@Dave423 Hells yeah i do. I have my own subscription to Cock Puncher Monthly, though I have never been a fan of Crying Pussy Chronicles. Guess that's more your style...
I'm glad you know what people want. I guess that also means the thousands of fans that donated money to this movie you swear no one cares about are just haters who donated their money so that the AVGN movie fails and James slips into obscurity again.
Last I checked most of the folks following James's site are behind him 100%. The ones who aren't are the gimme gimme gimme brats who just know what they like and can't be bothered to wait/understand/imagine anything else.

Ahh you can always tell who are the devoted fans and who comes here once in a while and feels entitled to free entertainment.. Thanks for the video's guys. I actually appreciate what you're doing. The fucktards who log in demanding more avgn new episodes obviously can't be bothered to follow the site and read other posts on here which SEVERAL TIMES OVER have explained there will be no more AVGN new episodes while the movie is in production...
Haha kool. Always nice to see you on camera a bit more. And you do a solid Elmo impression, I almost wish you got to do re-dub's of some of the scenes and altered the elmo lines(with the way puppets talk, could be pretty convincing). Though it'd take up a lot of time vs something simple like you did here. Was fun though. :)
I guess with James gone you are getting a lot more sleep.. you look more awake and healthy now.. hehehe. I guess James is just a bad influence on you! nyahahahah...

@Firewall_Philip_Hanan Considering how short those Thumb movies are, It'd be kool to just do a handful of them (handful of thumbs..*snicker*) all together. I'd really love to hear Mike and Jame's response to seeing them all though. Especially since they did Thumb Wars and Frankenthumb.

Great review Mike. Too bad this comment list ended uppopulated by some yoyo using it as a chance to plug their own personal quest to warhammer their opinion into other people.. lol.
I actually like how you chose a theme for the review and stuck with it (comparisons and rip offs) rather than sticking with the usual formula of summary, satire and slam it. :) It made more sense and was definitely a lot more fun to watch rather than you trying to make sense of the movie in some way to us and everyone watching and.. scratching their heads..lol..
Good times. You may have dropped your old title but, yer welcome to my mom any day !! hehehe
Very kool. I like that you did a bit of animation for the in-jokes. Since you have an art background and we all know you can draw great, it'd be a nice way to create your own unique edge to all these projects by working that angle. I don't think it'd need ot be insanely overanimated or a screen joke every 10 seconds, but i do really enjoy seeing you get creative like that. :)

Ahh HAusu, I caught wind of this a few years ago and at that time it was next to impossible to find a hard copy so I snagged the AVI to see WTF it was about. Now I have the bluray. Such a great old flick...
I'm a bit sad to see the format change for your Monday reviews, but hey not a big deal. Going simple isn't really a bad thing, takes less time to make the video's and I am sure Mike has plenty on his plate right now as it is.
I do feel bad for Mike. James is away doing the movie, there is a backlog of video's to help fill in the gap of him being gone but the fans are always hungry for more and the format of a new bit of content every other day is a large hole to fill. Mike takes up the torch to offer up what he can and all he gets is grief from AVGN fans no matter what he's doing... sheesh... I'd rather see stuff from mike then drop down to seeing only 1 new video a week. though to be honest if the site dropped to 1 bit a week I'd still be ok with that too.
Yer doin great Mike. If I had the time to drive way down to philly to shake yer hand and buy you a beer, I certainly would. Maybe soon!

LOL the Vulcan ass blaster.. awesome...
the last line James says actually got me thinking. If we found a way to teleport matter from one space to another (and I recall an article stating a team of scientists managed to actually do this with a simple molecule or something a few years ago) what kind of insane experimentations would end up happening to try and say.. send matter to another planet? Would we have to launched and land a rocket on the other planet and then teleport stuff there ? Would make mass colonisation or terraforming a lot faster.
but more to the original statement.. I wonder if scientists would try to use the technology to find alternate dimensions, or heaven/hell. If we did figure out a way to alter the tech for teleportation to send matter or people to the afterlife ... what would happen? Would it be safe to allow anyone to come back? would leaving the portal open for a moment to return possibly bring something back?

