@majrod @hjw1dr What do you mean by this?
1 year, 8 months ago on SOF Running Amok in Wardak? No, Not Really
@AUNITEDPEOPLE @LauraKinCA @hjw1dr @StormR AUP you're right they're not all scumbags. Not even close. All I'm saying is a little coordination/organization.
@majrod @hjw1dr MR with all due respect.... We have lacked coordination in economic stabilization and I feel this is due to lobbying and fiefdoms. Now I'm not saying this didn't occur in WW2, but it has to be in reason.
So I think we could have done a fair bit better.
@hjw1dr @AUNITEDPEOPLE @StormR @LauraKinCA Wrong. There are qualified (highly) people that want to do the right thing, but they are not allowed or not funded.
@AUNITEDPEOPLE @LauraKinCA @hjw1dr AUP - you rock! I meant there are people that want to do the right work - govt. and say retired govt. And my point is things can be achieved.
@LauraKinCA @AUNITEDPEOPLE @hjw1dr @StormR LK - it's you have qualified people to enable the right kind of change, but DC won't allow it.
@AUNITEDPEOPLE @hjw1dr @StormR @LauraKinCA Amen AUP. But this said maybe people need to take a little risk and feel some pain. I mean what is life? I'd say you try to do the right thing. If I get clipped in the process or other - fuck it. And I'm not some kind of hero rather sometimes brother you just need to do the right thing.
@majrod @hjw1dr And the point MR is a lot have been killed as a result on both sides. I'm not having it.
@AUNITEDPEOPLE @hjw1dr @StormR @LauraKinCA AUP - No shortage of good people in our our land. But apathy is not the issue. It's lobbying. So I disagree.
@majrod @hjw1dr Well MR I'm always willing to take a swipe at the French! But I disagree - lobbyists are like mercenaries.
@AUNITEDPEOPLE @hjw1dr @StormR @LauraKinCA Bullshit - it's something the whores in DC can't stomach.
@hjw1dr @AUNITEDPEOPLE @StormR @LauraKinCA No you have to have some sense of ethics because a lot of good people were willing to make it happen. Absent this not gonna happen. And it's not a joke. A lot of people on both sides are dying unnecessarily. This really annoys me.
@AUNITEDPEOPLE @hjw1dr @StormR @LauraKinCA LOL You know it was all fixable.
@majrod @dickftr Hear
@majrod @dickftr I'll pass on FP. Terrified I might here that idiot Holbrooke from the beyond.
@majrod @hjw1dr And we're the Hessians - all about the dollar.
@majrod @Tweeder @Barnes @JackMurphyRGR Mullah Omar on the other hand is quite interesting.....
@hjw1dr @AUNITEDPEOPLE @StormR @LauraKinCA LOL he's not the only one engaging in trade. Our handling of this war has been an abortion. No morals in the US anymore. So you reap what you sow.
@AUNITEDPEOPLE @StormR @LauraKinCA Karzai isn't stupid. He can see the pull out a mile away. Why do you think he would would sacrifice himself?
As per the failure in Afghanistan - lobbyists. Shit if the Marshall plan was handled like this we'd all be speaking Russian or German by now. You know we're not all on the same page as Americans.
@oldSquid LOL no he'll be in his condo in Dubai.
@majrod @shooten Perhaps so. Wonder how hard it is to hit a drone loitering endlessly at 60k feet or higher as described here....I'm guessing not a problem though.

@Txazz @LauraKinCA @Jaycel Adkins @wannabearmyteen LOL the hummingbird and smaller are frightening domestically, but they do not have the lift to carry letters or packages contrary to Jaycel's comment.
@majrod @Jaycel Adkins @PatrioticCitizen @wannabearmyteen Points well made and if you're in NYC having lunch in Central Park with not one, but two 2 liter bottles of coke Bloomberg will have a summons in your e-mail by the time you get home for violating the sugary beverage penal code. LOL.
And with how cheap storage is a ton of data can be archived til needed.
BTW molecular detection is going to be very affordable over the next 10 years so good stuff here and bad stuff.
@LauraKinCA @Jaycel Adkins @wannabearmyteen http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=the-drone-threat-to-privacy
@hjw1dr @Jaycel Adkins @Wallyohp @wannabearmyteen Keep in mind the US Airlines plane that landed in the Hudson was downed by birds. So if a well funded org wanted to do something like AQ, IRGC, etc. ironically our drone R&D can give them a low cost and hard to detect delivery mechanism - RDX, gas, etc. Wouldn't be the first time technology has been turned against its inventor.
You will note one or two of them have already magically landed on Iranian soil. I'm sure this had nothing to do with their unhackable control system though.
@LauraKinCA @Jaycel Adkins @wannabearmyteen No idea, but it will happen nevertheless. Has already happened in PA.
@Jaycel Adkins @wannabearmyteen More like the 21st century version of a skeet shooting clay disk if you fly it into the wrong backyard. Now from a counter terrorism point of view one could use one to fly into a jet taking off or landing = Hindenburg.
@Jaycel Adkins @PatrioticCitizen @wannabearmyteen Disagree - Moore's law. I can tell where this is headed technically speaking. Drones and their surveillance packages will get cheaper and cheaper = local law enforcement will be able to buy them and use them in ways that they never have been able to ala helos. Helos are expensive to buy, maintain and fuel. I think this is an entirely new paradigm actually.
So much cutting edge tech gets funded my military spending because they are the only ones that can afford it. With their funding stuff becomes workable and then a lot cheaper.
As per legal matters it will take some lawsuits to rein it in, but again we will see. Since 9/11 a lot of rights have been eroded that didn't need to be eroded.
@Jaycel Adkins @PatrioticCitizen @wannabearmyteen Jaycel as the saying goes the road to hell is paved with good intentions. So where does it end? Border/harbor/infrastructure security is fine. And say large events like sporting or other.
I'm sure everyone getting fingerprinted and giving a DNA sample would make policing a lot easier, but it's a bit much.
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
Outside of 4th Amendment issues I believe FAA is allowing up to 30k drones in the US by 2015. Just a matter of time before one sees some accidents.
@Wallyohp @Txazz @Racoon1290 Agreed and if you look at how dispersed AQ and related groups are electronic communication is helpful the downside of which is electronic com can be tracked. To the extent one can get valuable info from a physical newspaper or widely read story versus e-mail then not helpful for AP to write such an article.
I certainly support freedom of the press, but sometimes one should exercise judgment. This said another news outlet could have run the story as well.
@Txazz @Racoon1290 Agreed. Again I don't think our adversaries lack technical ability it's just the AP article enables the tips to be distributed anonymously and this is a problem.
Iassen. Very timely article. There are ways to counter this assuming budget. Would also say perhaps AQ and others are not lacking in engineering support. The Iranians in particular have a lot of manpower on countering drones.
