I'm with @LynnDalsing on the hyphened email. But I love hearing different ways to collect addresses. Thanks for sharing!
It's funny you posted this, I almost deleted the email based on the subject line, then looked at the "from" name and decided to open it because I DO watch the show. I thought it was hilarious. Well played by MarketingProfs for sure.
What I find equally as interesting, is how it's being talked about. I saw only one tweet about it (however, i wasn't doing a search on it). And then I was intrigued to open your email because I wanted to see what else was being said.
Great way to go viral, but also a reminder to everyone that you need to really think outside the box to get people to talk, you can't just put your own spin on something someone else has done.
Great article, Harrison.
I was excited to see your second point: "What are your goals?" Too many people and companies are jumping into social media without a goal or plan of any sort. Having goals will help identify if 'going social' has been beneficial to your company and establish an ROI. Peter Ghali wrote a great whitepaper on this: http://blog.icontact.com/blog/social-media-roi-a-deeper-look/
"Who will manage the digital team?" I also thank you for this point! This needs to be owned by one person internally, it can not be 100% out-sourced.
Thank you for this article, Harrison!