Cute. though it'd have been funner to do a bit more narrative where by playing the game, james and Mike are altered for life to forever cheer and smile when they see someone walking their dog, just as the dog is going to shit. Or have them actually walk the plastic dog and make it shit in public to get people's reactions.. or trying to attach a hand-pump similar to whats on the doggy doo toy to a real dog to help it shit... ahh.. fun.
but still, a cute one. I am a little amazed the game was made yet they didn't make BROWN or even tan gack for it rather than the yellow stuff.. if yer gonna doo it.. go ALL THE WAY :)
Congrats on the successfuly survive of a lengthy 5 day trip with 2 cats. I did a road trip from upstate NY through Missouri to Arizona over a few days when I moved out there a few years back, then drove back with one of our cats in my car from AZ to NY again and.. it wasn't an easy drive. You have a lot of Stamina to be that awake and energetic after so much monotony. It's a hell of a drive...

@Big McLargehuge Great movie, one of my top fave's as a KID. How many other movies of that time merged hollywood and Video Gaming into a great action spy thriller for kids? I need ot check that out again.. would be interesting to see how well it holds up. :)
@Starone56 Couldn't agree with you more. I'm Native American and have enjoyed these videos for a few years now and I don't see any indication of catering. Ok likely not. But I think the idea holds up; his humor may have drawn a certain demographic but it is by no means intentional. I don't recall this being the "Angry Video Game White Nerd".

I am sure you've seen a lot on here already and James has likely warned you but I'll say it too just to remain totally redundant: Now that you are on here, don't take anything folk say or do on the comments personally, seriously, or to heart. Though at the same time, I'd say make liberal use of the comment delete button ;)
Since you were there for the length of the show, one other question: for Jame's mini-films and for several Nerd Episodes, did you assist with the production of fake blood/poop? Are you really involved with any of the production aside from moral support(it sounds like you have some first hand knowledge of his production methods, though as you said I wouldn't expect you to spoiler all the hidden magic)?

hm.. look's like there is an IMDB.com page for the movie.. even has a slight plot synopsis. James, are you maintaining this or should we call it a "You know whats Bullshit?" thing?
According to there it is "Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie" . Here's the linkie:
Haha awesome sculpture. It is a great desk plaque.
Have the movie start off with a dream sequence where the nerd is the CEO of Nintendo or AVGN Games INC and he uses that as his name plaque while sitting at a huge exquisite desk.. covered in nerd memorabilia and various gamer objects (heck you might be able to get some donations from thinkgeek.com if you strike up a deal or even screwattack) or even 'net meme's. Then you have the chance to either start on that plaque and zoom out to the full scene, or start with the scene fading in and then end the dream as the camera lands on the plaque and fades out to the nerd waking up.
(I realize you already likely have a lot of this stuff totally planned and storyboarded out, just figured I'd toss it out there in case it helps. :) I make no claims to be a pro, filmmaker guru or.. even a hack one.)
Very kool to see some of you unscripted. Maybe call the vblogs "Nerd Unscripted" and do every one off-the-cuff so it feels honest, fresh and true. :) Not sure I'm crazy about the iphone quality, it seems to run into issues with lighting that washed you out in a few shots, but the level of detail, fps and general rezz was manageable.
I am thoroughly amazed at how many people feel the need to correct, explain and criticize this review because of the whole "hopping vampires" joke...

