I remember the first big Thunder trade - the Jeff Green trade - that even though I knew cognitively that it was a good move, I was emotionally distraught. If you watch and talk about the Thunder as much as I do these guys just become part of your life (albeit not in any major way). I'll miss seeing Hash over there on the bench... waiting to make a long distance call to Caron. GOODBYE, MY BENCHMOB FRIEND.

I think someone will pick Thabeet up. He's a good third center because of his attitude and he can contribute well in a limited role.

@El Prez You should blame someone for that. There's a wide chasm between wanting to hit someone, particularly a woman, and doing it.

@Sustainable Parameters BTW, I hate when politician's talk about "fixing" education. I taught for 6 years in OKC. My classroom wasn't broke. The number one obstacle I had to deal with is stupid legislative mandates that prevented me from crafting authentic lessons. The best thing politicians could do is hand the profession back over to teachers. I can't even explain to you how uninformed most legislators are about basic educational issues. It's dumbfounding they influence what teachers do. Sorry.... rant over.

@daft_drunk @Grolgar Obviously there's being unassigned land (and why) and the landruns are pretty fascinating. "Far and Away" with Tom Cruise has a good landrun scene at the end even though it's of the 1893 Chereokee Strip in northern Oklahoma, not the 1889 unassigned land run with present-day OKC.

Oklahoma was also almost split into white (Oklahoma) and Native American states (Cherokee), but obviously white people pushed against it.

My favorite historical actor from OKC is Roscoe Dunjee. He was the editor of the Oklahoma City Black Dispatch - one of the largest black newspapers in the country. There was hope that Oklahoma might provide a "promised land" for blacks fleeing the south and a lot of black towns were established in Oklahoma. However, upon statehood segregation was the first law on the books. Dunjee fought hard against it. Really brave stuff. I had an assignment at OU to chronicle WWII via a new sources and I chose the Black Dispatch. Man, I read those old papers on microfiche machines for hours. Incredibly interesting to read about WWII through the perspective of the black paper. That's the kind of stuff that college is all about. Never would have done that otherwise.

@Stevitch McAdams @[weed wolf faction] Certainly some successful black people in OKC. Andrew Black is arguably the most well known chef in the city. John Pettis is maybe the fastest rising young politician in OKC and current councilman. Lots of artists like Jabee, etc, etc. Urban Roots is black-owned and one of the hippest restaurants in the core. C'mon, y'all. I don't even live in Oklahoma and I can name plenty of up-and-coming black contributors to the future of OKC.

@Sustainable Parameters @Half International Man of Mystery Half Amazing With the next CBA supposedly raising the cap/tax considerably... Reggie at $9 million could end up being a very good contract. I could live with $10 milllion per. He certainly shouldn't be making more than Kyle Lowry (4/48) so you'd think $10 per would get a deal done. My guess is that the Thunder would love to get him at $8 million.

Is there any way we get him locked up before the October deadline? I know there's not a lot of incentive for him (except injury) to do it earlier... I think he'll be more expensive after the season.

Going through the league trying to envision a trade at the deadline involving Perk and there's not much, but what about Perk, a future 1st, and 2nd rounder for Gerald Green if no one pans out at shooting guard. Would we have to include more?

This is of course assuming it doesn't look like the Suns will make the playoffs or re-sign Green.

@FunakiEjectsAnother [#StartLambFaction] I'm not sure a future 1st gets it done though.

Here are our assets that I think we'd have to consider some combination of in addition to Perk's expiring that are realistic and have value (for example, I don't think Roberson has any trade value as of now): Lamb, PJ3, Abrines, Pleiss, likely late 1st future round pick (low value).

We'd have to give up something of value for the Pacers to consider it.

If the Pacers decided to blow it up, this trade puts us $1.6 million over the tax line. Is it worth it? Hollinger's model says we'd lose a win... can someone explain that? Doesn't seem right.

We'd have to throw in a pick or Pleiss probably. And, unfortunately, unless we're willing to part with Nick (which probably makes basketball sense) then we couldn't stay under the cap.

@[weed wolf faction] Given an opening in the defense, I envision him being able to finish better than Thabo... at least long term. Thabo was often indecisive when there were lanes to the basket. I'm hoping Roberson could be better. That's all I meant by slashing....

@Julius F Wrek @Grolgar Man. I felt really good about PJ3 in summer league. He just looked confident and he'd figured out a role. I hope he bounces back quick from surgery.

@FunakiEjectsAnother [#StartLambFaction] That would add $5 million of salary and for two seasons? Hibbert is paid $15 million per. We'd have to dump other players too... or go into the tax.

I think going into the tax for 2 seasons of Hibbert would be worth it. We'd become clear favorites I think.

Who is more likely to have a breakout season... Roberson or Lamb?

Maybe it's just summer, but I'm starting to envision Roberson as a better Thabo whose slashing ability/athleticism could potentially offset his lack of shooting.

Maybe I'm dreaming. Dude is a 60% free throw shooter...

@Old Man Game I think the Thunder really like to focus in on guys that do one thing well with late picks... hoping they can develop other parts of their game. I think they're hoping Huestis' defense translates and he can develop a three point shot. At least that's my best guess.

3 weeks, 4 days ago on Saturday Morning Cartoons: PG

@Sustainable Parameters What guaranteed "good" players are available at the end of the first round? The answer: none. It's a total crapshoot at that point. Just look at previous drafts. We took the guy we wanted long term.

I don't get it either because Huestis is old already. But we'll see...

@FunakiEjectsAnother [#StartLambFaction] @Sustainable Parameters Just getting rid of Thabeet would have allowed us to do just that.

@FunakiEjectsAnother [#StartLambFaction] I'd put free throws last. Adams offense is almost a bonus for our team from the center position (thanks for lowering expectations, Perk)... But we need him to be viable on the defensive end. I agree DRPG needs to improve.
