If it comes down strictly to money, A&M's advantage is in take home pay. USC will have to pay 40% more just to equal Sumlin's  TX salary because of taxes in CA. Texas has no state tax, lower property taxes and lower sales tax. Cost of living is much less. So $6 million in California is the same as $4.3 million in Texas. The Aggies have the resources to go much higher so if you are only looking at cash, advantage A&M.

I agree that these statements are fueled by A&M brass with bruised egos but I also think this is an attempt by A&M to start dealing with "life without Johnny". Once Manziel leaves, there will be enormous pressure to maintain momentum on the field and in fundraising.  Can the Aggies maintain their presence in the national spotlight? I know Sumlin is probably relishing the chance to prove that he can continue to develop talent and have success without number 2 at QB. I think those statements show that we will find that out sooner than later.

Go read read the CBS article about the game preparations of A&M the week of the Bama game. The Monday of that week, Sumlin walks into the offensive meeting and tells  the coaches that he had received word that the Aggie offensive signals were being deciphered. He then simply tells the coaches to change the signals, end of discussion. There was no ranting about cheating or filing protests. It's part of the game plan, always assume that your signals are being studied.

What the heck is wrong with SI and Yahoo with these reports based upon evidence with actual documentation, multiple named sources and a money trail? Don't these guys know that they will never become an ESPN investigative reporter doing all that silly stuff like following leads and doing background checks on sources. Like Rovell will tell you, don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

When Barry Switzer preaches about core values, then you know ESPN has jumped the shark on the Manziel story.  Yes, Aggies may be oversensitive to the Manziel story but honestly, having Switzer give his opinion on values has to give you pause that there is some truth that ESPN is making Manziel into the ubber villain of college sports.

The pleasure is mine. When you get PO'd by having countless e-mails and texts about something you said or written and you know you were right, think about how the Aggies feel about getting piled on by the media when the Aggies are convinced they are right. I think you are more like the Aggies then you know.

Post the video and let your readers decide if it was a malicious bump by Manziel or the action of a player getting yelled at by his coach and the player reacting like a five year old hanging his head and looking straight at the ground. I see Sumlin getting in his face and Manziel trying not to look at Sumlin while both run into each other, I do not see any malicious intent. Interesting to see what others think. I think Johnny probably never got this at home and it should have happened awhile ago.

Aggies are getting mad because the piling on Manziel is getting ridiculous. This is because reporters and websites have taken a sensational narrative and run it as fact. I find it interesting that Fox Sports 1, CBS, SI, NBC, Deadspin, Yahoo, and others have not been able to collaborate any of the accusation by one lone ESPN reporter. Don't you think these organizations are trying to get the lead on this story. Think about it, people run with the idea that Manziel signed 4,000 or more items, that has never been substantiated, no one can find these 4,000 items that a felon reported as true yet site keep referring to that as fact.  Johnny jawed back at Rice players and got flagged, this happens in games every Saturday and the coach takes care of it like Sumlin has, nothing new here.

I know I will get the "thanks for reading my site" but enough is enough.

John, I think it turned into a national obsession for a simple reason, Manti played for Notre Dame. If Manti played for any other program, the original dying girlfriend story would have had a shelf life of a week. The national media pushed this story because it was another Notre Dame legend in the making, another Rudy feel good story for the ages., now it is just CYA reporting.

How about adding * 50 points for leaving the Big Whatever Conference and *75 points for joining the SEC? I will tell you that Aggie fans had a very enjoyable year!

Not too complicated:  parents put away money  in a college fund, kid gets a full ride scholarship, parents are suddenly flush with cash, parents let kid use some of the money to enjoy some of the finer things in life. This scenario happens every year to student athlete and non student athletes alike.