@jooneo@stlramsfan10 Yeah don't even bother. This guy obviously is a bitter and dissatisfied person who thinks the world should run according to their narrow view of it and as best I can tell, has not even bothered to try and give James the benefit of the doubt or consider every angle of this situation. They just see it as they see it, make brash assumptions, then post here and say "we" to add artificial weight to a statement that honestly is NOT reflective of the majority of James' fans.
This post is the minority, a small greedy percentage of AVGN followers that want what they want and anything else is not good enough. I doubt James would pay any real mind to them, especially when they post like this with no real constructive ideas or an engaging dialogue to build off of.
It's sad really because when you read it and consider the writer's voice like a 8 year old kid stomping his feet and shouting at the top of their lungs, it all seems to make sense and show just how juvenile some folk can be.
@Abelmont42 Haha yeah, could be a theme for the episode. Crappy games that cost way too much. :) Would be kool to see the games compared to their "Current Gen" equivalent to say " OK for $200 you could buy this old atari game or for this much you could buy the limited edition collectors pack of game X and still save $70 " lol.
3 years, 1 month ago on AVGN Bible Games 3
@Abelmont42 Ha that was actually not too shabby. Though really, you look almost exactly like Samwise Gamjin from Lord of the Rings. I almost wish you did your reviews as a hobbit and used a middle earth accent instead of a soft spoken.. mafia?Wouldn't be hard to make a costume for it and then the "dark master" you feature in that video could actually be one of the ring wraiths.. or maybe Golem.. hehe.. or Frodo when he's turned..
I know I know.. you already established the GNome and will run with that.. just.. would actually be a fun angle. and with The Hobbit coming end of next year.. would be a great little chance to have fun and get popular. You seem to have the talent. Now go nuts and make your mark!
I love the fact James has inspired people to do this kind of stuff. Awesome.
That was pretty kool. It's funny to think Mike and James have been friends for so long they have a lot of the same style for jokes and narration. It is sort of like watching a James video, except it isn't James. :)
Only thing I'd love to see for the series would be Mike making his own Title card(s) for the intro sequence since we all know he's a great artist and all. :)
Also, if possible as you go through these, it'd be kool to give a little background on the flicks. LIke saying what year it was made, what other films the studio did, any actors that are recogniseable in a lot of other similar movies.. etc etc. :) Doesn't have to be a lot, but would be kool to help cross reference it with other flicks and show the movies relevance to the history of cinema. In some of the "commentary" films Mike and James did we got a super helping of both humor and oodles of history/trivia. I wouldn't expect THAT much, bbut a little, if all else to help rag on a shitty film.
Keep it up holmes. You Motherfucking Rock!
