I think anyone who will boo at this game is a clomplete jerk. NONE of these guys are obligated to come and play in this game - well maybe the guys currently employed by their former teams are - but the guys volunteering should be cheered for. I don't care what your disposition is on the player leaving the team - if the team reached out to get them to play in this, then as fans we should accept the fact and treat it any wrong-doings as water under the bridge. If call yourself a Wings' fan, you better not boo #91
@thebiglachovsky @freakazoid0587 @JaysinHorror
Communist! JK - if hockey is cancelled I'm going to become a much bigger Lions fan...
I don't think many people are worried about our inability to score next year - i think we're more worried about the frequency that we'll be pulling pucks from our net. I am not going to blamed Jimmy for much, because we all know he is a pretty damn good goalie. However, if you don't put people in front of him that can cut down the amount of action he sees, well it won't bode well for poor Howard.
Also, we can count on Homer being gone to Sweden - and I wouldn't be surprised if we packaged either Franzen OR Filppula with Nyquist or something for a defenseman.
I don't think KH needs to help NSH sink their ship either - but I do think the Red Wings could use Weber, so it is perfectly acceptable to go after him. If we don't end up getting him and just drive the price up - well then ok thats too bad, it will just give Poile another thing to cry about to the media....
I think the point is, we'd force Nashville to do that to keep Weber. Sure, they can match that $12M, but until someone forces them to do that, there is no reason for them to throw that much money at him (Weber). Also, PHX would be insane to trade their best defenseman (or maybe even player, assuming they don't get Doan back) for those guys.
Realistically, this will be Weber's last year as a Predator (if at all). TO me, it looks like he wants nothing else to do with that team - my best guess is ownership, and its willingness to spend money to ice a good team. They just can't hold onto their players, and can't build a team that can win it all - so the players just jump ship.
That being said, we'd put NSH between a rock and a hard place if we put that offer out
Man screw that guy who was trashing Ken or Mick. I'm fine w/ Murph, but god dammit leave the other two out of it.
hell yeah it would be worth it - well only if we continue making the playoffs like we have and don't get any early picks (like #1-#20) for the next 4 years. Plus there is no guarantee that a 1st round pick will even play out (sure it is a greater possibility, but weirder things have happened)
I think handcuffing Nashville is the way to go. Screw those Nash-VILLAINS over. Still not sure about the "Weber-ing" on Z tho...
@marti783 @ThroatShot Has everyone forgotten about Ericsson's NTC??? Holland and the Wings are committed to him. If anyone moves it is White-Quincey-Kindl.
@FiveforFive I wouldn't consider it "losing" hudler. More like, "parting ways" with hudler
Well my day has been made.
@thebiglachovsky @ThroatShot he'll be on the 2nd line with Filpulla and Bertuzzi. Two guys that will get him the puck. It'll keep Franzen on his toes so when he starts slacking/taking too many PIMs we'll see Gus up with Z and Pav.
Are we suggesting to roll Z-Pav-Bert, Eaves-Filps-Nyquist, Mule-Helm-Cleary, Miller-Abdelkader-Mursak/Emmerton??
@Twig @Robert1103 I think if we were to trade anyone, it would be Quincey and Franzen. Whatever team we sent them to would guarantee Franzen for a serious amount of time, while they would have the opportunity to sign Quincey to a decent contract. He is still an RFA so he would have to go to arbitration to get more than the team really thinks he deserves.
@Twig @Robert1103 It is a business - the players all know that. Sure you might have upset a guy like Fedorov for paying another player more, but there is no way Lidstrom would ever take it that way. When the free agency is as bare as it is this year, guys are going to get over-paid for. Remember Kovalchuk?
Ok we all know Kronwall is going to be the #1 guy next year. Suter would be perfect to play with him - it would be like the Kronwall-Stuart pairing but much better offensively, and about the same (if not better) defensively.
@Robert1103 it sounds like you play too much NHL12 "Be a GM" mode.
@Robert1103 the problem with that is, EVERYONE knows that. Good luck finding a GM that will trade a "REAL" defenseman for a guy that only plays when he wants to
Never, and I mean never, believe Leaf fans. If you ask enough of them, someone will tell you #99 is gonna lace them up one more year and play for the Blue/White...
