It's an offer of an evaluation, you called it. At the evaluator's convenience. Honestly I would do the same thing; I don't want problem children in the program no matter how fast they can run, yada yada.... Now if the kids want to call it a scholarship offer.... ok to show off to your friends but don't be scheduling a press conference to accept just yet.
Nothing negative about him but I think 4 TE's on scholarship is enough.

Ramsey got the physical tools but the offense he played in HS didn't showcase him. Bauta reminds me of Daniel Cobb at this point (sorry to dredge up bad memories).

Give me players that are AT LEAST going to stay eligible academically and discipline-wise. Of course I want the most talented players but talented and suspended ain't gonna help. And a subset of players that may not be the most gifted athletically but work their butts off is a pretty good example to point to and say,"imagine if you took your gifts and worked that hard." Gotta have the right chemistry. I think everybody on LHB knows that because of all the posts I see praising character and whatnot. On the other hand if a recruiting mistake happens and we sign an energy vampire I hope the coaches sit him and push him to transfer out asap.
My all time favorite has to be Miami signing Willie Williams and not knowing about his lengthy rap sheet. And they blew off the trouble he caused on his visit to Florida.
After the 4 guys players that got arrested for armed robbery this would be the most questionable recruit they can sign. Smells of desperation.

Ridiculous that these are the player transfer rules in this day and age when not only do coaches change schools but schools change conferences. 37 schools wow. Including the school where his former Ok State offensive coordinator is now the head coach because....well who knows, maybe it's out of spite toward a former coach who wanted out of Stillwater. What can I say, I'm no longer shocked at the system. Now the kid should go juco for a year and then go wherever he wants. He should enroll quickly before the NCAA closes that route ...in the name of amateur sports no doubt (cough).

You have a good point about playing time but I think any DL that signs this year is just about guaranteed to play eventually because we only signed ONE freshman DL last year. There may be a lot of bodies in 2013 & 2014 but after that....
Well if there was 1 position group we undersigned this last class it was DL. I mean in numbers not talent. So I say load up on these DL guys.