You sound like one of the many fans that seems to think James owes you something, or owes his fans everything. I can't disagree more, I've seen him show appreciation for help and support every step of his time on the net, he hasn't shit on his fans yet (unless they wanted him to, lol). He shows his thanks both verbally and by creating more. He has said originally the AVGN was a one off joke and he didn't consider doing more until he saw how rabid and popular it was. He didn't get to 100 episodes just for the hell of it, he did it because his fans continued to support him and spread the word. So if ever all of his fans walk away and stop taking interest in his stuff, I am sure you'll see a LOT of changes here, and likely the end of an era of AVGN.
You don't likes Jame's plan? well that's fine, give him a new better plan, but if you don't have oe that takes into account all factors and is realistically possible to implement, fuck off and let the man get the job done. He's got a Volcano to stop.
@Calavera I actually can understand why James hasn't sent out the photo's yet. I mean he did state he's signed over 2,000 pictures, but from working at a Kinko's center for a few years, I am well aware of what is involved with mass mailings. Not only does he need to have those pictures signed but then they have to be stuffed in 2,000 envelopes, and then each envelope has to be slapped with a label for each recipient(and of course someone has to print out all those mailing labels) and seal each envelope. James is looking to get the movie started, this is a lot of man hours to set aside and he has said, they don't have the manpower to pull it off. Not to mention the cost of the envelopes, the printing labels, and the postage for all these. It would cut into the current budget.
It may seem lik e" Oh whats a few hundred bucks when you earned almost 200 grand" but this is a full movie production, every cost has to be tracked and minimized. I am betting James will squeeze every dollar to it's breaking point to make the movie look and feel as great as it should despite lacking a really hefty budget.
It would be kool to see James host a volunteer work day where fans can come and meet him and donate a couple hours each to stuff/sticky/seal envelopes for all these photo's. But that requires proximity and I am unsure there's that many of his fans in his area. This also would mean having a place to set up shop and work, which might require an attendance hall or conference room at a hotel (which.. costs MONEY). So realistically.. unless a fan had access to a decent space to let it happen, and James was willing to give some time to both sign more pictures and get more labels printed and stuff.. it is something tht will have to wait until the end of the fundraiser to complete so that it can be done in one huge push. Even if he sent them all out now, as more donate he'd have to do this all over again anyhow.
I don't think James is trying to scam everyone, but when you are writing, directing, producing, promoting and starring in a movie you have a lot of hats to fill. And this means a LOT of prioritizing to make it work and preserve your sanity. James... has his work cut out for him. It is his biggest venture to date and I suspect he will be feeling like he is in WAY over his head soon enough (if he hasn't already).
Don't consider the donation drive as people pushing to get their respective picture and script. Think of it as fans supporting a movie they think will be awesome, giving back to the hundreds of free hours of work James has done to entertain them, and a chance to be part of something bigger.
@OlaviPössi. Hells yeah. Cinemac 'n' cheese all the way! Totally changes the meaning of the Kraft tent.. hehehe (sorry it wouldn't let me reply to your comment, kept saying " !" Undefined....

