All good points! And, when in doubt, hire a social media consultant :)

Interesting. No doubt social media has changed the landscape, however when it comes to politics, who really knows? As you state, people are reluctant to actually say which party they support or to actually post political, SO the jury is still out.

This reminds me of my childhood. My parents and grandparents always cultivated gardens and loved to preserve food! You made me hungry and nostalgic!

What a nice post and great testimonial for Kittie's work. I have a VA who keeps my site on track. Otherwise, it would probably be a complete mess! You are giving good advice when you say stay away from the one-click sites and hire someone to do it "right." Makes all the difference!

Yes, I think you have to let them take their bumps, however, you need to guide their decisions. If you are constantly having teaching conversations with your children, chances are they will avoid some of the booby traps on their own, because they've been trained. Some children won't bother touching the hot stove because they were told it would burn them. They trusted their parents judgement. That's always nice :)

OK, it's official. I now want to go to Rome! What a delightful article and the photos were a fantastic way for us to feel like we were following you along. Really enjoyed it!

The picture is beautiful! I live in mild climate (Birmingham, AL), so I enjoy the winter minus the cold weather through other people's pictures! The music is fantastic! Thanks for sharing!

You brought up some great points and some grim ones. In some cases, social media has become nothing more than a playground for adults with too much time on their hands. Do we really need to see a picture of your dog every time they return from the vet? Social media has just gotten too "noisy." People have forgotten simple good manners. You can make a good, solid networking connection using the social media sites if you really get focused and serious. And no, don't tell me you love me on the first handshake, I mean retweet!

@margieclayman that is hilarious!
Can I just say I "found" this article from my Twitter newspaper? And, since I'm here I would like to start a conversation so you'll be able to say you had at least one conversation that came from a Twitter paper! You have voiced many complaints that I've blogged about for a while. Most of your list can be chalked up to bad manners. People who are truly interested in relational marketing know better! Thanks!

Yes, so many people think that after writing the blo, they are done. No way! That's when the marketing of the blog post starts! It's a full time job.

@ExtremelyAvg @KenMueller Thanks for the heads up on the writer group! I'll check it out!

@KenMueller @MarthaGiffen I thought that at first too but now that I've gotten involved in some of the groups, I feel like I am contributing value. Maybe you should check it out again? Like any other social media platform, if you are focused while there and don't get caught up in the "trappings," it will serve you well.
I think you can't underestimate the importance of being in groups. A new place I'm exploring is Empire Avenue. I've found several groups over there I like and am continuing to increase my network.
@Justicewordlaw I think you are so right!

Nice post! I agree that we will start to see more interaction on FB fan pages and such. I think more companies will start opening group areas where people can congregate and talk. We'll see. It's all such a new and exciting adventure!
I like looking at my analytics but I try not to get hung up on them. As long as my readership is gradually going up over time, a few down days don't bother me. As long as people are finding their way to my freebies and moving into my funnel, I'm good :)
3 years, 10 months ago on Wait, my blog's search traffic is down, what happened?
@UniqueVisitor Totally agree!!

If the video is showing how their product works, I see nothing wrong with it. If, on the other hand, it is a sales pitch for that poster, then NO, don't do it under any circumstances without permission. The wall is for the benefit of THAT biz, not yours. OK, that's my 2 cents :)
