@Who Really Cares @FuuManChuMan The only way I see this working is for them taking on expensive contracts (Kunitz and Scuderi) but I don't see why they would do that... or to retain 50% salary. This way, Jordan becomes a 3M$ 3rd line center which make wayyyy more sense.. but I don't see why the Canes would pay 3M$ for the next 7 years to a player not on their roster.

What about Eric Gryba from the sens? I m. Not sure if they are open to trade him or if they are high on him. But I have read somewhere the sens have 8 defensemen signed for next year, there are likely to trade 1 or 2. I believe he has 1 (or maybe 2) year left on his contract (2.5m according to his wiki). Dude is known for some hard and mean hits (dupuis last year, eller in playoffs vs have, etc) and always looked decent to me when watching watching the sens..maybe it would be worth a look?

wiat a minute, wait a minute.. Sharp on the 4th line? Has he fallen THAT much? A team that can afford to put a guy like him on the 4th line is a deep team indeed...

@Redacted_66 @skunk8 While I do agree that he would fit in perfectly, unfortunately the odds of the Isles trading Okposo within the division are probably lower than 0.

@Bing_87 @skunk8 Doesn't Kane makes 5.25 M$ and Tavares 5.5 M$ ??? That would put Kane in James Neal territory... not too bad IMO. The Isles really had a deal with Tavares so it'a a little bit unfair to use him as a comparison.
I am happy to see other people saw the whole empty net fiasco and the stupid pass from Letang to Malkin. I was yelling at the TV. Those are things you expect pro athletes getting paid millions of dollars playing hockey would know not to do. This isn't a system or coach or strategy issues, it is mental lapses and loss of focus from the players on the ice. I don't expect those kind of mistakes to happen every night and I have confidence that this team will soon turn it on fully and keep that level for 60 (or 65 if needed) minutes every game.

@iacas @LoranMannIsTheMan @YorkPens I respectfully disagree with your assessment of Despres. The Scuderi - Despres pairing from last game didn't look too bad in my opinion. This would mean a lot as everyone else looked bad in their game with Scuderi.
@Mr. Confidence @Billyho @pawsbyandmeowkin No, I believe that is the point of the 9 game trial. If he was to play in 10th game, then his contract would kick in, but not if he is returned to his Junior or European team in this case. My opinion is to give him the 9 games and see what he is made of. Worst case scenario it doesn't pan out and he's not ready yet but it won't have a huge effect on his development. It also gives the team more time to see how he could mesh with Sid or Geno. Also, after the 9 games, Bennett could be closing up on a return and KK would not be as needed then anyways.
Apparently he got clipped to the heel by Kapanen's skate... the plot thickens.

@PenGeno @LP66 That is what is the most frustrating, you just know there are better and younger D men that could take his spot, as proven by Harrington and Dumoulin at a far lesser cost which would be used to improve the team in other areas. Those 2 were way more effective and less noticeable (good thing for a defenseman) IMO. But they won't ever get a chance until that contract and roster spot disappears or someone is traded.

@PenGeno I don't know about him yet. Some shifts he plays an OK game and make good decisions, then the next one will have my banging my head on the wall. Consistency doesn't seem to be there yet. I still think he goes down way too often for his own good.
@KyleSchroeck @Zhan He would get paid NHL money, but it wouldn't show up on the cap right? Isn't there like a 925k relief for those kind of situations. He makes 600k so I would think the relief would completely eliminate his salary from the cap situation. Maybe I misunderstood that part of the CBA?
@dannyjimmy @LP66 @PenGeno What time zone is that on the moon?

