From what I hear, Kalish had just begun his training in January, felt pain in his shoulder, and is now having surgery. Tough break for the kid.
Actually, Michael Morse is 30. But I'd like to see the Sox make a run at him if the Napoli deal ultimately doesn't pan out.
I would hardly call this a dismal off-season. I have liked the majority of Ben's moves this winter. No strangling long term deals, good clubhouse guys. Will they compete in 2013? Don't be surprised if they do.
J.D. Drew's immortal 2007 ALCS blast was actually in the first inning of Game 6, not Game 7. Merry Christmas from NYC, guys!
I'm totally reserving judgment, Denton. Way too early to start giving up on 2013. FA market is very thin, so I'm betting Ben makes a big splash with a big trade. Or two.
@Jennie As my friend Jere points out, these MFY morons doing that brings back wonderful memories of the 2004 ALCS, when the sport's biggest choke occurred. Nobody ever said MFY fans have brains, or sense.
Thanks for all the great posts, Red and Denton. Always a pleasure even if this season went down the crapper in April. 134 days until pitchers and catchers. Keep the Faith.

I guess we can start calling Beckett "Commander Asskicked."
I work as a background actor on many NYC productions, Denton. If she never utters a line, probably nothing. She's probably like me in that she's gets paid for the time she spends on the set and that's it. But I would get kill for a recurring gig on a show like that...
Right now I am as pessimistic as you are, Denton. Never seen a streaky team like this 2012 team. Win 5, lose 5. More and more, we should be looking towards 2013.
Great stuff, Red. I'm heading to Fenway on Opening Day with the BLOHARDS, NYC's Red Sox fan group. It's my second home opener and 20th time I have been to the Crown Jewel of Baseball. Can't wait.
Last time I looked Tito wasn't unemployed. I believe he and Bobby V switched jobs. But I still would have liked to have heard their phone call, especially the tone of both parties.
I appreciate the link to the article and shout-out. I've been to San Diego and Petco Park on a couple of occasions, and thoroughly enjoyed it. All the best to you and your boys for 2012!

God bless Billy Mill.
I would have thought the robot would have picked 37 in honor of Bill Lee, you know, "The Spaceman"....
"Headless Body Found In Topless Bar" is still the Post's best, but this one isn't too far off.
Happy 2012 to you both, Red and Denton. Thanks for another great year of posts, and Happy New Year to all devoted Sox fans out there!
And again, I keep hearing about last September's collapse as "the worst in history." Wrong. The 1964 Phillies still have that crown.
As far as I'm concerned, the 2012 Red Sox start with a clean slate, but have a LOT to prove. I'll give them a chance before I deem them "unlikeable."
Ron Johnson, the former Sox coach, was named the Orioles AAA manager on Monday, Matt.
