Seems funny the way they perceive their own prospects. Anismov took years to bring into the club, he was good, they knew it. Dubi was also from their system and good.
.Yet they figured they could make up for the loss(.Not to mention Prust, Feds and Mitchell). They don't seem to realize the quality of the Rangers prospects and the work they have put into them.Hope this result changes the way they think about their home grown players-they're pretty good compared to other teams.A lot of development that shows.Hopefully they can develop John Moore and Derek Dorsett in the same way.
1 year, 10 months ago on Torts: This Year Was a Sideway Step; Almost Stepan for Nash
Did Torts take any responsibility at all for the EN goal, which was the game winner , or pass the blame for the loss onto his players? Telling. In any event, the Rangers had to be better, get to the net as Zuccarello noted.By the way,Zuccarello played well,as we all saw. I concluded he should be resigned from watching him in this game.

I think Stepan is on a par with Henrik Sedin or John Tavares. He's a major first line center, sees the ice, quick soft hands, pretty good shot, smart playmaking.80 points is going to be the average for this dude.He and Nash will be a deadly duo, and if they add a Mike Richards level player to that line-watch out!

It would be great if Oscar Lindberg could play in the playoffs this year for the Rangers.Other players have gone direct from the SEL to NHL w/o a problem and he could be possibly helpful on face-offs. According to http://www.hockeyligan.se/blog/5/ He was a key all around player for the Swedish champs, creative and skilled, scoring goals and creating opportunities.

Brassard, Zuccs Moore have all been showing up for the games. They showed up again last night.Richards showed up last night too and that is good.Hope he got the spark he needs so desperately.Man, did Moore ever give a beatin' on Skille!Brassard has to keep shooting the puck and not slip into the pass first mode.He is on his game and should be on it for a long stretch now if he isn't messed with.He has to keep shooting tho.Happy for Zuccs. What a weird vampire stare he has when he was ready to fight that Panther.Krieder seemed to play more intensely in his last shifts after sittin on the bench for so long-maybe he is starting to grasp he has to do something every shift with Torts.Overall, Rangers showed why they are a superior team but they have to play much better or they will be on the losing end against higher quality teams.

Tonight we face a weak team that has beat the Rangers once this year. Its a must win and Rangers should make a statement game, score a lot of goals and hand the Panthers their ass. We'll see what transpires.I bet the same players show up that showed up before and the rest.like Clowe...well.., I hope they wake up tonight.
1 year, 10 months ago on Whatever Happened to That Clowe Guy the Rangers Traded For?
J.T.Miller is going to be a top level NHL player.Just hope he steps up his game this year and starts to be the dangerous player that he is.You can see his talent and his ability, its clearly evident at only 19.He gives good depth skill and scoring at the middle lines right now. After we lost AA and Dubi, that helps a lot.
1 year, 11 months ago on JT Miller Passes to Himself
Rangers have a lot of big players now -everyone 6 foot plus or five eleven- and can afford a smaller player or two like Zucc and Christian Thomas on the roster, if they can help the club.Scoring depth is a good thing.
1 year, 12 months ago on Sather Talks to Zuccarello's Agent About Rangers Return
JT Miller quietly becoming a dominant player, wouldn't be surprised if he keeps on improving and the points start to build up.Remember -he quietly tied for leading scorer in WJC As for Ryan Callahan I just had to laugh, what a mensch of a player.Rangers are turning the corner hopefully and getting ready for a good stretch run.Thursday, Rangers have to keep the afterburners on, cause the Islanders are going to be playing sky high after their win.