@Elsexmo I dunno man.. His 5th dvd release hasn't flooded the torrent scene yet, though I am sure it will. By tossing it on digital download he pretty much hands it over to people to distribute and pirate all over the web. If he doesn't do a digital download at least there is a longer gap before it ends up that way. I figure eventually if it is out there pirated to hell eventually, then yeah at that point a digital download might as well become available..
Or maybe toss it on hulu plus. :) Get a bigger audience.
@MrPWNGER considering James's budget to make the movie is like pocket change for what the advertising and distribution costs would be for a theatrical release.. I'm thinking you are giving James a bit too much credit. :) I'd love to see it happen.. but honestly.. it's lucky to anyone who sees it in a film festival.
!! ack james beat me to it.. lol
@YuL Oh I am sure there are establishing shots and other moments that are far from epic or spoilery. :) How else would he do a preview trailer for it?
But I don't actually expect him to do what I suggested, it was more of a 'wishful thinking' idea.
@Dave423 Dave did you even read this article? James has said at this point he is putting AVGN on hold. he says it here:
"The AVGN Episodes are the hardest thing to make. Even the shorter ones take a lot of scripting and careful editing to put together. This is time that would be taking away from the movie, so for the meantime, the AVGN episodes will be on halt."
Sooo.. if you are making a threat, it's totally pointless. If you are simply stating your opinion.. see you later.
Nerd up or Turd up? lol
Great to get a update on alll things you've been working on. If you get the chance, maybe slip us some storyboard drawings to check out (nothing too spoilery, of course) with you narrating. I am sure that'd be awesome to check out if you ever had the time during production... :) Otherwise.. good luck!
@JarrahWhite That's the problem with Jokes.. people take them too seriously.
If you are going to get huffy over a joke, why are you on this site? it is full of all kinds of risque humor that people could get offended by.
Otherwise, live, laugh, and try not to get offended by a joke that was a little disrespectful, but far from "offensive".
3 years, 1 month ago on OverAnalyzers #10 (Bond Part 2)
@gamez Yeah you have a point. And Mike does too. I think part of the problem is originally James got famous doin AVGN stuff and has since branched out doing the other skit shows and a ton of video reviews, and he hasn't clearly defined the line between howmuch of his celebrity persona is the AVGN and how much is just.. James. I've seen him comment various times that he is not the AVGN and that the nerd is overly harsh and critical and stuff for the sake of the character and entertainment. Yet it seems like whenever James does othr videos a lot of the nerd creeps in.
This means people watch his other work because they get glimpses of the nerd even though he isn't there. But then they realize it ISN'T the nerd and end up not really liking the video content because it's not as over-the-top or racy or crude.
Honestly I don't care if there is swearing or not, I didn't feel it was forced for the sake of humor in this, I would go with Mike and say it just feels like a part of James' normal speech. And that doesn't bother me, I enjoy a number of reviewers that use more rugged language because it feels less "packaged and processed" or homogenized for the general public. Down and dirty talk feels like he's keepin it real.
But despite my enjoyment, I am beginning to see more and more that James will likely always be seen as the AVGN and so there is this conflict of interest. There is a little Nerd in all his current work, and you could say " well yeah there is a little AVGN in all of us gamers". But really the fact he does a lot of the swearing, line delivery and execution of narration/dialogue the same between the nerd or not the nerd makes him look like a one trick pony and some folk get bored, some get confused, and some just hate it.
James- I love ya man but.. I think you need to step up the game a bit and either create a few other alternate persona's or find a line to better define between "James" and "Nerd". Without it you're going to keep getting these hot-and-cold comments threads where lots of folk love it, more and more folk hate it and a few people are stuck in between in the luke warm territory, slowly moving to one side or the other. I'd hate to see the polarity get any worse.
3 years, 1 month ago on Santa Claus and The Ice Cream Bunny (1974)
@Wanabetauren totally worth a look. heck James could do that for next years Monster Madness too :)
It makes perfect sense that they'll try and rush thisbill right now. The season has everyone totally distracted by the holidays and travelling for it and shopping and playing the enslaught of new games and movies. The public is generally totally distracted andnot really watching.. so slipping the bill in during the mess is.. brilliant.
And totally fucking dastardly. Because theyknow if it gets too much attention the public will raise a HUGE stink and it'll become "big business vs US public" and well.. after the death of the world economy due to various big business practices of bending over the world and burying their fist to the shoulder, the public is still pretty disgusted with them. Heck every time they report that consumer confidence is still low and people aren't spending as much (or investing on the stock market) I laugh and imagine it's because people are still generally pissed and don't want to help those bastards at all.. (though I know thats not systematically true.. it makes me smile)
I hate the idea for this. I like that they're trying to find a way to combat piracy and fix a long broken situation, but going about it like this is sort of the escalation tactics where " hey bad guys use bigger guns, so lets up the ante and use something more powerful to take em down!". They're handing the internet over to the richest, biggest, most powerful companies in the world and saying " Here you go, police it and let us know what you need shut down". Is that really going to help the world? Sounds an aweful lot like placing the responsibility for determining if all books, music and art are "wholesome or not" into 1 groups hands and saying " you tell us what to do oh great and powerful lord" and leaving it at that.
I.. would not be surprised if we saw a Guy Fawkes type revolution if this passes where if they start slicing up the web, pirates and hackers just start shutting DOWN the web by attacking every lobbying big company that pushed this bill into place...
Or the web splits(strangely I predicted this in a book I started years ago) and we end up with the "Internet run by government and big business" and we get the "Underweb", a free to use but separate WAN that they can't touch. :) LOL the entire web exists not on central servers but on torrent style clouds.. hehehe

