Stephone is a good Prospeck...I like him too, Teej...Good size and affleticism...He's a load coming on the blitz, which I'm sure Billy loves...We might pick him up...

@Dutch* @Blasphemizer @southphillyben Dutchie, I don't know who you're referring to that would've had All-Star potential, but let's see where some of these former Sixers are now:

Jrue Holiday is starting in New Orleans but hasn't been back to the All-Star Game since he was in Philly and his stats simply haven't been as good since either.

Evan Turner was a marginal bench player for the Pacers and now is a marginal bench player for the Celtics.

Hawes got good minutes for Cleveland last year. He's now a bench player for the Clippers.

Thad Young has been starting for the Timberwolves but just got traded in a sentimental swap for an ancient Kevin Garnett.

None of these guys are or would've been perennial All-Stars. The Sixers system inflated their counting stats and made them look better than they really were.

The team was 34-48 the season before Hinkie came in and went 15-40 the first half of the next season before he traded a lot of them. Does that scream, "TEAM FULL OF BURGEONING ALL-STARS DON'T TOUCH!!!" to you?

@southphillyben I understand your disappointment. But, I do disagree with your feelings about the ownership. I'm not here to sell you on the Sixers definitely being good soon. All I can say is wait and see how things turn out because they're usually making some pretty smart moves.

@Dutch* @Blasphemizer @southphillyben Some good ones, but not a lot of All-Stars, no. Jrue made an All-Star game. That was it. MCW and Thad were good players, but neither has been an All-Star.

If we really had a team full of All-Stars, don't you think that we would've been competing?

@southphillyben Souffy, in the NFL we're used to the idea of a mediocre or decent team becoming a top contender. In the NBA, this simply doesn't happen as much. You have to plan longer term and do some things that your fan base may find unsavory (like being terrible and trading decent players) to maximize your chances at landing a superstar, which is the only thing that will really enable you to compete for championships.

Hinkie is not an idiot...Genius is a term that I would hesitate to ever apply to a professional sports GM so let's just say that he is a very smart man...I love MCW, but there are some major holes in his game...His jumpshot is simply broken...His 3 point percentage is atrocious and it is highly unlikely he will ever be even an average shooter...That seriously fucks up spacing...He also turns the ball over way too much and is not good on the pick-and-roll...The result of that is that our half-court offense was historically bad with him running the point...Don't get me wrong, he is a good player, but he regressed from last year to this year...The Lakers pick is GREAT value for him...

Dunno if I'd go after Rahim Moore. He's good in coverage, but he's not the kind of guy you want to put in the box. While Jenkins could do fine primarily handling those responsibilities, I think the Eagles would like to put either safety there if need be.

@donpardo @Blasphemizer We don't know if Cole will take a pay cut...My intent isn't to offend his ability either...I simply believe that Graham is a better player at this point in his career (and he's obviously younger), so unless Cole is willing to take a discount that makes him significantly more affordable than Graham in the short term, I believe that seeking to re-sign Graham and cut Cole would be the preferable strategy...And I wouldn't ask Smiff II to be the answer, I just think that we should give him more playing time...He'd be second string/rotational...Graham would start...

@southphillyben Eagle's Eye should be a welcoming environment to any Eagles fan. I know that we're all very familiar around here, but that doesn't change the fact that we should seek to be respectful and inclusive. I have avoided the subject because it leads some others to be less than respectful and not so inclusive.

As a wise Eagles fan once said, "Stay on Football."

@donpardo @Blasphemizer Sorry Pardo. Only chance is if he takes a HEFTY paycut. Couldn't justify keeping the guy around at an $11.625 million cap hit. Not enuff production. Plus, Marcus just needs some snaps. We need to see what we have there.

Graham was incredibly efficient last year. We'd be silly to let him walk. Cut Cole and resign Brandon to a contract in the neighborhood of Barwin's deal. He gets to start next year. Marcus Smiff II will get more snaps to show his worth. It seems straightforward enuff to me.

Hindsight is 20/20, folks. Given the circumstances, was the last play called by the Seahawks optimal? No, far from it. Lynch was running well, they probably should've been trying to cut more clock, and their chances of turning it over were probably lower on the ground.

BUT, let's not act as if a short inside slant is an unheard of play call with that down and distance. AND, let's not absolve Wilson of responsibility. He forced that throw instead of extending the play with his feet and/or tossing it out the back. He lost a gamble he shouldn't have taken. ALSO, as Bri has pointed out, let's not discount the quick read and response of Butler. Tremendous play on the ball by him.

I'd like to remind the bored that even though the tOSU v OU result may have raised some concerns about the long-term viability of Chip's strategic leanings, it was far from a battle of two diametrically opposed football philosophies...Chip Kelly and Urban Meyer have had considerable influence on one another...In fax, Urban was one of the very firss coaches Chip studied while coaching at New Hampshire and Meyer has recently come to Kelly to study his ways:

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/20150112_Meyer_has_brought_some_of_Chip_Kelly_s_ideas_to_Ohio_State.html

Really, the two have somewhat of a football bromance...

So, take it easy folks...Helfrich, the direct protege of CK, may not have fulfilled his predecessor's legacy and validated our views on his ways...But he made it all the way to the National Championship only to be beaten by the head coach who was perhaps next most influenced by Kelly...I'm not sure how this can be construed so negatively...

@dutchrubb Oregon isn't soft...That's a stale narrative which is replayed every time a team finds success by relying on strategies that ostensibly require speed and/or finesse...This leads the talking heads to hypothesize that they must be using such strategies because they lack the attribute of overwhelming strength and/or toughness which would enable them to employ others which are assumed (perhaps very wrongly) to be naturally superior...Oregon got dommed at the LOS this game, yes, but one example does not a pattern make...
