The "homespun charm" you mentioned is exactly why I love this album. Hearing stories about Paul being so determined with The Beatles to get songs recorded the way he wanted showed how much he cared about his craft and his vision. He finally had the opportunity with this album to record it all himself and push his own creative limits as a solo artist, and that is incredibly inspiring.
