I was just thinking if the Mountain West manages to get boise, byu, and a few other teams they could make it to 16. Why does this matter?
They could change the name to the Mountain 16 i.e. M-16.
I like the idea of 3 megaconferences. A 4, 6, or 8 team playoff wouldn't be too hard to figure out. In the end I just want to see FBS split in two. I think there should be some uniformity on OOC games as well. Maybe with a playoff there won't be any need to schedule FCS teams, or even games outside of the possible big 3.
@Mike Thoms BYU, BSU are definitely iffy. I could see UNLV, Hawaii, or maybe another Texas school as well.
something like a pac 12 / big 12 alliance will come about to form a western 20.