@Bing_87 @PenGeno @LP66 Im a cable cutter, so I use their Gamecenter Live and I absolutely love it! I hook up my laptop to my TV and enjoy the game in the living room, or I watch the game on a monitor at my computer desk and keep doing whatever I want on my 2nd monitor (like posting/reading TPB).
@PenGeno @Bing_87 @pawsbyandmeowkin Well the fact that it is streamed somehow increases the likelihood of someone picking it up and stream in by another way for us people out of the viewing area! That's how I got to see the CBJ game and hopefully the same will happen tonight!
@PenGeno @LP66 It kinda makes you wonder why its called the NHL Network when it chooses to air a prospect game over actual NHL "games".
@PenGeno Isn't the US Top Prospects Game tonight? My guess is they chose to air that instead of NHL pre-seasons games.
I don't what's the beef with Despres. I thought he played a good game. He carried the puck a lot of times out of the D zone, made some awesome stretch passes, had good stick on puck and coverage in the D zone and didn't look that bad on the PP. Granted, he took a penalty that cost the team a goal but I thought he played a much better game than Bortuzzo which could of been ejected for his hit and you guys don't seem to think he was/is underwhelming.

@Rage @LP66 Well, to be fair, I have seen some of those rumors being thrown over here in Canada as well and I doubt they are all based out of Madden. But even without the rumors, wouldn't be a good idea to keep the current coach or appoint one from the organisation for a year and see if they can make it work under the new GM's plan? And if it doesn't, then you have the opportunity of maybe going after Babcock when his contract his up in Detroit. Obviously, Babcock could re-sign with Detroit during this off-season or sometime next year, but you would still have some time to evaluate your possible candidates.

With all the rumors/sayings that Babcock wants to coach the Pens, but might not be able to get out of his contract, could they keep Bylsma for a year and fire him next season? Or let the new GM decide which of the assistant gets the "interim" tag for the year and try to land Babcock next year (they will actually get a year to talk with him and get to know him better). Also, maybe they just don't want to release their coaches yet to avoid having them take contracts somewhere else. Seeing as so many teams could have interest in Bylsma, maybe they want to wait a little bit and see if the divisional rivals will find their coaches before letting go of Bylsma and Co.
Well, Im gonna watch the rest of the game on the TV with the GF. Hopefully this turns our luck around!LETS GO PENS!

Remember when NYR power play couldnt score and ours was feared :(
@dmilesend Yeah I have a feeling this is the game he will show everyone that is piling on him why he's still valuable to the team.
@Mr. Confidence Seriously.. and dont tell me the Rangers couldnt have got called for too many men on the clear attempt just prior to that.
Brassard is such a beetch
FLEURY! FLEURY! FLEURY!
Hopefully, the flood gates are open now. Release the Kraken!
@Blowguin missed that, was busy liking every comments! what happened?
@Mr. Confidence I am sure someone will just throw a lot of money at him.. hopefully he likes it with the Pens and stay put.
@Mr. Confidence @Bilbo Gibbons Good playoff hockey play I guess
@Bilbo Gibbons He got Bennett'ed
Our savior is OK, back on the ice
@Mr. Confidence @Bilbo Gibbons He took "crash the net" literally.
@Bilbo Gibbons Wait until you see your boy...
@Bilbo Gibbons I think Kuni should crash the net and get some contact with Lundquist. It seemed to work when he did it, Lundquist would get out of his game to complaint about anyone coming close to him after that.
@Mr. Confidence @LP66 Send a txt to Dan!
@Mr. Confidence Who takes his place centering the 3rd line tho? Double shifting Crosby/Sutter?
@PenSouth where can I buy these Jerseys?
@Bilbo Gibbons If they could just get 1 goal, I am certain that the guys would get their mojo back and with the way they are playing right now, 2-3 more goals would come easily.
@Mr. Confidence @LP66 period just ended for me. Ill try not to spoil anything for the remainder of the game
So... how much of a delay you guys have? let me know when the period ends for you
@Mr. Confidence @LP66CFA + Gibbons deployed on that PK
4 on 4 is where Gibby shines!
This Ranger Kid is a brave soul and kinda looks bored his team is
leading... Hopefully we'll see some tears coming out of him later
@Mr. Confidence @PenSouth would watch again
