I have several computers around the house, and for the most part, I'm operating system agnostic. I can use Filezilla, Firefox, Audacity and most of the other open source apps I use daily on Windows, Mac or Linux. If I need to work in a console, I prefer to sit in front of a linux computer, though the Mac has a decent terminal app too. If I need to work in XML, the apps for Windows seem better than those for Mac and Linux. Video, I find, is better to work with on the Mac than on the other platforms.
