I mean look what Abrams did with the Star Trek franchise....completely reinvented it to a new generation of fans....
I'm actually really excited to see what Abrams will do with the SW franchise.
Wouldn't it be great if we caught a glimpse of Ned Colletti selling peanuts in lodge pavilion?
Uh, straight up? Not likely.
What are you talking about? It's never a bad time to delight in Giants awfulness.
Cheering for laundry?
You know....seeing how impressive the Dodgers 'pen has been.....it really makes me wonder why it we had to endure a whole damn season of Brian Wilson last year....I mean, he obviously didn't have major league stuff....and yet, stupid Ned Colletti and his hard-on for ex-Giants players still trotted him out there....
Hey man, did you make your own outlines in law school? I'm a 2L but I've never created my own outline....

@OSaltyOne @dappler218 @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)
First we don't have a solid rotation outside of Kersh & Greinks & a healthy Ryu....McCarthy & Anderson are HUGE question marks. Second, as you may have saw in the postseason, having just a great closer does NOT equal a good bullpen....you need arms to get the ball to your closer.

@BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @dappler218
I'm saying as the team with the HIGHEST PAYROLL IN BASEBALL, we shouldn't have to watch the Padres outmaneuvering us on every single move...(i.e., James Shield, Craig Krimbrel, Justion Upton, etc.)
Anyone know if there's a way to stream Dodgers games on the internet if you have say, have a Time Warner TV cable subscription but you're not near a TV? I HATE having the illegal stream games when I'm away from the TV....
No, how we got in this mess in the first place was hiring Ned Colletti as a GM and letting him have his way with his hard-ons for ex-Giants players (Brian Wilson)
So starting the season with a "closer by committee" with Joel Peralta, Chris Hatcher, etc. is a better answer?
Obviously the Padres are mortgaging the house to win now....just wish the Dodgers would show their fans that they're half as serious...I'm tired of all the "smart" moves our supposed genius front office keeps making....Brandon McCarthy, Brett Anderson, Joel Peralta....wtf, we have the highest payroll in baseball....
WTF, Padres traded for Kimbrel?! WTF, Dodgers front office! Joel Peralta?! Chris Hatcher?! Are we just gonna pretend that the NLCS didn't happen?!!!
By "alternative ways" of watching the Dodgers, was Mike referencing illegal web streams?
3 weeks, 5 days ago on You’ll Never Escape Ned Colletti, Ever
As talented as Urias is, he's not going to help the Dodgers for at least 2-3 years....he's only 18 and no way will he be ready for 2016...maybe as a 5th starter...
3 months, 1 week ago on Enjoy Your Last Year of Zack Greinke, Probably
So with Greinke more likely than not opting out of his contract, where does this leave the Dodgers? I really thought we should have signed an elite starting pitcher this offseason as insurance for Greinke opting out (i.e., Jon Lester, Max Scherzer) or aquire an elite starter via trade (i.e., Cole Hamels), but that hasn't happened....
@Whose on First
So essentially, you'd be replacing ZG with another 1A pitcher.....my point is....we need 3 legit ace caliber pitchers to get to the next level....
4 months, 2 weeks ago on So Long, Matt Kemp
Acquiring another front line starter (i.e., Hamels, Scherzer, or Shields) is now a priority....if ZG opts out after next season, we're basically screwed...
You may be right, but we do need to get another front-line starter....it would put us over the edge in 2015...and looking past 2015, we need insurance in case ZG opts out....which he most likely will
I think the improvement is marginal....the difference maker is if we can obtain another front-line starter....
So basically what you're saying is that Rollins, Kendrick, & Grandal > Kemp, Hanley Ramirez, & Dee Gordon? I don't think so...unless, you can replace the lost offense through run prevention by obtaining a front-line starter....
But trading Grandal to fill our long term catching solution for Matt Kemp straight up doesn't make sense unless it allows Friedman to acquire Hamels, Shields, or Scherzer.....we just lost our two biggest right handed bats in our lineup in Hanley and Kemp....
Yes, definitely....I don't see Friedman trading away Grandal....he was the best solution for our catching spot....and I don't see us trading away Pedersen because that would leave a huge hole in center field
Ya, I know at least one of the three is going to have to be included in the package....but before, all these trades, it was probably gonna have to be all three to get Hamels...
What isn't happening?
Trading Matt Kemp won't make sense unless we end up with a front-line starter....hopefully Friedman has the prospects now to put together a package for Cole Hamels....without now having to trade away Pedersen, Urias, & Corey Seagar to get him.....
@Weston T @dappler218 @Lobo
I have a final this Tuesday that I'm studying for too....Employment Discrimination....
@Paul ran out of puns, is just Paul now @dappler218
The only thing about trading for Cole Hamels is, what will it take to get him? Phillies will probably ask for Pedersen, Urias, & Segar.
What final exam are you taking?
@Farmer John Hot Dog Sold At Dodger Stadium
I think the point of getting him is that he was the best available catcher available....with the best potential upside.....and catching was one of our glaring holes in the lineup....once Russell Martin signed with the Blue Jays, the Dodgers couldn't just do nothing and go with AJ Ellis again....
What are the chances the Dodgers trade for Cole Hamels or sign James Shields or Max Sherzer?
@Crushinator (Gender Bender lover) @dappler218
We just lost our two biggest righty bats in Hanley & Kemp and we're essentially replacing them with Jimmy Rollins & Howie Kenrick....
Anyone else agree that this offseason won't be considered a success unless we're able to trade for Cole Hamels or Shield or Scherzer?
@Mike Petriello @dappler218
If the Dodgers don't add a "tier 2" or "tier 1" starting pitcher this offseason, then they're really spinning their wheels in the mud. If they stand pat, and like you said, ZG will opt out after 2015, then what will they do in 2016? You're really left with Kershaw and Ryu. If they acquire an elite starting pitcher to replace ZG, then aren't they really in the same position as they were now? We need 3 elite starting pitchers plus Ryu.
5 months ago on Your Obligatory Discussion of the Dodgers And Cole Hamels
@Disgruntled Goat @dappler218
No other team can match a package of Urias, Segar, and Pedersen. We won't be outbid.
The only elite starting pitcher free agent is Jon Lester, and almost certainly going to resign with the Red Sox.
So Mike, it seems to me that the Dodgers should really go "all in" this offseason for 2015. And by "all in," I mean doing whatever it takes to acquire Cole Hamels. If that means trading Julio Urias, Joc Pedersen, AND Corey Segar, then so be it. It's a high price, but if that's what it takes, then that's what it takes. Like you said, ZG can and most likely will opt out after 2015. If we don't add an elite starting pitcher this season and ZG opts out, then we're really screwed in 2016. We saw last year that Kershaw, ZG, and Hyun-Jin Ryu, while a great trio, wasn't good enough. We need another elite pitcher to get us over the top.

Career postseason era of 0.95, four complete games, including two shutouts?
@MajorPuigBaseball @foldamort @dappler218
Not two years in a row...to the same freakin team and the same player (Matt Carpenter).
Look, you can be the best player in baseball during the regular season, but if you can't perform in the postseason, then it doesn't mean squat....would Koufax be as legendary as he is if he was only great in the regular season? No. Koufax was Koufax during the postseason and that's why he is a legend.
