I am not a fan of likes on a Facebook page as a significant metric or source of awareness. Maybe I am being too egocentric here, but I think it is way too easy to click "like" and forget about whatever it is you just clicked on.

To me it seems like a weak call to action.

@rachel_howells  It is hard for me to take a PDF with such a glaring error seriously:

"Research on Poronography"

But if we ignore the glaring error and dig into it I take issue with a number of of things here:

The sample size is terribly small compared to the overall population so it is hard to gain any real understanding of meaning here. Are talking about a half a percent of the male population, a quarter percent?

The line below caught my eye because of the same issue.

"Analysis of women's letters posted online revealed two themes"

How many letters were read and how many different women wrote them?

And I keep coming back to this line too:

"A survey of women leaving abusive male partners found that 75%"

So women who are already being abused say their partners/spouses used pornography.

Fine. How many women are in good relationships where their partners/spouses watch/use pornography.

It is just sloppy research.

And no, you can't just say that video games cause aggression because all of the same questions are involved.

@rachel_howells  Unless you have some sort of scientific proof we cannot say that porn is part of the problem here.

It is like saying that a person who watches cartoons automatically believes they can do whatever the cartoon characters do.

Many people want to draw some sort of correlation between the two but it is not that simple.

That Irish girl made me choke with laughter. I might play that for my kids and tell them it is their first Chanukah gift.

I think it comes down to whether people understand the focus, purpose and direction of where you want to go. When people can follow that it makes it easier to try and  have a uniform purpose. But does it have to be written for the public to see?

I don't know. I think it depends on the organization and what they are doing.

Culture is certainly a big part of the equation but I can tell you from personal experience that many of the pitches I receive essentially ask me to either work for free or to pay to be a part of the "wonderful company" they want me to write about.

One of the reasons I agreed to become a brand ambassador for Nintendo is because of how we are treated. We are not required to write about any of the products/services/experiences we are provided with and if we do there is no push back for posts that are critical.

The purpose of my comment isn't to praise Nintendo but to illustrate some of the differences between companies, bloggers and PR. I think one of the challenges comes from so many companies not having a clearly defined manner of working with bloggers and an understanding of what that means.
