Using the word 'stolen' makes it seem very malicious. You shouldn't assume that they were consciously trying to rip anything off.
2 years, 7 months ago on Eragon (2006)
The facts that they're 'teenage' and 'mutant' is just flavour anyways, as long as they're turtles that are ninjas it will pretty much be the same. Origin stories are just the words behind it, it doesn't matter a whole lot. People using the word 'rape' are embarrassing the fans by acting like crybabies.

@BradPederson I sort of agree with them and you. He's making it look like it's totally impossible to figure out, when it's not really that bad.
But, in a lot of videos when that happens, it's the sort of thing lots of regular people get stuck on. I'd wager lots of gamers who got that game new couldn't figure out what to do and had to look all around.

@BheemaDaCashman Well he wasn't exactly praising them. This one got 'shit sandwich', if that's being too easy on it, then maybe you're being too harsh on it. The music just about gets me on your side, though. ¯◡◡¯·

@MarlonPJManalese For some reason I guess, he didn't like the name Motherfucker Mike. It's not like it was even a persona, like the nerd, just a name so I don't know why. Now it's just like he's another person online talking about a movie. It was pretty helpful in setting his videos apart, and sounded funny.
Do that Night of the Living Dead 30th Anniversary Edition! I'll just keep asking, you won't get rid of me.

I'm bracing for a ton of people to have outrageously high expectations, then backlash when it's not what they expect, even though they don't know what they're expecting.
Hope you're all going in with open minds.

I fucking hate GameTrailers. There's no buffer bar, just a number that climbs to about 15 seconds then says 'full', even though it's absolutely not. Why's it so hard to make a normal video player like everywhere else?

@MarkPetsch He's brought that up before. In the Castlevania restrospective I think.
2 years, 8 months ago on AVGN: What Was I Thinking (2006)
@Karonic I have a feeling that someone knowing nothing about it going in and just watching the movie would think the same thing. It's a different experience and point of view just watching a review focusing on those things.
But still, those aren't that strong, we've seen a lot worse ripoffs on here.

None of that insane description should have been prefaced by 'basically'. Let alone over a dozen times!

There was definitely no problem with content since it included Brood and an extra mission, or controls per se.
I believe the compelling element was the fps, which was complete murder, even when you weren't in multiplayer, but especially in multiplayer. I owned it and enjoyed it, but it was so much fun to make fun of, it became like a slideshow when carriers showed up!
2 years, 9 months ago on Howard Scott Warshaw, programmer of Atari E.T. mentions AVGN: The Movie
I think SC64 was hardly in their hands, most of development was handled by a separate company who does re-releases for new consoles. The only thing fundamentally wrong with the game was its platform limitations.
He already releases the show on DVD, as well as other Cinemassacre projects. You don't think he'll do the same with his biggest project ever? It's not like they're region-coded either.

That's just it, awareness is key. Fortunately today wasn't any kind of deadline or anything, so his post just now will still do a good job, and it was very personal and inspiring.
However, even Wikipedia which isn't even threatened persay, went black. The point is saying 'This is what the internet will look like in a few months if you don't help", and review-based sites like this will be ground zero. The fans of this site, particularly those in America who can act, need to know to pester their state offices until they back down from it.
He was away though, so I don't blame him. But I'd still recommend that he do it one day. Every site should be doing it periodically until the voting occurs. One day isn't enough.

Attacking piracy is the right thing for the government to be doing, but this is the absolutely wrong way to go about it. The bill wouldn't be so bad if their were provisions strictly narrowing down their definitions of deviant websites, but right now sites like this and OCRemix (my biggest fear of this movement) are headed for obliteration.
Without a doubt, media pirating is murdering the economy. Half of 'consumers' don't buy movies they want to see, music they want to hear, or games they want to play because they can acquire them effortlessly for free. It's causing corporations to cut jobs to stay afloat, then less people have money, so less people buy things, so they cut more jobs. A bill similar to this needs to come through, but they need to tread more carefully.
2 years, 9 months ago on SOPA/PIPA Protest
Sites like this receive tens-of-thousands of hits a day. If every one of those who are Americans contacted their congressmen think of the impact. A simple image on the main page to inform fans that their favourite site could be ruined forever would get support.
The government may not care about it, or know what it is now, but they will once it's on the chopping block.
Not that I'm complaining, because this was a great video unrelated to the fight, but a site like this operating almost entirely from copyrighted content including game and movie footage really ought to have some SOPA-awareness material up today.
Not that you're obligated to be against it, but they will likely target your site by forbidding advertisers to give you money, forbidding Paypal to let fans transfer you money, or forcing you out of your partnerships with Youtube, Screwattack, Gametrailers or Spike. Without much effort they could ruin your carer in a day.
At least warrants a link or a banner or something, I'd say.
When he gives his opinions, everyone complains.
When he holds back for you, everyone complains.

I liked the bit where you talked about the bits.
It was funny when he said it anyways, what's the problem? It's not like he's ever actually trying to convince us these are real play-throughs, this is a comedy show, he's shown us his filming processes. We all know that he knew about the difficulty setting, and everything else, before editing, but it made a good 'bit'. I think you're watching these with the wrong mindset to be fully entertained.
That was really good. After James is back full-time, you should make your own site similar to this. I think you'd do very well.

Also, did we get Matt's mic from a dollar store or something? Whenever he's speaking, the ambience is almost as loud as he is.
And getting rid of the accent was fine, I'll take it either way, but I really wish it had returned briefly when she was getting aroused at the end, like she couldn't control her voice any more. And it would have sounded way hotter. That part was hilarious.

The fridge moment couldn't happen of course, but is really no crazier than any of these other things, ESPECIALLY the tank and the raft from the plane.
The strangest statement people make is "oh and OF COURSE it lands right side up, real big coincidence". Huh? There was a 75% chance that it would, more really with the top and bottom, and it's not like he couldn't roll it over if it was upside-down. The only real unlikely part is that it didn't open while he was flying, other than that what's the big deal? Lots of debris gets thrown everywhere with powerful bombs, its not like only his fridge survived.
