@bigredballer Fox needs to land a Dominique Wilkins or Terry Fair type of player. Folks often forget that with roundball one stud can turn a program around.

@TampaDawg @bigredballer Because we were "defense optional" in 2013. Hopefully there will be some noticeable improvement defensively this season.

@Reddawg13 @CharlestowneDawg It's been said that God works in mysterious ways. Sometimes he whispers, other times, if the whispers are ignored, God will shout. Could be what was needed to make JHC face himself in the mirror and rededicate his life toward becoming the person and player he is capable of being. I hope JHC gets it together and goes on to have a great career. Enroll at Valdosta State, have a good year, and be ready come Spring 2015 for the NFL.

@Swan guard Woody McCorvey is the coach West was talking about.

@Swan guard Man I wouldn't believe anything anyone connected with Clemson circa 1985 said. Along with Jackie Sherrill at Texas A$M, Clemson was probably the dirtier than the Okefenokee Kid on Saturday night.
@Swan guard I've seen 5 star players who couldn't play dead in a Western. Max Emmfinger and Tom Lemming both predicted Emmitt Smith would be a bust. Seems as though if a certain group of schools offer a player, his stock automatically shoots up. Used to be if Notre Dame or southern Cal was interested in a guy he was labeled can't miss. And I'm referring to the Gerry Faust era Notre Dame, and Ted Tollner SC.
@Swan guard did he mention the part about him and the Oklahoma coach almost getting in a fist fight in Worleys front yard? the way I heard it at the time, that incident was what swung Tim Worley to us. He called Goff, who was our head recruiter at the time and supposedly told him, I'm coming to Georgia, these people, meaning Clemson and Oklahoma, are crazy fools.
@willypmd @Jesse1 @PTCDawg None taken, yet the question is still, why not us? 68 teams make the NCAA tourney every year. Why shouldn't we be a regular entry? Sweet 16 every 4 years? Not unreasonable at all. Where was Duke in the ACC pecking order before Coach K? About 5th( UNC, NC State, Maryland, and UVA were all better programs at the time) out of 8 teams. Florida before Donovan? Michigan State before whats his name. Other thanKentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA, Indiana, there have been many programs which are consistently good enough to make it to the dance. Some come, others go, some come back. it's about time we have a few basketball seasons in the sun. And I believe it is not an unattainable task.
@WalktheDawg Whisky @Jesse1 @Swan guard Back in the early 70's a guy named Joe Terranova started this whole thing.Putting out monthly updates on HS football prospects. Then came Barry Sollenberger from National Sports News Service and Nelson Tennis from CalHigh-Sports.All from 72'-74' with monthly or quarterly info.. Street & Smith and Athlon had Doc Holland from the mid 70's, and later Forrest Davis. Tom Wallace and SuperPrep was another early player, as was Chris Fowler around 80' or 81' with Scholastic Sports on USA network. The communication between followers is at an all time high, but even 40 years ago at BullDawg Club meetings folks would be asking about recruiting, and were we "in it" for whoever.
@Bulldawg36 They play as freshmen ( lot of blowouts) but not so much in the big games. 2012 Bama started 4 seniors. 2013,1 senior, 2 juniors, and 2 soph's. One who is a redshirt soph. Having more players (oversigning) allows more "big man against big man" practices. Due to a variety of reasons, all have been rehashed here time and again, UGA hasn't had that luxury.
@Bulldawg36 Of all positions, the adjustment from high school to college is harder for offensive linemen than any other. For starters, a guy is no longer beating the stew out of a guy 5 inches shorter and 80 pounds lighter on a weekly basis. Even the very few who come into the SEC and play early as true freshmen, usually get their clock cleaned the first year when they line up across a 4th or 5th year defensive lineman who simply is more football savvy, and physically stronger, not necessarily more gifted.
@Bulldawg36 Second that last sentence. I want UGA to win in everything. Even tiddly winks and pitching pennies.
@Swan guard Plus Oregon and Okie Lite and Baylor are becoming BCS (past tense) regulars without owning the recruiting trail.
@Swan guard Folks used to say Mack Brown was the #1 Feb. coach in the business.
And as an aside Nebraska during the 70's and 80's rarely reeled in a Top 10 class. Miami during the Schellenberger, and Jimmy Johnson span hardly raised a blip on the recruiting radar.
@Red Dawn @Jesse1 @PTCDawg Not sure, but neither had Florida until Billy Donovan took over. And we may have pulled that trick once under Durham during the Terry Fair and Dominique Wilkins years. But why not us? With nearly 70 teams in these days, a school with our resources should be able to make it in 3 of 4.
@PTCDawg My expectations for UGA roundball are not unreasonable. Should pay for itself, make the NCAA Tourney 3 out of 4 years, Sweet 16 every 4 years, and once or twice a decade, make the Final 4 with a shot at winning it. Just ink one Top 20 player every year, and it's clover.
@DawgyStyle @bigredballer Hoover is loaded this year. Best group since Niblet took over from Propst.
@Bulldawg36 Kolton was still about 25=30 lbs. underweight last year. Don't be surprised if he has filled back out by the fall. Getting back in the weightroom and bellying up to the training table for high protein vittles are a sure fire way to add back on the muscle he lost trying to get his levels to an NCAA acceptable number.
@bigredballer James Carpenter, Warmack, and most of the Bama offensive linemen taken the past few years were 3 stars, Juco, or zero stars. But folks don't want to hear that. Or the 2 star from Northern Michigan who was the first player taken, or the Oklahoma kid, taken I believe the 4th or 5th overall pick, who arrived in Norman as a 3 star QB , then moved to tight end, and finally settled at left tackle. I can go back over 35 years with lists of highly rated linemen coming out of high school who didn't amount to squat in college.Anyone recall the "Big Three" from Parkview awhile back? MiKinney, Pilgram, and another guy whose name escapes me. Valdosta's 1986 offensive line with Jodie Sprenkle, Ben Lane, Marty Howell, and Zabria Bell? All 4 made someone's All American list. What did they do in college? Nothing!
@WalktheDawg Whisky @Fatrascaldawg At least we won't waste a bunch of time, money, and effort on a guy who most likely has zero interest in playing for UGA. Focus will and should always be on guys who are seriously interested in our program. Not on players who can't decide if they want ketchup or mayo on their hamburger. Or are for sale to the highest bidder.
