By the way, thank you for mentioning the PK. As always, Eaves and Miller seem to make themselves invaluable on the PK. Stick tap to the little guy...hard work and determination wins out every time!

Seriously, Z is toying with Toews, it ridiculous how frustrated that dude is. Also, how about Quenneville yelling across the rink at his player in the box (was it shaw cross check at the end of game?), then he gave it to Crawford and told him to go back out in the net, you could see Crawford's shoulders drop as he skated back out. No matter what kind of death stare Babs gives his players, he never belittles them on the bench...totally unprofessional on Quenneville. Really what do you expect from someone who came from Colorado? I said at the beginning of the playoffs that my dream scenario would be for the Wings to end their tenure in the West by beating Anaheim, then Chicago, then San Jose, then Pittsburgh in the finals to take the cup...keep it up Wings, make it happen! @marti783 @Reddy Yeah, I almost feel at times like that line is a more skilled third line...I say that because I feel like Z's defensiveness matched with Cleary and Fil's lack of offense adds up to basically a shut down line. It's worked great agianst Toews, but I would love to see Z back on a scoring line. Whatever Babs is doing, keep it up, lets send those (insert hockey team who has gained fans and high draft picks by failing miserably in the last 5-10 years) home crying! Not sure if I want to see Brunner back on the top line, he belongs there at the start of next season, but something is working on the third line and I don't like change anything, we are winning. Is it me or are the Red Wings winning with a young roster and riding a hot goalie! In 20+ years, I never thought I would say those things about the wings...bring on a new era in Detroit! LGRW!!!

P.S. How F'ked up is it that there a 25 outdoor games next year? *Lame (F - Anaheim, have fun skating on water)

In terms of a 2+-year deal, because I just don't see him signing a 1-year deal, I have been thinking since before July 1st that we should try to get him for somewhere between 5-5.5 mill., but honestly, I don't think he is going to sign for less than 6 mill. Hopefully Kenny can work some magic though (which is long past due this Summer).

I don't think he will win as a defenseman, but hopefully he has a better year than his buddy over in Edmonton, ("the great") Justin Schultz.

I'm trying to be as open-minded as I can about the Parise/Suter decision to sign with the Wild, but I seriuosly think they both made a bad choice. Obviously, adding both of them adds some depth to that team, but I can't see them winning anything major anytime soon (although secretly I would love to see them make it to the wcf, only to be swept by Detroit). I could be wrong, I don't follow Minn. very closely.

Also, Ryan Suter...really? You really felt the most important thing for your career was to play in a small market? Really? What a f*cking idiot!

It's funny, I just went from thinking Justin Schultz could be the next great Red Wing FA pickup to completely hating him. I wonder if I could do the opposite for Shane Doan. I doubt it...not with that ugly face!

I really don't think he can replace Bert, but he IS good in front of the net and the wings happen to have a net front man who is a potential retiree...he could replace some of those numbers.

That's funny, when I saw this write up I thought of last year's post. I posted a reply, but really my superstitions haven't changed, same cup year practice jersey, same planters peanuts (although I must eat the first handful at the same moment the puck drops), same avoidance of certain friend during playoffs.

I do have one new thing though, but it's not really a superstition. I have a friend who has been staying with me, not a hockey fan, but I force him to watch all the games. Whenever anything significant happens revolving around Pekka Rinne (RW goal, big save, etc.) we both chant, "pecker weenie! pecker weenie!". I have my friend to thank for that one, brilliant!

Underrated: Bert - I thought about voting for Kronner, but he has been getting quite a bit of attention for his play this season, so I think Bert is more underrated (especially for his shootout goals!).

Best goal: I really wanted to vote for Homer's goal, because it is a thing of beauty (the passing, I mean), but I remember the Pav goal at the end of the game and I freaked out...and since it's against Nashville (I want to see more of this) I gave it my vote.

Most Improved: I wanted to give this to Miller, but similar to Huds, Miller has always had the skill and shown flashes of it in previous seasons, but Fil just took things to a different level this year, he gets my vote!

Hustle: Obviously Helmer, but if it would have been a grit or dependable player award, it would have gone to Stewey for sure.

MVP: This is a tough one! How do you choose between Lidstrom, Howie, Pav, and Z? I decided on either Howie or Pav, with my the final vote going to Pav, he just has the ability to change the game when he is on the ice, ngiht in, night out.

Totally off topic: Did anyone catch the post game interview last night with Conks? Trev asked him if the win would make the following day off that much better, his reply; "oh, it's gonna be real nice...there's not too many worse places to have a day off than Phoenix". Anyone think that was an intentional comment or merely a freudian slip? If that's what he meant to say, conks may be my new favorite player!

