My offseason scenario is trading Lamb for Dudley and the 30 pick, draft Len/Zeller if possible, amnesty Perk and sign Redick. If we have to do a sign and trade for Redick and give up the 29/30 pick, that's fine. We will have to find another center...maybe trading up from 29 to get Plumlee or trading back from 12 ( No Len/Zeller) with Atlanta to hope we can land Plumlee and Olynyk, or pick up a veteran stop gap like Miami did with Birdman
My lineup would be:
Russ/Dudley/KD/Collison/Ibaka
RJ/Redick/PJIII/Zeller/Veteran big
I think Lamb is more of a trade chip than a player. I'd give Lamb for Dudley in a heartbeat.
How many thing Brooks makes the move to Mike Miller? Or Ginobli? or how Pop has used Bonner/Diaw/Splitter very well? I just have no belief in Brooks.
I think he meant at the time. We had Russell and Maynor then. Go back and read the DT Draft thread...a lot of people here didn't like RJ at the time. I think Mayberry's point was Presti drafts who he wants and doesn't always look at needs.
Loved the Doolittle article and the things said about Len and Zeller.Zeller was 2nd overall for his metrics based rankings, Len 4th, Adams 6th, Gobert 30th.. KCP was rated as a 2nd round prospect because he didn't rate as high defensively as what some are rating him.
I didn't know this was a discussion. Any of the Bulls teams would handle this Heat team...
I think the hiring of assistants is as major as the draft picks. If we hire someone like Lawrence Frank or Brian Shaw or someone of that nature, I think it's a good thing. If we hire a yes man....very bad. Brooks needs someone who will challenge him on rotations and needs a good X's and O's guy.
Russell > Parker
KD and Leonard are wildly different players
Green > Thabo - bigger and more willing to shoot
I'd take Neal in a heartbeat over Martin
Ibaka is much better thans Splitter, but a good comparison
Ginobli's much better at this stage that Jackson, even considering health. MG is a much better shooter and decision maker.
The last two are very correct.
I like Alex Len as being a future all-star. I like Zeller and Olynyk as stretch 4s. KCP, Plumlee, Crabbe as role players. Gobert, Burke, Larkin as busts.
I'd still love AV on our team.
I know we love trade scenarios...#12, Perkins, Lamb, PJIII to Phx for Dudley and the #5. I'm not convinced Lamb is a great player and he may have more value right now than ever. PJIII is intriguing but not a huge asset for the Thunder. We get rid of Perk, which is a big plus for us. This deal would allow us to pursue a free agent with a MLE or as a sign and trade. We take whoever Sam feels is the best propect...Len, Oladipo, Bennett...
From the Phx side, they acquire 3 assets, and we know they covet Lamb (or any wing player with potential). They lose the #5 pick, which would be a big deal, but losing Dudley actually helps them tank next season to get a high pick in a better draft. I think it's a workable deal.
I think CP3 is gone too. Dallas would be a good spot for him, but I do think he's in for a decline for health reasons. He's been great, but that knee would really bother me if I were Dallas.
Jared Dudley for me. I'd love to trade for him.
Not sure on exactly what the rules are, but I think the only way Dallas does this is if the contract is non-guaranteed. Sign Martin to a deal that maches Marion's contract, except it only has 500k guaranteed, get Marion in return, and then Dallas cuts Martin with only 500k counting against their cap. This way they 'dump' Marion without giving up an asset.
But.....why would Kevin Martin agree to this?
Only if Orlando takes Perkins
The point of my post is that we don't know. We waited for the Phx pick to be a lottery pick, hoped the Toronto pick would be #4, and neither panned out. It's the 'bird in the hand' philosophy.
The Dallas pick is protected until 2017. That's a long time to wait for something that could be the #21 pick. Could it be higher...yes...but my gamble is that Cuban puts them to 50 wins at some point over the next 4 years.
To get rid of Perk? It's not a lot.
I do think the Mavericks make the playoffs very soon, and could be a contender within 2 years.
The Mavericks would be less likely to do it next year because they are trying to clear cap space now for Howard/Paul.
Ilyasova would be awesome as well...
