There are also concerning reports from Norwhich sites saying that Leeds have agreed the sale of Snodgrass but im not sure these are genuine. If we lose Snodgrass it will be a massive blow because this is a talented and committed young player capable of taking us forwards. I give short shrift to the fans among us who seem to beleive similar quality replacements grow on trees............... Its not even about the quality so much as the boxes that Snodgrass ticks
Your end point is interesting......Clubs needs to start treating there fans like FANS and customers rather than a pay cheque or they could all walk away...........how many times have you heard fans saying they would prefer to watch their team in the lower leagues because it all seems more honest and wholesome ???
P.S it wont implode while there are billionaires and tv companies pumping money into the game........Again because of the amount of money on offer the clubs are under preassure to get immediate success rather than wait and blood youngsters
English players want money too but i think they respect the heritage of clubs just a bit more than the current crop of foreigners have......
Look at Manchester United.....in reality there recent success was built on the back of a youth team that gave Fergie the back bone of a team that dominated for a decade. You know the guy is desperate to find another Keane or a Beckham or a Scholes but they just arnt there so hes having to find foreigners that wont have the loyalty, commitment or understanding that the later gave him.....
DJE
As you have hinted, at the least Leeds United just needs owners who will invest the majority of its own spare income in its team and youth system rather than simply filtering it off......
For me it doesnt have to be billionaires and if im honest id prefer not to copy the Man City model ; spending hundreds of millions quickly assembling a bunch of over paid premadonnas & mercenaries who have no loyalty to leeds united and who will walk at the first sign of a better wage......... Thats ignoring what it does to our clubs youth development....
I look at whats happening at Arsenal now as a great example of what you get in the modern game now...... For me a great club with a heritage and recently run by a great manager with vision. A manager who has helped to transform the way football is played in the premiership for the better. And yet all the players he now signs are quick to leave as soon as the oportunity to earn a bit more money arises,,,,,,, Again its partly down to there being too many foreigners in the English game, they dont have a tenth of the loyalty that british players do........
Id rather Leeds united build brick by brick, develop its youth system with one of the biggest, most talented catchment areas in England........
Its possible, i suggested the same thing but i doubt Ken could con everyone and the sheihk in question would have distanced himself by now if it was complete rubbish
I think if hes staying on Warnock will have hinted that he wants him to play in midfeild.....
I think Bates has made the bed. The new owners will inherit fans close to breaking point..........yes there are still those laid back types and a few others that are so ignorant they beleive Bates has done a good job but most will not stand around waiting for years again.
PS any new owners will not get 7 years of patience from the fans like Ken got,..... they got a year, maybe 2
Mate the way i view it ......so far this summer we have only sold players who warnock felt he could immediately replace with better players.
Clayton just didnt float his boat, maybe they had a bust up. I dont know.
If White, Snodgrass and Mccormick go then thats when we need to start questioning.
Personally reading between the lines I get the impression Warnock would prefer to keep all three in the perfect world and provided he gets financial backing from the new owners INTIME to buy transfer targets.......Its a juggling act for Neil, hes got targets that are saying come and get me but he has no money.... does he try and wait ? or does he sell one of his few assets and gamble that he can get a decent replacement ? I sympathize with him.
Again I think any owners will be very aware of the politics surrounding a club they are willing to spend a fortune on in order to buy it. They will know there is a rebellion brewing amongst the Leeds fans that can only be halted with positive action not a like for like replacement for a useless regime.
DJE dont agree mate , if the group taking over were skint as a result of the take over........why are they taking over in the first place ??
They wont be idiots, they know the Leeds fans will want some improvement from any take over of leeds united so theres no point coming here if they cant help the club get back to the premiership
Tim, really good article........but now im a tad wound up and frustrated !!! Anyone got Kens address ? I might go over there, strap him to a chair and electrocute him with nipple clamps until he whispers the truth in my ear...............
As i leave ill notice the long que of other leeds fans waiting their turn with Captain Birdseye (carrying asorted and various types of equipment usually associated with torture.....)
And dont worry ill post on here as soon as i get the truth out of him with another "well my source says....."
Dacourt was the best midfeilder we had since Batty.......Just didnt get on with Terrible Venables
any truth in all these rumours suggesting Warnock has resigned, snodgrass is sold and the take over has fallen through ??
Or just more idle gassing ?
Please remember that when we speculate about selling players and the quality of our current squad we are making assumptions.......until Austin, Pearce, Drury et all actually play for us we cant assume anything let alone promotion.........SNODGRASS however is proven quality for Leeds united so this casual talk of selling him and replacing him and Mcormick is a bit nieve........as was the talk of Gradel being replaced by Nunez, Howson being over-rated etc etc etc..............
Its not obvious to me........ The newspapers are saying stuff yes and its possible Warnock could use the Mcormick money but ive seen no evidence to suggest Warnock wants to sell Snodgrass at all............. selling both would be idiocy and replacements of the quality that would get us promoted are likely to be expensive and RISKY. Snodgrass is proven quality and hes young and loyal to a degree. Selling him full stop smacks of no ambition and would damage our promotion push
At this moment in time with Adolf Hitlers only living offspring still in power at Leeds United - Kenneth Stallin Bates.....im just happy that a Leeds fan is trying to buy the club.......ill sort out the rights and wrongs and save getting on my high horse over the Bahrainy's for another time..............
me too, feel like im gate crashing a party full of fans wearing rose tinted spectacles......... Marching on together but blindly.......
I dont agree Tim with your general concept.... Like i keep saying if warnock carries on signing half decent players you wont be able avoid a feel good factor and fans buying tickets regardless of ken bates still owning the club.......nothing will happen and ken will be fine unless the wheels come off again. We will carry on and then a couple of years time it will all hit a creshendo again with the Sheep element of Leeds support finally getting angree again. Meanwhile the rest of us will have to put up with watching our clubs cash syphoned off to various undisclosed parties for the next few years
but thats my worry if theres no take over......Warnock pulls a stormer in the transfer market despite having Bates as a chairman, we get promoted with Bates and he continues holding us back.......look for me and a lot of fans its got to a stage that regardless of how well Bates performs now I cant tolerate him running my club......... too much has happened, theres no trust and he damages morale, ambition, vision and momentum just by being there......
