Thank you so much for this article.  Sometimes I forget why I started blogging in the first place and where I am supposed to be going with it.  I can get caught up in the details and forget to have fun, get away front he computer sometime and, most of all, have a life worth writing about!  So true!  As I was thinking about my day this morning, I thought - I'm just going to follow my bliss and do all things fun today.  Then the first article I read when I got on my computer was yours and it was just confirmation of many things I've been ruminating about.  Thank you!

I think that if we start "saving" our kids from dorm experiences we are doing them a disservice.  It is a huge part of growing and learning.  What we need to do instead is teach our kids how to treat people respectfully and kindly (which they learn from watching their parents).  I imagine that Ravi learned some of his discriminating views at home.  I would also add that social media isn't as much of a culprit as MEDIA in general, through which we learn that there is no privacy.  Look at the tabloids and reality TV.  We are taught at every turn that we do not have a right to privacy.

I love your honesty. We all have our "failures." Yours obviously keeps pushing you to finally come up with something you loved! And it worked. Keep it up! xo Lina

People who have a hard time forgiving others also have a hard time forgiving ourselves. We are always hardest on ourselves. Do you think this is true for you?

A little body doesn't mean a little brain :) You are smart, quit witted and have a big personality. Thanks for always making me think! xo L

"most people take the risk of playing it safe"

So well said. If I could give one piece of advice for my kids it is this. Don't make decisions based on fear of the future. People are rewarded for being authentic and following their hearts. I want them to follow their wildest dreams!

I really love bloglovin.com to get my blog articles. You can easily see which ones you have missed, read those, or delete the whole mess :) I also and "favorite" them which makes a good place to store quality blog posts. And, when you are seeing the blog post, it looks exactly like the website - not just words like an RSS feed. Anyhoo, that is how I solved my subscription dilemma!

margieclaymanDalaiLina Yes, I agree. I don't want to shove business down the throats of friends that just want to know about my kids, so I thought having a separate page would be appropriate. Thanks!

Phew, that is a lot to take in. I've been thinking I need to start a page for my blog, "Dalai Lina" to promote it and post things specific to my message. I also think I may be missing people since my personal Facebook page is my name, Lina Dickinson. But, Dalai Lina is ME (not a business), so, according to your argument I SHOULDN'T have a Dalai Lina page, right? Curious to hear you opinion...

That is nice, Margie. I wish everyone used Social Media like that! (then I may get a little less porn-type direct tweets. What's up with that? Although maybe they are sending love in a different way...)

I like were you are going with this, but I can't stop thinking about Time Bandits. One of my favorite movies of all time...

I don't think there is a blogger out there that hasn't thought this same thing. It can be frustrating to try to had to deliver good content and have to wait so long for your numbers to rise. Some people take off so quickly and I can't figure out the formula. But, like you said, I wouldn't want to change myself just to get numbers anyway. I'm trying to do all the "right" things but fit them into my life and my comfort level. Especially when I blog about health and spiritual balance: I've got to live what I write! Which often means going at a slow, steady pace. Thanks for this article!
