Hewitt in 4, Dimitrov in 4, Verdasco in 5
I think they should play until the heat index reaches over 110. They have ice, they have drinks, they have towels right there. This isn't a marathon!
Yeah Nishikori looked like he was playing the best I have ever seen him play when he was playing Dolgopolov.
How about the Djokovic/Federer semifinal at Aussie 2011? Called a three set beat down but only 8 point difference over three sets.
How many people on here couldn't stand to watch the whole Aussie final because of the time. How many people had to miss some of it because they got hungry, bored, thirsty, or had to go poop. Six hours is just too long to watch. How many people watched the full Isner Mahut 11 hour match? It just gets to be too much.
@Misato3 Nadal wasn't rolling on the ground to eat up time. That was a very crucial time in the match in the final set.
Black so you sweat a lot? Blacks should be more tolerant of the heat especially when there is no sun at all. He is also very skinny and should cool quickly. You sweat a lot because you arne't in shape dude. :P
In the final set against Nadal Djokovic stalled by lying on the ground like he was injured and I counted the time in between points and it was 40 seconds or more. Any other sport it would be considered unsportsmanship like conduct and draw a penalty. Nadal would have won the final at the Aussie if there was a set time limit. Nadal was in better shape and should have won. It's not right!!!!!!!!!!!
@Carol35 The time between points in the Aussie Final was up to 40 seconds or more at times. The match could have been completed in an hour less.
They should have hot babes do the officiating so nobody will get mad when they enforce the time rule.
@RafaIsTheKing You really watched all 6 hours of the Aussie Open final?
Djokovic took a full 40 seconds between points when he was in trouble against Nadal in the Aussie final. He dropped on the ground even though he had no injury. There should have been an automatic point penalty. People may say they want to watch a 6 hour sporting event but they don't mean tennis and even tennis fans don't want to watch a 6 hour tennis match.
I can't believe Roger Federer is not considered by anyone in the know to be player of the year. He got number one ranking back to break Pete's record, won a slam, got his first olympic singles medal, tied Nadal for most Masters titles, kept his consecutive quarterfinals streak going at the Majors. I think he might have surpassed someone else on the most titles list.
Djovokic would have lost the match if they kept to the time constraints. How many sports allow you to take as long as you want? How many of those so called sports fans that weren't tennis fans actually watched the whole match? x tina x I don't think any of them that said they would enjoy a sporting even that lasted close to 6 hours were thinking about tennis. If it was a football game yes, anything else no.
Someone typed 1985 in the previous listing of this match.
I think number 400 something beating a guy that a year and half ago was ranked 8 and is currently 38 is an unbelievable upset. The guy hasn't even won an atp match in his life, had to qualify (which is probably his most consecutive wins on the year) and has only played maybe a dozen matches this year on challenger, etc tours.
I honestly would like him to take a year off of competing.
Del Potro had serious wrist problems a few years ago and with his results and skipping the Paris Masters near the end of one year I had suspicions that it wasn't healed yet. I think he has had a few other injuries. For him to be healthy I think he needs 6 months off and needs to weight lift, etc, before he comes back. If he doesn't rest this long he will continue to struggle against the best in the world.
It does seem that Nadal goes away because he can't stand losing and maybe he has lost concentration and focus. He does seem to come back at times remarkably well. Tennis is funny though because it is possible to still win when you aren't feeling that good, it's not like a race where one has to be totally healthy.
Should Andy Murray really be here?
