of the things he did wouldn't be what we would traditionally call "marketing'. He looked at the outlet and found ways to attract, awe and keep customers. These were the days before  online but you are so right when you say little re-designs have a big impact.

I have always been impressed by people who do franchises well, it's not easy and it's not as cookie cutter as we think.

Write down 5 top items "Must Dos' for the day.

Make sure the fit with the weekly goal.

Stop trying to put too much stuff into a daily To-do List.

Better to do 5 then trying and failing at 20 items.

Great question Justin,

Since I moved from a brick and mortar business, operating in a very traditional environment, to a more online operation I keep getting this question.

I have looked at it several times and so far I believe both are needed. Nothing will ever really replace face to face, and by this I don't just mean boardroom meetings but everything from having a coffee to signing a deal. It's a lost easier to setup a relationship, and a lot faster to communicate our true value.

However, once the relationship is established, or the project agreed upon, online beats boardroom every-time. When it comes to management and execution online is king.

But, and this is a big but, we are tribal people and love to hang around with others, and by this I mean physically hang around, not sit alone in an office and be surrounded by pics on a screen.

So when relationships are key to a specific decision, or process, then face to face meetings crush online.

Wow! Seriously baffled by the complete stupidity of that business owner.

No copyright on the internet I guess. Wonder how he would feel if people came to his stores, picked stuff up and walked away with it.

I applaud you for finishing your speech @ginidietrich I would have a blast with such an idiot.

Hey Srini,

My favorite topics, education and parenting :)

As a father I can say Indian parents aren't the only ones who value safety, security and survival, we all do.

I just bought my daughter her first bicycle and when she falls off it, I blame myself for getting her that toy.

I think you are right we do a good job at looking down on certain subjects (I was always told I wouldn't go far in life because I suck at math).

What I think is more important is to really discover what your unique strengths are and capitalize on those.

For some it's math and science, for others it's drawing or singing. It doesn't mean that someone who is a doctor or a lawyer can't be self actualized if he/she is really doing what they are the best at.

Schools suck at teaching us how to do this, because they weren't created for that.

I take every Saturday off from this online madness.

You are right Justin we have too many ways for people to get in touch with us, yet we forget to be living, now with the people who matter.

I live in a country where the legal work week is 35hrs, people take a month off in the summer, entire businesses shut down for 30 days, last I checked France's economy wasn't crashing and people aren't starving here.

So what gives?

My metric is simple, how many emails do I get back from my list after each email blast.

Out of these emails, how many are qualified leads vs. peers or friends saying 'hi'.

Simple but it goes directly to the ROI of my email blast.
