Here it is folks. The problems we have long known about associated with high school basketball are not off in the future. They have arrived. It will only get worse. Certain rogue boosters will pay and coddle these AAU summer coaches to funnel the talent to their school. We may regret the passing of the "Bagman."

@bigredballer  Kamara could be the home run threat after getting the ball in space. Even the sideline pass where he's one on one will have folks holding their breath.Teamed up with Isiah Meckenzie, whoever the quarterback is in 2015 will have an embarrassment of riches to play pitch and catch with.

@bigredballer  In two games against teams with excellent vertical games (Orlando-Edgewater and Hoover-Spain Park) he showed natural instinct for reading the quarterbacks eyes, while keeping pressure on the receiver. Edgewater began hitting some plays after Conn started playing the bench. Until then Fenteng was abusing Edgewaters wideouts.

@bigredballer  Fenteng reminds me of Ben Smith from Warner Robins. When he hits a receiver or back, the guy is usually slow getting up. And he is unlikely to get turned inside out very often.

@bigredballer  The old "If I'm going to lose, I'll lose without you and that attitude." Pruitt is to be commended for getting rid of the deadwood without resorting to the Saban and Spurrier way, which is just calling a player in and saying, "You're gone!"

@SanDiegoDawg  Outlined against a  blue-gray October sky, the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore they are known as Famine, Pestilence, Destruction and Death. These are only aliases.Their real names are Stuhldrehar, Miller, Crowley and Layden. They formed the crest of the South Bend cyclone before which another fighting Army football team was swept over the precipice at the Polo Grounds yesterday afternoon as 55,000 spectators peered down on the bewildering panorama spread on the green plain below.

Note the opening sentence. Georgia was the consensus National Champions. The AP carried less weight than the Litkenhouse poll back in those days. OSU claiming 42' is a sham and a scam. UGA #1 in 42, and was robbed in 46'. Wally Butts said we would have beten the snot out of Army or the Tie one for the Gipper Irish.

@godawgs678 @Jesse1 @ManOnFire @deltonadawg  If I had quit because I didn't like my coach, my Dad would have needled me ( and at one point probably kicked my tail for being a crybaby) for the rest of his life. Actually upon reflection, the coaches I "liked" led us to average results. The SOB's who put a boot in the rear end when he caught you loafing or not following instructions, led us to hoisting trophies. And this was before the days of participation awards.

EC has a story he can tell about how you remember your coaches. It's priceless

High school basketball has been a dirty business since Moses came down from the mount with the tablets. Sonny Vaccaro, Rich Goldberg, and the rest of the AAU summer circuit king pins have usually determined where these guys are going to college and for how long by the time the kid is 14. Sadly, what started with Oak Hill Academy has become the norm, and worse, is making fast inroads into football. Eastern Christian Academy, Ft. Lauderdale's St Thomas Aquinas, all of the north New Jersey Catholic schools, the Pac-5 Trinity League in Los Angeles, and many more are examples of high school football run amuck.

@OconeeDawg706 @HeelDawg  And many 5 stars are given to guys at high profile high school programs whose coaches bust their chops for the kid. Plus if a player is being recruited by USC, ND, Texas, Bama, and some others, his stock automatically goes up. After all if so and so wants him he must be a cut above. Or that,s how the thinking goes. Now that I think about it,how did Gerry Faust ever lose a game at Notre Dame?

@OconeeDawg706 @Jesse1 @ecdawg  Years ago I went to an IPTAY meeting with a Clemson friend ( I went for the B-B-Que by the way). Danny Ford said at the time that for every Top 100 players listed in the AJC and Greenville News, he had already identified another 250 or so who were capable of helping Clemson. It is not an exact science.

@ecdawg @Jesse1  True, there will always be more 2 stars than 5 stars. But projecting a players development past high school is tricky. Today and tomorrow we will see guys going who played for schools that one might not even know field a football team.