I like the idea where bond is actually an MI6 agent that is possesed by a sirit that is just a really great agent. So then eventually they could have him go up against the Ghostbusters to try and take bond down in a wild crossover where the Ghostbusters are tricked into trying to "save" Bond but in actuality end up robbing him of his abilities and so the bad guys can take over the world, only to have Gozer return and take over Bond to save the world so that Gozer can rule it.. and then have the busters do one more swap at the end and accidentally posess bond with Slimer... *snicker*
Great show BTW. I'm sorry the audio was a lil off but it wasn't too aweful. I do miss Susie's accent, it made her character more of a .. character. now she's just some girl. Not to say her acting is bad, she still does great, it just doesn't feel as iconic. (oh and I really would love for her accent to creep in every once in a while when she is excited/aroused by conversation.. especially if it changes ever so slightly so everyone raises an eyebrow and starts to wonder..)
Ha. Ya know with repeated viewing I think I love he video more and more. I think it is because the style is less like a "skit" with scripting framing devices and more like a "slice of life" moment that ends up feeling mostly off-the-cuff, natural, and almost voyeuristic. No narration about the game, no lead in to the scene really, just a moment of three friends messing with games and trying something new.It is different, which some folk are hating on, but not necessarily BAD like some say. Good practice for the movie, i'd say.
And looking at Splat, it is a simple game going after a simple concept to sell itself to kids: being comically gross. What kid won't get a kick out of splatting bugs into smushy cartoon pools of yuck. Now how might somone amp it up and turn the dial up to 11 ? By making the player eat the gamepieces and yurk all over the board, doing something far more gross than the game originalyl intended. and how do we turn it up a little more? make that yurk the MOTHER OF ALL UPCHUCKS and give it some great over-the-top sound effects.
I think the last puking scene was a great idea in the spirit of the original game, but adding a nice "twist" a'la' James and Mike.
I also give a heads up highfive to Bootsy for his great theme song for Splat. It is a cute fun little song. I am curious if he actually really did armpit farts in the video or if it was an added effect. If he did it himself.. damn.. I wanna hire that man for some concerts!
I went to download the song but was bummed to see it is only available to download for $1. Normally I have no issue with buyng music, but.. a song thats a little over a minute? C'mon... If anything it'd be better top release it free and help gain popularity to help promote your other work. :) Though I guess if you already have a few out there free to download it might not be such a good idea.
3 years, 1 month ago on Board James: Splat!
@Leek@TwistedSpeech That was actually much more interesting to read and a hell of a lot more productive.
Though to be fair, the puking only took about 1 minute(from 3:36 to 4:36) not 3 minutes. If james had stretched the joke out for 3 minutes.. I'd likely have died laughing at the utter rediculousness of it..As it is Bootsy prolly puked all the playdough, 15 cheeseburgers, a gallon of ice cream, 2 buckets of cheese dip and a can of refried beans for what it sounded like.. hehe...
But I agree with your earlier points, it would have been cool to hear a bit about the history of the game, it's company, similar games it was ripping off (or was ripped off) and any nostalgic memories James had of it. But hey, maybe stuff like that just isn't out there for such a simple game...
Heck even using the play-dough as a segway device, he could have gone on a bit of a historical narration of various play-dough games that have existed and what he enjoyed doin with them as a kid before shifting to the current game. But.. oh well.
@gamez Honestly dude.. is that why you come here now? to flame and try and get people riled up? Just let folk be and act like the adult you claim to be.
@deusprogrammer Only if you get a fedex out really soon to Santa. Then he might deliver one by the holiday. :)
This also requires that you were "nice" and not "naughty" all year, in which case Santa is more inclined to hook you up since you obviously didn't get any sex being "nice" and well.. Santa takes pity on stuff like that...
I'm joking by the way. I tend to agree with you, folk get a little hot around here too easily.... Makes me a bit ashamed to be a fan of this site alongside them...
@gamez Here is the problem. In the same paragraph you state "Hey dumdshit everyone's entitled to an opinion... Criticism is a good thing sometimes"
The problem is your opinion is not criticism. It's just your take on it. Criticism is something that should be constructive, well thought out, invocative and supplemental to the piece.
Artists, writers and performers can't do anything with "you suck. go back to the old stuff" and " this was lame". They can however do something with statements like " I liked the use of pun and metaphor in your other piece, "x" and the use of it here wasn't nearly as effective" etc etc.
See one actually is an attempt to support and discuss the piece, the other is just blasting an opinion and walking away. I doubt James has an issue with hearing criticism, but blatant opinions, good or bad, are just leaves in the breeze. Sometimes nice, sometimes annoying. Always transient.
Don't bother defending those that choose to come here and flame James and his work with no real words to back it up or constructive input to help. It really makes you look foolish.
