@morganwick that list didn't have TWC SportsNet on it, which I found the info for elsewhere.

DVRed the Ravens preseason game on Saturday. Watched it in a brisk 50 minutes - turned it on at the beginning of halftime of Tottenham-QPR, and was done watching before that match was over.

@Boxingnut4324 long story short, the Nationals had an option to renegotiate their contract with the Orioles/MASN, they exercised it, an independent jury agreed with them, the Orioles/MASN ignored them and all hell is breaking loose.

But I agree that the rule hasn't been applied well. The intent behind it was great, but the application has been a complete and utter disaster.

@Gossamer it's an opinion. I've liked Enberg's work from what I've watched this year. Also, AA readers put the Padres broadcasters solidly in the middle of the pack in our announcer rankings earlier this spring.

@Pat_Pending This is a great point - and with the advent of national TV, Extra Innings, MLB.tv, you're not getting exposed to these guys only once a year. This isn't the 60s, where a Yankees fan has one chance to see Hank Aaron before the playoffs.

@burningriverbaseball  I don't think it's an "official" rule, but the Phillies generally have the same policy - they have a "Wall of Fame" to honor the lesser players, while the elite guys (Schmidt, Carlton, etc) get their number retired. The Braves do it with HOFers and future HOFers...and Dale Murphy.

I was a huge fan of renting movies when I was 12-13. I was a huge pro wrestling fan, and it was impossible to find much in the way of VHS in stores - but my local Blockbuster (and Hollywood Video, for that matter) had an entire section for just wrestling.

Now, if I would ever want to watch anything like that? Just go to Youtube, and you can find whatever your heart desires. There's just an irrelevancy about renting videos when you can watch whatever you want without even putting your shoes on.

I feel the same way about buying DVDs now. Really, you want me to pay 34.99 for four discs of my favorite show...when it's on Netflix/Amazon already? Sure, on occasion you'll have a situation where the show you want disappears (hello, King of the Hill) or isn't available online for streaming (The Simpsons, Seinfeld), but those are becoming the exceptions as opposed to the rule.

@StevenKeys Uggla's 33. Cabrera didn't turn 29 until August. Don't think either is really completely over the hill quite yet. Konerko I'll give you as a guy who is past his prime, but he played well last year. It wasn't a gradual decline like we've seen from Helton, that's for sure.

Hamilton's year was rough, don't get me wrong. But he *did* get a hell of a lot better in the second half. Dunn was horrendously bad in 2011, so a 34 homer season to me isn't that awful. I think Reyes played really well, but missed a 70 game chunk...and it wasn't with one of his usual garbage "wear and tear" injuries, it was a freak incident.
