i love lamp.
@behood19 we're not possessing the puck.

@reecardoraul no, there's a small window where guys can be bought out and sammy was hurt during that time. and since his contract is up in july anyways, and has a no movement clause, he is not going anywhere.
1 month ago on Tootoo on Waivers...
@ThroatShot no, i think he's off the roster if he's claimed or not. unless the new CBA has a rule about that i don't know of.
kind of disappointed by this, but not surprised. i enjoyed watching him hit guys i dislike.
@shortguy91 he's getting back in time, though. and the guy we want to replace him with wouldn't be an improvement in that regard anyways.

FYI, when i said cleary has been good on the powerplay, i meant penalty kill.
@brandik1313 i saw that at the end, but early on he was actually racing to the puck on some icing calls. but then, as you pointed out, in the third he kind of stood around and swiped at the puck if it was close by.
2 months ago on Hey Babcock - Need Goals? Here You Go...
i'm with you on those lines, but they have to drop someone first. emmerton, sure, but then when eaves comes back someone else has to go. and then when helm comes back, another player has to go.
you know how this organization likes to tell us what we want to hear? "we're going to make moves at the deadline. i mean, draft night. make that july. probably during the preseason. nope, definitely the trade deadline." i think they're doing that with nyquist now. they say he won't be in GR for very long, but probably won't be coming up until the playoffs.
oops, forgot FNG Watch: They looked good to me! Weiss with the GWG and Alfie assisted on Hank's goal.

@Reddy haha, thanks. not planning on it, but even if we did, i've been deployed before and we managed.

I really think the second unit's issue is a lack of chemistry and that will come in time. There is talent out there. They did score if not for the bad call on Cleary.
But I'm all for icing the best team possible, so I'd also like to see Tatar out there.
@DetCapC19 i'd say it's worth it. "overpaying" someone is only an issue if you would have given that money to someone else.
5 months, 1 week ago on About that Lecavalier Guy...
@Reddy he's still an asset. either keep him and play him or trade him, but buying him out means they just pay him a bunch of money and get nothing back. of course they'll wish they had when he retires early and really wrecks their cap situation.

@RowdyFromScrubs that's exactly who i keep thinking about. but i do think brunner is a good player who is worth keeping if possible.
5 months, 3 weeks ago on Signings, Rumors and Griffins Updates
@ThroatShot trades, most likely. no idea who, though.
@slapshotgoal @Twig @BenSanborn i shouldn't have used the words "bring up" because that implies the goalie would come from GR. really, it depends on the situation. if Jimmy is out 3-4 games, yes, Mrazek is the guy. but if he's seriously hurt or struggling badly, a trade would likely need to happen.
6 months, 1 week ago on Players We Need to Keep and Let Go
@FisherDude when I list buyout guys like Hossa and Richards, I'm not saying trade for them. I'm saying sign them as UFAs after being bought out. meaning their old cap hit is gone. they'll still be getting paid by their old teams, which means they could possibly (ESP in Richards' case) play for much cheaper while still making bank.
@JohnnyAllen glad you found us, too.
@BenSanborn because if Jimmy Howard is going to be making $5+ million, he needs to be playing a lot of games. Probably 60 or more. Mrazek needs to play in order to develop into the elite goaltender we think he'll become. 20 or fewer starts and the occasional mop-up duty isn't going to cut it. it's best for Mrazek to start 45-55 games in GR and play rather than watch. i know he's good enough to be an NHL backup right now, but he could be even better with more development.
the only issue with his contract isn't the cap hit, but the penalty detroit would have to deal with if he retires early. if holland is confident he'll honor his full contract, keeping him is the right move.
