@Paulie_NYR94 not defending Hank - he was brutal, but Cam didn't exactly look sharp on the goal he gave up.

seems like a lot of people are willing to give Talbot a pass. He was truly awful on 3 of the 4 goals

A few random thoughts...
Felt sorry for Brassard and Pouliot (an Hags) getting a minus on that goal where Hags hustled to get back. Cally and Richie slowly headed to the bench and made it there while a 3 on 3 became a 5 on 3. Because Brassard and Pouliot were barely on the ice they get a minus. Small complaint I know.
Not sure I wanted Pyatt to get hit like that either but we all know only an injury would get him out of the lineup - just wish it wasn't to the head.
McD on the PP - funny how Torts never thought he could play there yet trotted Girardi out on the PP on a regular basis. So maybe Hags wouldn't suck on the PP either?
Lastly, I noticed the Kreider kiss to Talbots helmet as well and it almost looked like he knew immediately he'd get teased for it. Good catch, Kev

9 months, 4 weeks ago on How About That Pass From Zuccarello?
Saucer pass was necessary on that play to get over sticks AND lead the players and it was a perfect saucer pass. You'd be surprised how many NHL players can't make that pass. I don't know much about soccer - maybe it's an easier pass there
8 are RFA contracts and of those 2 are Mash and Falk. Need t ensure Kreider and JMoore get locked up. Other RFAs (Zucc, Talbot, MDZ, Brassard) have reasons for/against signing and will come down to cap increase and rest of this year performance.
There are also 8 UFA contracts - players were Rangers could easily lose (no offer sheet match). Oviously top 2 that need to be signed in this category are Hank and Cally. In the 'let walk' category of UFA are DMoore, Pyatt and Pouliot. In the 'maybe/maybe not' category are Girardi, Sralman and Boyle (need to have a reasonable value signing for these I'd guess).
it was sooo saucy!!!
I'm gonna give Pouliot a pass on this one since he was shoved to the ground in the first place with no call. Even the entire broadcast team originally thought it was a Pittsburgh penalty.
That said, Pouliot, Pylon and Dorsett are about tied in brainfart penalties this year - way too many.

Normally I'd agree, but this network adores the Pens except for Olczyk, who might be the least biased announcer I've ever listened to. Seems like the Pens have rivalries with everyone because next week on 'Rivalry Wednesday on NBCSN' the Pens are on for the 3rd straight week.
Re Emrick specifically, he's Pittsburg born and raised and I thought last night it showed. You'd have thought the Rangers were down 2-0 after the first and about 8 minutes into the second when the Pens finally had a good shift, Emrick starts to say how they were dominating. Olczyk quickly reminds him it's been all Rangers until this shift.
I do agree that Sam and Joe are a tough listen these days. Would love to see Albert on a regular basis on the TV side.
I'm with you - Rozy fits with Blackhawks because even a Stanley Cup team has to save a few dollars carrying some dead weight. Kinda like we do with Pyatt

Then why all this talk NOW after a few good games by Talbot? I understand dollars and sense (and cents). I just think the goalie position is entirely different from any other position (especially due to low concussion rate, injuries etc) when it comes to longer term contracts. Just my opinion
I think one more full year for Isles in Hempstead but don't qoute me on that
jeez - Talbot's had a few nice games but do you seriously think that's enogh to unload the guy who's been rock-solid for us for several years now? I really think we're getting way ahead of ourselves here.
Glad to see Hagelin - my favorite Ranger - back in the lineup. He easily could have had 2 more asissts on splendid passes to Pouliot and Pyatt earlier in the game.
Can't wait till Cally's back - maybe then we can get Pytt off the PK once and for all.
not me- I was a Dubi fan to the end. Still wear my Dubi Jersey to Rangers games
10 months, 1 week ago on Lundqvist Progressing Slowly; No News on Nash; Mashinter Out; Zucc In
So before the whole 9 game road trip to start the season began, I read a lot of "with this schedulecoming back to MSG at 4-5-0 8 pts would be a good result". We missed the target by one game, so the sky's not falling, but I think what had all Ranger fans up in arms was the lack of effort or enthusiasm. Finally last night I saw both effort and enthusiasm so I for one am seeing the glass half full finally.
10 months, 1 week ago on Rangers 3, Red Wings 2 (OT)
There's reason to love Dubi. Even when he wasn't soring he did million oher things to help th team, like best PK on the team and sticking up for his mates. And if Torts loved Dubi so much, why did Dubi get traded?
They did no more than the Ranger's do.
10 months, 1 week ago on Controversial Calls Go Against Rangers
I was also shocked to see Pyatt thrown out as the extra man when Talbot was pulled. Yeah - let's throw our slowest guy out there because puck pursuit doesn't matter late in the game at desparation time.
The call I disagree with is that the Rangers should have gotten a man advantage penalty in the Mashinter-Simmonds scuffle. Simmonds pulled his own helmet off which should be an additional 2 minutes. Mashinter's helmet (and Dorsett's too for that matter) was pulled off by Simmonds so they don't get the extra 2. But the refs seemed a little intimidated by the Philthy crowd all night
not to mention there's about an 75% chance that any shot DelZotto takes hits a defender about 5 feet away from him. The other 25% of his shots are about 10 feet wide.
10 months, 1 week ago on Flyers 2, Rangers 1
@al55s - I think from what I've seen you'll be able to count on Hagelin to play his heart out too, not just Cally. That kid works his ass off every shift. Don't underestimate the energy he brins to a team. I for one look forward to his return ad when Cally's back as well we can jettison some of this dead wood from the roster.
How do you come up with that this is basically the same teamas the past 3 years? Almost half of the team showed up from Columbus last year and they knew nothing but losing while they were there. Add in Pulliot and Pyatt and a few players playing their first NHL games this year and it's not the same team at all!
Gotta disagree. While Hags doesn't always handle a pass cleanly, he's one of the few guys that can go into the corner to bttle for a puck win the battle and then carry the puck free. Sometimes his feet move faster than his hands - if that's what you're saying - but 'strong on the puck'? - I'd say he's one of the stronger ones weve got.
10 months, 1 week ago on Hagelin Feeling Stronger; Stepan More Like Himself
@Free Mashinter --> you say "I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised since Richards and Stepan are the only two players in the current line-up who have ever scored more than 20 goals in a season" - both Boyle and Pyatt had 20 goal seaons, but I get the point - to expect to catch lightning in a bottle twice from either of them would be asking too much.
10 months, 2 weeks ago on Only Three Rangers Fowards Have Scored Goals This Season
Re Fast, he's even been on a line with that offensive dynamo Pyatt and he still can't score. Nevermind Hartford, send Fast to Charlotte
10 months, 2 weeks ago on Pyatt to First Line; Kreider Coming Soon?
I heard otherwise, like forcing a turnover that led to Kristo's goal.
exactly how many minutes do you want him to get? Right now he is 5th most minutes per game among Ranger forwards with over 15 minutes per game and 0 points and -6 to show for it. Yeah there's a lot of hate , and though he's 6'4 230, more often he seems 5'4 130.
Anyone concerned that we don't have any extra players up? Someone pulls a groin muscle in warmups and we're starting the game a man down. Shoulda called up an extra body (Kreider, Haley - anyone but Bickel)
10 months, 3 weeks ago on Del Zotto Likely Out vs. Caps; New Lines; Talbot Talks Recall
Not bad - I'd probably switch up Brassard and Boyle but other than that, thumbs up.
anyone who invokes the name of Bickel loses my attention immediately
10 months, 3 weeks ago on Vigneault Could Push Sather for Trade
So are we all in agreement that the motto should have been 'clean sweep' instead of 'clean slate' for AV? Clean slate appeared to have been BS anyway, when we went to battle this season with the same crew we nded last season with.

