that defense was pathetic. I don't care how badly we lose, we can't let a team shoot 54% against us....

He'll probably sign with the Heat since they can somehow offer him more money??? Overall I think we had a pretty mediocre off season but we're still a title contender so we should all pray that our team is healthy in the post-season!!!

he would be an upgrade over all of our PGs on the roster but it's also counterproductive since we miss a chance to play and develop the younger guys. If we miss out on Oden I fully expect the FO to pick up  a SF back up for Kwahi.

1 year, 2 months ago on Report: Spurs could be in mix for Mo Williams

Reply

if you look at his pre-draft work outs, not very impressive. I'm not surprised he went so late, he's really nonathletic lol I mean there's a huge difference for instance if Kwahi's vertical was like Lebron's he'd be number 1 of the draft, so these "athleticism factors" go a long way in determining one's value. They typically call it talent but it's more of how NBA ready your body truly is, if Thomas was as strong/athletic as Carmelo, he could probably score just as well in the league, the thing is, he's not. So he's much more easily exposed especially on the defensive end. There's a reason why this guy played against PFs in college, he's not quick enough to even stay in front of 2s and 3s in college, so at an NBA level he has no shot. Do not get your hopes up based on this video!

I said it last year I'll say it again! WE ARE JUST FINE! We have what it takes to win a championship, few things have to go our way like if we get any of these defensive rebounds in game 6 or Kwahi makes a free throw. We added another perimeter play-maker/shooter in Belli and a good defensive player at 4 position who has the quickness to defend more atheltic 3s and 4s. Think about the improvement of Kwahi and Danny and Corey and.... Our team will be even better since we are playing much better defense. I expect us to be back in the finals and compete for a championship again.

1 year, 3 months ago on Buford discusses free agency, says door could be open for Neal return

I'm looking for Leonard to become our 2nd best player this season and really take off. He's already an elite rebounder and defender for his position if he can add an iso/triple threat type move to his game he'll be an All-Star in no time. With the experience he has gained the past 2 off seasons he'll be huge for us moving forward.

so he's an average stretch 4? The Spurs FO must have seen something in him to sign him up, I hope he's a good defender/rebounder.

1 year, 3 months ago on Report: Spurs nab Jeff Pendergraph

Reply

what are the bigs available? I mean we forever having looking for "the shot blocking big". Reality of the NBA is that we are moving towards a small ball type of basketball, so a combo forward/stretch 4 is probably more useful and we have Diaw/Bonner in that position. with Splitter, Duncan and Baynes as big bodies. I think our problem as a scorer off the bench, I'm not sure if Manu is adequate to fill that role against athletic teams. I would much rather have a Jamal Crawford/Monte type player to come in off the bench and score in bunches.

1 year, 3 months ago on Spurs reportedly in contact with Darren Collison

Reply

I like the Belinelli's contract, short, low-risk and it will end towards the contract of everyone else. It looks like the Spurs are giving it 2 more years with this group and after that the core of Kwahi, Tiago and maybe Tony will lead the Spurs to the next generation. I think he's an upgrade over any other perimeter player we have had on the bench including Manu. If Baynes can step up next season, I think we are set for every position. Maybe we can find a few contributing pieces in summer league. We have as great a chance as anyone to win the west again.

1 year, 3 months ago on Grading the Spurs' early offseason moves

I said this last year after loss to OKC than we were ok and a couple games away from finals, I say it again we are a free throw or a defensive rebound away from NBA championship, I am not worried. Kwahi will be a star, Danny Green has proved to be more than just a role player and we have tons of cap space this summer, getting a guy like Josh smith would be ideal but other than that, we'll be fine!

Pros:

Neither of these teams are Memphis or Clippers. I don't care what people say with Westbrook going down thoese 2 teams are the biggest threat to us so we caught a break in that sense.

Cons:

Our perimeter defense wasn't as great in the month of April, not sure we can take any solace in that by watching the Lakers series, since their backcourt was pretty much a D-League back court.

As long as the Lakers don't get the Serge Ibaka case and have the role players shoot 30 for 30, we're fine. Also we need people to step up, we need at least 2 of our bench players to play well every game, maybe Neal, or McGrady or even bonner. As long as these guys don't shoot 1 for 20 from 3, we should be fine.

Spurs in 5, only reason I'm saying 5 is, I'll give Gasol and Howard one game to play out of their minds. The Lakers are a horrible defensive team, they have nobody on parameter, we actually have big men that match up with them in the post, if TP plays at 70% of what he has been all season, Lakers have no shot to beat us.

pretty sure pop will not rest anyone tonight, we need to make sure to use the last 3 games to get our heads together. We need Manu and Boris if we're to beat OKC/Heat....

We have been talking about this guy for such a long time, I still don't remember why? Is he talented or something? I mean averaging like 2pts in summer league doesn't shout talent to me. I know since our team has been so good we are not even talking about trades anymore. "we need a big man", "we need a backup PG", none of these really applies to our situation anymore which is great! I still think we should just keep Blair for the rest of the season, you never know if he might come in handy. I have been the biggest Blair critique because he is horrible pick and roll defender on top of his lack of size, but i like him as the 5th big man off the bench, not as a starter. There may come a time that he could come in and provide energy/rebounding for us in a playoff series, so we might as well hold on to him for that day.
