I don't know about you guys, but to me, Franzen seemed slow and confused out there last night...I don't know if he had a big meal before the game, or he's preparing for winter hibernation, but he just seemed sluggish and labored in trying to do anything...Starting to question that guy's initiative.

I read this and it reminded me of the Robert Frost poem, "The Road Not Taken"

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both. And be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim ,because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay in leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh. Somewhere ages and ages hence:Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference

@AndyInBaltimore This may be blasphemy, but I actually felt bad for Crawford when Quenneville was tearing him a new one. Crawford seemed to be one of the only guys on that team who was trying to hold it together as best he could when the team in front of him was falling apart. As the old saying goes, "S**t rolls downhill." When a coach is losing his mind, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the players.

Maybe I'm just off my rocker, but in a few years I can honestly see Brunner and Nyquist as Euro Twins 2.0. I would also like to formally and publicly retract any negative statements I've made about Kindl in the past. He has really stepped up, he's been shooting like a madman and he seems to be getting better at those blue line goals. On the whole, I am just amazed by this whole team. As fans we will always believe, but when we see things coalesce, it is still awe inspiring.

Babcock just needs to keep on keepin' on with his Sun Tzu "Art of War" approach. I found this quote from that book that was perfect for this series. "If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected."

Have Anaheim always been this whiny? They were bitching and moaning all during the game Friday night, too. Real bunch of professionals they've got there...The icing on the cake for me was when either Getzlaf or Perry (can't remember who) kicked the stick down the ice. Ah, to see grown men throw temper tantrums is hilarious. The refs were like parents, "If you're gonna talk back and throw a fit like a baby, I'm gonna give you a time out!"

YES! We are WAAAYYY overdue for a good Kronwalling. Kronner seems to be having a bit of a rough start to the season. It almost seems like he's a target for interference penalties now that Homer's gone. He just needs to flatten a couple of guys, release some stress and that monkey will fall dead off his back.

Well, that was leaps and bounds better than the first game against the Blues. Lots of bad calls (both ways), that 5 minute major penalty was total B.S., even if it was in our favor. Hank obviously was the man tonight, I was happy to see Ericsson score one. Howard's got some brass ones to stay in after that painful looking split, whereas Halak injuring his tender face caused him to leave the game.

All these penalties are ridiculous. It's good to see the effect Helm is having on the tempo of the game. When he's on the ice, the game gets a lot faster, and he forces the other team to move before they're ready to. What I'm noticing about Bert tonight is that he's taking shots whenever he gets a chance. Of course, they aren't going in, but at least he's shooting. What is with Hank in those insane angle shots? My husband and I have coined a term for those. It's the Z- angle. Pavel has the dangle and Hank has the Z-angle.

Not really moving their legs, waiting too long to shoot or not shooting at all. Hopefully with Help returning, his speed will generate more opportunities, as long as there are players willing to capitalize on them.

I don't agree with the "predictions" people are placing on the Wings to fail either. Will they be tested? Sure, but what team won't? This is my own pet theory explaining why everyone is hyping up how "weak" the Red Wings are going to be this season. Consider a fortress wall. That wall has a good foundation, was built with time, and care and was built by dedicated craftsman to withstand serious assaults from marauders. A good fortress wall will last many, many years. But, if a key brick from said wall was to fall out or get broken, it could possibly risk the structural integrity of the whole wall. When planning an attack, what's the first place an opponent is going to go for? The weak spot. The Red Wings are that fortress wall. The marauders are the other teams in the NHL. That key brick from that wall was Lidstrom, so of course, all the marauders see that "weakness" and are trying to exploit it. They feel that the Red Wings are vulnerable now, and they may be-to a point, but they are far from being helpless.

Honestly, our anger is impotent and futile. No one really gives a damn that we're angry except for us. Venting might make us feel better temporarily, but it accomplishes nothing. This is like an abusive relationship. The other party hurts us and wounded, we vow to withdraw. We declare that we're done with the abusive party and that we will move on to something else. When said party apologizes and vows that they have changed for the better, we believe that things will be alright and they'll never hurt us again...until the next time it happens. If the season resumes, I will watch on my regular cable provider (never have subscribed to Center Ice), but will I buy swag and tickets for games? I am currently undecided on that.

My husband and I were just discussing this very thing last night. It's a sad state of affairs when the "little people" don't matter. Even though it's us little people who spend our hard earned money on tickets to games and hockey swag. It's the little people who make sure our arenas are staffed and there to take care of the hockey fans. The only thing we get to say is BOHICA... For those who don't know, BOHICA means Bend Over Here It Comes Again...

It's been awhile since I've posted anything on here. I opted to stay out of the FA discussions/debates. I stayed away from the negativity and frustrations. I took the advice of a very smart man who simply wrote, "Let it be." I never stopped believing in this team or being a proud Red Wings fan, though. I recently got a new job and found out that my boss is a Pittsburgh Penguins fan. He jokingly threatened to fire me if I wore a Wings jersey to work. Come opening day, you can bet I'll be sporting the red and white. I'm glad to see the return of posts such as this one.

I was reading an article on the Yahoo Sports page, and they were talking about Shanahan. There was a particular excerpt that stood out to me right away.

"The playoffs evolve. The game evolves. I have to try and keep evolving with them. It's not like the regular season where every team has 82 games to play, and there's equal footing. They change depending on the score of the series or how many games are left in the series."

I don't know, maybe I'm reading too much into that statement, but that sounds like a pretty flimsy excuse for his inconsistency. It also seems that he's saying "I'm just making this up as I go. Whoever is the current favorite will be spared."

I was telling my husband yesterday that I was afraid of how this incident would affect Shea Weber's "performance" through the rest of the games. He basically got a slap on the wrist and a "warning". A cocky person would think, "Hey, I got away with this one, and nothing happened. They aren't going to do anything to me." I know the Red Wings are too disciplined to retaliate physically, so we can only hope they'll go out and retaliate with skill, class and poise. With today being Friday the 13th, maybe Nashville will get some bad luck their way, and it'll be delivered by our very own number 13.

From reading your other posts and opinions, it has become obvious to me (and probably others) that you are a person who likes to argue and stir things up. As I was writing my response to your criticism of my initial post, I knew that you were going retaliate with something even more scathing and derogatory. Lo and behold, you did. The beauty of the internet, is that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I personally don't care what you think of me or what I write, just as I'm sure you feel the same way. The difference is that I can view my opinions without being patronizing or condescending. Seeing since you know nothing about me, I will clear up the query at the end of your post. If Detroit was the heavy favorite among "experts", yes, I would be saying the same thing about them. If someone has a statement they are willing to defend, they need to prove to me why they made that claim by backing it up with facts. I'm not saying I'll agree with them, but I will have respect for them.

I never said he knows more. I said he has a brain in his head. By that, I meant someone who is capable of independent thought, acutally put effort into their article, came from a realistic point of view and isn't going to just assume Nashville is going to win because they made some noise at the trade deadline and because they have Rinne as a goalie. Apparently, you did not read the article very thoroughly because you stated the author ignored Nashville's PP and PK numbers. In fact, he did not ignore that. He did talk about it and did say that it could be dangerous for Detroit. As far as "whining" about how no one is giving Detroit any credit? Chris (who wrote the article) stated , "We're the underdog boys and girls, and I love that." I wouldn't call that whining.