@SA24 "And you gotta be patient. It's not easy but I can see us in February with a team that's clicking saying "hey remember when we sucked earlier this year" --> not with this lin-up of slugs.
This is what you're worried about? How bout worrying about rootig for a team that doesn't even look like it belongs in the NHL?
My son made me laugh last nite - said our top line is playing first line minutes in Hartford. Watching the past 2 games, I really can't argue with him.
I still have my Dubinsky jersey

10 months, 4 weeks ago on Rangers Have Closed Door Meeting; Off Today
How'd you like how the Sharks looked? Pretty awesome, huh? Who's their enforcer? Right - they don't have one - just a bunch of talented players who play all parts of the game. Maybe instead of constantly pining for one-dimensional guys like Bickel or Mashinter or Paley, we should be looking for guys like Joe Pavelski, Andrew Ladd or Dave Bolland - guys who can be phsical without being goons as well as having some offensive upside. The game's changing, boys - get on-board
nah - it was Girardi who sent it to Pyatt and Pyatt who turned it over. atch it again.
10 months, 4 weeks ago on Video: AV, Rangers React to 3-1 Win vs. Kings
@calithirteen - yeah that was Pyatt on the turnover, though Sam and Joe never placed the blame where it belonged (oriinally saying it was Richards)
Wow! I cant wait to see the same lineup that looked like crap for much of last season.
Still don't know how a few of our talented youngsters can't crack this lineup. Say all you want about them getting quality minutes at Hartford, etc, it just boggles my mind how other teams can work their rookies in and bring them along slowly at the NHL level and the Rangers can't. Oh well, I'll sit down again tonight and watc Pyatt, Asham, Boyle, etcget beat to every loose puck.
11 months ago on Rangers @ Kings (Game 2)
gotta really disagree about Stralman on the 'good' list. I thouht Staal was the only d-man that played well. The others were either bad or bad by the standards I've set for them. And the Stralman standards aren't that high.
11 months ago on Coyotes 4, Rangers 1
agree 100%. Heard Boyle gets his sticks from Mikasa.
Seriously though, I'm starting to question this coaching staff already. Who puts their 2 slowest guys (Boyle and Pyatt) out together to kill a penalty. Between Boyle's glass stick and Pyatt fanning on clearng attempts, not to mention being a scond late to each puck, there's got to be a better answer.
keep trying to convince us about Pyatt - seems you've convinced yourself (including and especially your last sentence). The only way your comment makes any sense is if Pyatt is the 13th forward.
And if I see AV playing Pyatt on the PP or worse yet on the PK, then I'll know AV was a big mistake.
11 months ago on Vigneault Explains Roster Decisions
you or I could score 25 goals playing alonside the Sedin brothers in their prime
Where are the 'so many kids'? There not on the Ranger roster so he's not needed either
gotta agree with most everyone else - his skating needs work before he can become a regular in the NHL. I think he plays tonight for a couple of reasons. Get him action early in preseason before he get sent to Hartford AND have him in the lineup against the hated Devils in case things get nasty. Rangers dressing a pretty physical lineup for tonight
11 months, 3 weeks ago on The Rangers Scrimmaged Yesterday
WOW - can we get rid of Pyatt already. The only thing keeping Lindberg and Fast from dominating more in the scrimmage yesterday was the Pyatt baggage they were carrying. No room - waive him now so maybe he can catch on somewhere else
