My favorite Christmas toy was a thumblina doll that when you wound her up her head moved. I lost it to a dog a few years later. About 48 years later I found her on ebay. I really loved her.

Christmas is not about money and getting the same amount but if that is what you are worried about then have him do his parents this year and yours next year. You don't want to bankrupt yourself just for the principle of it.  It's the thought that counts not the money. That's not the way a marriage works.