Moorecha said it right, K.D. is one of the best play-by-play guys in the league, 'nuff said. As far as Mick...I've been listening to him do DRW telecasts for over 20 yrs and each game has been a pleasure. In fact, Mickey Redmond (and his hilarious "mickeyisms") was one of the main reasons I continued to watch the Wings back when they used to sort of suck (wow, am I really that old?). Flat out...I would fist fight just about anyone to defend Mick, seriously!

I'm pretty much agree with the majority; don't mind losing E or Salei, would prefer Eaves over Miller (but would like to keep both), and it would be nice to keep Drapes. I'm undecided about Ozzy. Also, most people will probably hate me for saying this, I may even hate myself for saying it, but I wish Homer was a UFA. As much as I love him, I think it's time for him to hang 'em up.

I feel your pain, Brendan. I'm not in quite as bad a situation as you though. I always dvr the games and watch an hour later, so I can ff through opponent interviews, commercials, etc. In game 5 when we were down 3-0, I couldn't take it, so I decided to ff until the Wings scored (a trick that has worked in the past). Sure enough, they did score and came back to win, unfortunately for me, I had to fast forward through the whole game (luckily once the win was in the bag, I went back and watched). Game 6 was amazing, until, of course, the Sharts scored. Well, being a man of great superstition, I began the whole fast forwarding madness, yet the Wings scored and scored and scored. Trust me, if somehow sj goes up in game 7, I will not see the rest of the game (or at least not in regular speed) and hopefully the Wings will be victorious.

By the way, I have been laying low on posting, because I am afraid that anything that I do, at any moment, could jinx this thing, just writing this is making me nervous. GRW!!

@BLOOD RED How about we start refering to the team as 'Off Constantly.' That way, at least if we lose (not going to happen), at the end of the game, the Sharks have to skate around the ice celebrating, like, 'We won! We beat Off Constantly! We beat Off Constantly!'

@dddd What's the deal? That's like the 3rd or 4th post where you go all douchebag and claim we are "bandwagon" fans. The Wings have been in the playoffs for the last 20 yrs. We have had a successful team and strong fan base for years (even before the playoff run/dominance). If we were fans of the Hawks or the Caps who have only had decent teams for the past couple years than your claims might hold some weight, but that is not the case, so you just end up sounding like a dick.

Wierd foods, special beers, lucky jerseys, the tics, the tacs, I think from a recent post, we've all learned that we as fans do everything we can to help the team. But in reality, it's in their hands to turn this thing around. I really believe the Wings are the better team in the series. We really played a good game and gave a lot of effort, but still came up short and those two not so great performances in the first two games are really catching up now. 3-0 is a hell of a deficit, but if any team can do it, the Detorit f*cking Red Wings can. Game 4. Let's do this.

Ok, I definitely must eat a pack of Planter "Heat Peanuts" by the time the game is finsihed or the world will end and the wings will lose, sometime I will eat two packs if the game isn't going well (by the way, when you have eaten like 10 or 15 packs of these over the course of a couple weeks, they become the worst thing you would ever want). Must wear the lucky RW practice jersey with stanley cup patch, random RW shirt under, 2008 SC hat, and RW logo pj pants (this is a new addition since last year, thanks mom). Always mute or fast forward through opposing players/coaches interviews. This one hurts, but my best friend Paul and I cannot speak to each other during the playoffs. He still lives up in MI, but I'm down here in Bmore. During the 2007 WC finals, we got together in DC and watched game 4 (RW vs. Ducks), RW lost the game, turned around the series, RW lost series, Ducks won cup. BOOOO! Therefore, I can never speak to my closest RW friend and ally during the playoffs. I also grow the standard playoff beard, but...this is a crucial time, so I decided to switch it up. I can't believe I am saying this, but I shaved my beard last night. On the downside, if we lose this series, its all my fault. But if this works, everything will be opposite and I will have reversed the curse and I can finally call my friend Paul and the Wings will be victorious!!!

@BLOOD RED @D.M.N @Lauren@blood That's funny, I do the same thing with FS Detroit (record the replay). It sucks having to watch all the games the next day though. I probably say this too often, but Babcock is a genius (its easy to say this after the fact, of course). He basically put in the young legs, grinders, etc. Knowing Phoenix can be a somewhat physical team, I think he was smart in putting in Abby. Hudler scored, putting him in seems to be a pretty good move/guess. Luckily, we won and now Mikey Mo seems like he is really ready to prove that he belongs in the lineup. Motivated players are good to have in the playoffs, no? Babs = genius.

P.S. Post-game Babcock said it was the first time since he took over in Detroit that they have had a playoff fight. Keep it real Bert, don't let 'em f*ck with you.

I'd like to see Bert have a big game. I think he's been playing pretty well anyway, but I'd be a plus to see him net a couple goals. I think with Franzen, it's only a matter of time (hopefully short), once the playoffs start, before he gets hot, or my vote would have been for him.
