@JRMarlow : The world juniors are absolutely the biggest part of this. But they ended Jan. 5; this is about a whole month of ratings being the highest in network history. Even the record-setting juniors wouldn't have done this if TSN's other properties had been bad all month. The juniors are the crown jewel, but not the only thing going on here.

Yeah, a fair point. The televised coverage is certainly much worse in the U.S., and the NHL Network's refusal to broadcast those conferences is particularly bad. That also doesn't help with casual fans. Like I said, good U.S. coverage on the written side, but you sort of have to know where to go to get it. It's definitely not promoted very much.