I don't think trading Gabby is a very good move, even with him being eventually UFA.He is bringing the points, which the Rangers need, and they aren't going to find those points or scoring growing on trees. Its a simple as that. He's a productive player, who we don't want to or need to trade. In fact, even though he'll be 32 when his contract finishes we should try to sign him if he hasn't lost a step, cause he sure won't lose his hands. Anyways unless we get a better player or scorer for him, then its not happening.Scorers are lasting longer in the league these days- Teemu, Jags.Gabs is not in a different sphere than them.
2 years ago on Rangers Trying to Move Gaborik? LOL!!!!!!!!
@slapshot13j @farlands2012 I think that Nash is going to reveal another HOF skill with the Rangers: That is :he is just as great playing with teammates -if they are highly skilled-as he is on his own.He was truly extraordinary in his gold medal games, and I think that with the Rangers he will demonstrate that level again once the Rangers get really going consistently.I think he will be awesome-Jagr or Crosby level ,hopefully.we'll see.
2 years ago on Sweeter Goal: Nash or Hagelin?
The thing about Hags is there are still fans who think he is no more than a 3rd liner playing above himself, when actually it has been evident from day one that there was more than just speed there.Truly amazing.Hags is top six player, by himself, without line support -first or second line -no question. If you think he's a third liner I would seriously doubt your ability to perceive what is happening on the ice.Had to get that off my chest and for that reason voted Hags. He's always been underrated and has a decent shot.As for Nash- well he doesn't need my vote -I already see naysayers doubting his top five level. So I will vouch for him too and go out on a limb:with excellent line support Rick Nash is one of the best forwards in the game today- in the entire world.
I haven's seen McIlrath on the Whale this year but I saw some NHL preseason games last year.He looked basic, actually not bad and he was a real good skater then so he is probably better now. From the limited amount I have seen he definitely sticks up for his teammates, virtually every time,so if he did join the Rangers say, for the playoff run or post season, he would likely give a lot of confidence to the team.Any opponent who messes with McIlraths' teammates is probably going to get some kind of notification by him, quickly and roughly.
In my opinion, If he can hold his own defensively in the NHL, he would help this current Rangers team. But like I said, haven't seen him play this year on the Whale.I mean the thing is, right now he's likely better than Bickel defensively and has a higher hockey IQ.
2 years ago on Biron: We WERE Hard To Play Against
I think that 19 year old J.T.Miller has as much upside as ROR. And Krieder is also expected to be real good despite his struggles. Thats just from watching their games at the NHL level. So we are talking about a big risk, a lot of risk in trading either of these players. MDZ - I think everyone can see his play-good and bad- and that he has not hit his ceiling. So one on one with Colorado throwing in a pick- would be Sather's call. I'll leave it to the experts on that one. MDZ is a good player, whether or not he has haters. He is still a regular roster NHL offensive dman. Thats important enough.not to be dismissed.
2 years ago on Avs May Have Asked for Miller or Kreider Along With Del Zotto for O'Reilly
Trade away Gabby or a solid Ranger player now would be blowing up the SC chance this team has carefully worked years for.Crazy. As for the other trades for a good center- we really don't want to trade away Stepan or Miller-they will both be stars-they're really good and will succeed eventually at a higher level-big time, imo..So That leaves MDZ- we have McIlrath on the way, so we could have another quality dman ready in a while, but we would need some more offence back there-have to replace the lost offence from the d if they trade MDZ.
2 years ago on Now Rangers Are Interested O'Reilly
Rangers have all the skill now and all the players are good enough. All that is lacking is ALL of them playing up to their skill level -not just some of them,I think this will come with more games. Some tinkering, some crappy games and some good games are on the way -no doubt. But after that- I could see this team stringing wins together regularly-the components are there now.Just too much skill now not to win a lot.But its not automatic of course-It's NHL-Its tough. But its possible to be positive now.
2 years ago on Tortorella Considered Benching Gaborik Last Night
I know its not likely to happen but I would like to see McIlrath recalled at some point, especially if Danny G is out .I think he would be OK and better stay at home D than Gilroy or Emmy, he has played OK when he was in exhibition games B4. MIght make it easier for Hank.Big Mac Truck could definitely use the minutes in CT- However- Rangers could def use someone who can clear the crease effectively and protect Lundqvist-maybe it would help Hanks confidence.Heck maybe everyone's confidence.Gabby or Steps for example might not be hesitating if they knew Big Mac had their back all the time.
2 years ago on 3-for-35?!?!?!?!?!
I agree they'll be alright.Timing was a noticable thing in the way Rangers played last year- deadly fast goals from a bounce or rebound, nice fast passes followed by a quick wrist shot. That ain't happening now, with the exception of Nash.See all the stupid blind passes that don't click, the failure to avoid stick checks, giving the puck away, failure to get out of their own zone.Once they get their act together, hopefully soon, these nagative situations can all change quickly.
2 years, 1 month ago on What, Me Worry?
Torts should play Nash, McDonagh and Del Zotto extra until the rest of the team gets its game legs.Notice they have played ok? Its partly because they played full time overseas.Hags didn't really see much ice time overseas due to the injury so he doesn't count.Lundqvist and Biron can alternate if one of them shows rustiness.I say they lose 4 out of 5 and then play par b4 they go on a tear. Not worried about this balanced team.
2 years, 1 month ago on Why Torts Pulled Lundqvist
Have to disagree, Despite the lesser quality players there's a heck of a lot of NHLers playing in AHL right now, also its a good league with plenty of 4th liner journeyman NHL level players on every team. Its not easy even if you are playing with superior linemates. Krieder will earn his goals here and it will help him.Keep him there until he's gonna be consistent all season in NHL
